Subject: A matter of Security

I came across the book of information you wrote called The Monotruth. Considering my relatively recent arrival, it was a very informative read. It's answered a few questions that had been bothering me, and put to rest one major issue that was a source of concern, but it's brought several new issues to my attention, alongside other matters that I don't feel right not attending to.

If everything you've said is true, or if even half of it is true, then I don't need to worry about going home. Means one less thing to worry about, and gives me every reason to focus on making this place better off. It's what I did before I was summoned here by the 'Smiling One', as you call him. I've seen first hand how dangerous and inhospitable the Ashen Steppes are, and if your estimations of what can be done to improve the quality of life are as sound and reasonable for the other verses as they are for this one, I'd like to offer my assistance.

I'm just a soldier. I'm no good at things like science or research, and I can't say I have a head for diplomacy or any sort of action that requires such delicacy. I'm good at finding threats and removing them, and keeping them from rearing up again. It's what I was made to do, in the most literal sense possible. I can't imagine I'd be anywhere near as effective working on my own as with a group with definite goals. If you've got any place for someone with my particular skillset, I'm willing and able to lend my assistance.

Respectfully,
Colonel.EXE

Greetings Colonel.EXE

I thank you for taking the time to consider my words and thoughts regarding the Omniverse. Your staunch outlook on the future of your role in this place is exactly the kind of assertive stance that I would value greatly within the Security branch.

I contest the sentiment that you are 'just' a soldier. Perhaps in your native land, you were simply a means to an end; a tool to be deployed. In my service, soldiers are more than mobile ordnance platforms. Soldiers are people who can think on their feet and make difficult decisions when the time calls for it. Soldiers are denizens who know the value of clear and precise thinking, and can assess a situation for what it truly is.

Still, if you require direction, and find your views in line with the tenets of the Institute, it would be my honor to induct you in to the ranks of my comrades and I. In fact, I would be willing to instate you as Vice Dean of the Security branch. Normally I might not be prone to considering a relatively new Prime for such a position. As you said, in your own words, however; It's what you were made to do. Context leads me to believe that you are some form of synthetic being created for the conduction of military procedures, and I can imagine no one else more qualified for a position of authority within our organization, if you will have us.

I eagerly await your response. Until then, stay safe.

And, we dream of home I dream of life out of here Their dreams are small My dreams don't know fear I got my heart full of hope I will change everything No matter what I'm told How impossible it seems We did it before And we'll do it again We're indestructible Even when we're tired And we've been here before Just you and I
Don't try to rescue me I don't need to be rescued

You hit on some points about what I used to be pretty accurately. I was just a program made to carry out combat-related operations in networks and electronic devices to assist a living soldier in the real world. I was good at my 'job', I guess. I never really had the level of freedom of authority to make many decisions solely my own, but I gave my operator advice as often as the other way around. Both of us knew the importance of staying calm and doing what needed to be done, so I guess that's not that big of an issue.

I've read up a little on the specifics of the Institute, and it seems like as good a cause as any I've seen before. I'd be more than glad to lend my sword, and what experience I have in making and keeping the peace. I'm taken aback at the offer of the position of Vice Dean of Security, but as you've put it, I imagine I'd be rather qualified for the position.

Apologies for being somewhat short, I'm not much for conversation.
