August Community Accolade Voting (Until September 2nd)

Welcome to another edition of the Community Accolades!

Simply put, the Accolades involve nominating (and later, voting for) those who have outdone themselves in a particular area each month. For variety's sake, the categories for each month may be different.

You have until the end of the month to nominate your choices. After that, we will proceed to the voting phase where members will vote among the two individuals with the most nominations for each category. The only exception is if someone manages to get 5+ more nominations than the runner-up, in which case that person becomes the winner by default.

If you wish to participate, think of who stood out the most in a particular category this month and post your choice, along with a 2-3 sentence long explanation, in this thread. You are not barred from nominating your own characters, nor do you have to fill out all the categories.

The winners will become this month's "Community Stars" and will receive a blue user title in recognition of their achievement.

So, without further ado, here are the categories:

‘Best’ Character – Which character has you engaged the most?

‘Best’ Writer – Which writer wowed you the most?

Most Helpful – A staffer or a member who gave you amazing feedback on a story or was simply there to help you sort out some of your problems.

Rising Star – Which up-and-coming member stands at the crème of the crop? (must have joined within the last month and a half OR have less than 8000 OM)

'Best' NPC – What non-player character (can be a site, personal, or story NPC) entertained you the most (for whatever reason)

Purple Ribbon - Consider this a bonus category for nominating someone who, while they may not be the best and have all the twitter followers, you believe deserves to be recognized for what they bring the the Omniverse.

During a time when staffers have been invariably busy/not feeling super motivated, Greg has pushed himself to the limit trying to make everything run smoothly. He's always the model of a great admin, but he's been damn near perfect these past few weeks.

Rising Star - Shulk

Guy's a good writer and is super nice. What more can you ask for? I admire the fact that he's always trying to learn more about the site and is willing to just let the tide of his story take him wherever. Love it.

Purple Ribbon - Rin Okumura

He was the first person to express interest in my thread, and he (inadvertantly) got me involved in a plotline with a dragon and a faction almost immediately. He's a good writer, pretty nice guy, and someone I'd like to write with in the future.

'Best’ Character – Mirand Frost has really maintained my interest this month. Her backstory is sort of a classic mad-max apocalypse dealie, and the execution is flawless.

‘Best’ Writer – Gonna give this to Gildarts again this month. I pride myself on my attention to detail, but Gildarts' pure artistry of verbiage blows everyone else out of the water.

Most Helpful – Really hard to say. Dark Link, Strazio and Omni have all been busting ass this past month, but I'm gonna have to give it to Straz for picking up tedious jobs like voting and fortnightlies.

Rising Star – Shulk, full stop. This kid has mad chops and took to the Omniverse like a natural. I see big things in his future.

'Best' NPC – Eheh...gonna have to go with Drake Oneir, sorry. I'm biased, but that scruffy sumbitch is just too much fun to write.

Purple Ribbon - Sorry, too many amazing people on here to play favorites.

‘Best’ Character – Always a difficult one..... think this month i'd have to say Guu .... the interrogation with Yu was just.....can't discribe it.

‘Best’ Writer – Mickey Mouse, His portrayal of Clayton in the Secondary saga is just a pleasure to read

Most Helpful – Gildarts, The amount of effort she is puttng in the saga and helping people improving their writing has to be rewarded ^^

Rising Star – Gamzee Makara, loving his posts and the mixture of languages is always great to read. keep it up.

'Best' NPC – Pinnochio hands down, laughing my ass off.

Purple Ribbon - Always being a friendly face in chat and very involved in all of his post i just gotta say Jak Mar !

Best’ Character – Ezrihal. I am enjoying this southern alien's man demeanor. I cant quite explain why i like this guy so much, but i totally recommend reading some of his stuff.

‘Best’ Writer – Zack Fair: He has quickly improved since he came here. He's quick to reply and great and "winging it" as well as picking up the slack when I cannot. this was a hard one however, as there are a ton of great writers here.

Most Helpful – Nealaph: there hasn't been anything catching my eye this go around, but I occasionally see the god-mind lurking around lending a hand or.. whatever the hell he has. good job man, we all appreciate you.

Rising Star – Ezrihal: to be honest i haven't really been looking about the nexus as much as i should. there are a few i have missed and i apologize. Ez here has blown me away to say the least.

'Best' NPC – Drake Oneir: Badass who likes explosions.

Purple Ribbon - Jak Mar: first of all. i like this new catagory. There are tons of members here that deserve to be mentioned, but the catagories here are usually always taken by the select few who dominate that area. Jak Mar is active. Jak Mar is kind and can be helpful from time to time. the title, "Jak of All Trades" comes to mind when i think of Jak. Great job and keep up the good work.

[Gamzee Makara]

Best Writer - Mickey Mouse. I'm with Yu on this one, Mickey's playing of Clayton is so spot on, and the character himself is in such contrast with his actual character, Mickey. This, and looking at some of his other work, leads me to believe that he can play across the board, Hero or Villain, Sidekick or Henchman. Quite a desirable trait in writing.

Most Helpful - Gildarts. Gildarts was one of the first people that really helped me out on the site, and even after I started taking off a little, she stuck with me and gave me even more advice on writing. That, and all the work she's doing for the Saga, pretty much speaks for my vote.

Purple Purple - Ludwig Von Koopa. I love seeing her art (and is quite humble about it too), and she's always got constructive criticism, as opposed to harsh or despondent words. Her styling in both art and writing I think brings a pretty nice flavor to the Omniverse.

Rising Star - Shulk. Man, the more I look at his posts, the more I really start to like them. His wording is choice, and his descriptions are vivid. I haven't even played Xenoblade, yet I really feel like I know his character rather well. It takes a great amount of skill to be able to do that. Really looking forward to writing with you.

Most Helpful – Omni. He's answered almost all of my requests promptly. The exception would be approval for my Super Moves, but even the fact that he answered it at all with the five thousand other requests, while managing all of those, is impressive. Cheers to you, omnipotent childish sadist god.

Rising Star – Gamzee. From what little I know about Homestuck, he gets the troll thing down pretty good, and s/he seems very active. Looking forward to interacting with you more.

Purple Ribbon - Jak. We've known each other since DA and he's always been crazy nice to me, constantly being supportive of me and overall being awesome.

(I honestly haven't read that much since I got back which I'm gonna fix)

Purple Ribbon: Ludwig. She does her writing and such really good, and is kind of awesome with their character. On top of that, I would have never found this website without her help.

Most Helpful – both DL and Strazio have won my heart. The SS wouldn't be the same without them and they've been awesome.

Two things made me consider you for this category: I love your writing, it's always quite inspiring and I feel like I can feel your passion though the words you choose and the hard work as well as the effort you put in. The second is when you are around (and though we don't talk much,) I feel like you always have pleasant things to say. ^.^ thanks Proto.

Purple Ribbon: Iggy
I've known him for a long time and the way he portrays in the RPs as Iggy is highly amusing to me. Keep up the good job, bro! uwu

[Omni]

Most helpful: Gildarts. The amount of work that's gone into the secondary saga and the hints to help people have been amazing. I love it when members take the initiative and do things themselves, and this might've gone to Strazio but unfortunately he's been busy with work stuff so this goes to you, Gilly.

Rising Star: Ludwig. Has been working hard both IC and OOC to get established and I believe he is now past that early stage where a lot of new joiners get burnt out and run out of ideas. On the contrary, he's established a pseudo-rivalry with Bowser Jr and even got a new member. Glad to have you in the community.

Best Writer: I found it hard to choose which category to nominate him for because there is best character, Best NPC, and this, and either of the three could be valid. But all three essentially boil down to being a good writer, and that's what Zack is, so that's what I'm nominating him for. If it's not obvious, his stuff in the secondary saga has been really good. And there are many other people I could nominate (the secondary saga is full of exemplary writers) but Zack is not someone I'd previously acknowledged. Props for being good, Zack.

I always avoid putting nominations in this topic because I feel like as admin people are going to take my names too seriously, I almost don't want to nominate anyone out of fear of discouraging those who don't get picked. But I hope nobody does take my names too seriously and remembers that everyone who has joined this RPG is awesome.

‘Best’ Character – I haven't been checking out writings outside of SS, so Imma leave this one, as my fav right now is an Secondary, soon-to-be NPC.

‘Best’ Writer – Gildarts hands down. I have read some pretty sick works, and boy, her writing is on par with all those novelists I look up to, if not better than many.

Most Helpful – This one's a VERY hard category for me, because so many people have to help me out because I'm such a rules klutz.

Rising Star – *cries inside as he is being torn in half* For me it's a massive tie between Shulk and Gamzee, but I have to say Gamzee just stands out beautifully.

'Best' NPC – Even though she is currently a Secondary, she is soon going to become a fully-fledged NPC; I award this to IRIS. I was in stitches yesterday reading Demetri's latest Saga post.

Purple Ribbon - Jak, Jak, Jak... You bring something beautiful to the Omniverse. You may not be the best of the best in writing (you're still very good; short posts, but beautiful writing in itself), and may not be the most knowledgable of the rules, but whenever you enter the chat, you light it up like Chinese New Year.

Most Helpful - I have to give this one to Omni, I get the impression that even though he's the admin, the staff are the ones who usually do all the management stuff. He stepped up and was very helpful when a number of the staff were (understandably) preoccupied with real life issues, he gets my vote for that.

Mad props to Dark Link, for helping me from the very start, Strazio, for taking up some of the more difficult tasks and not going completely under the radar even when he's swamped with work, and Gildarts, for organizing our very own awesome SS.

Purple Ribbon - There's no shortage of awesomely talented and friendly peeps on the site, but I have to go with Jak here, she's always there for anyone that needs her, the chat is just not the same without ya!

I have to admit to not actually reading that much on the site, which is stupid and I intend to rectify that, but because of that I don't really think I can recommend any one for any of the other categories. Sorry guys, maybe next time?

Most Helpful – Omni seems to have been really active and productive this month. Gotta give him props, the move rules page is much easier to understand with its descriptions and stuff.

Rising Star – Gonna have to with Gamzee, he has been doing spectacular job in SS, and his characters has had me busting my sides. Got some good talent here, so he has my vote.

Purple Ribbon - Definitely Jak. She is always friendly in chat, and always tries helping out where she can. She also although she has trouble articulating them, she has some really great ideas. Keep it up

Sadly, I haven't read deep enough into many threads to have solid opinions on the others, so ill have to withhold my vote on those.
