A strange alliance, the journey continues

Kanda feels as if he is being thrown through the gate, for the short time he is being transported he loses all sense of direction. A small boost of adrenaline rushes throughout his body. What kind of madness was this ? His grip tightened around his sword afraid of losing it in this odd place. Not being able to tell the difference between up and down Kanda can't do much more then brace himself. His senses heighten as he concentrates, getting ready for whatever may happen next.

Suddenly a bright light forces Kanda to close his eyes for just a second. As he slowly attempts to open his eyes Kanda regains his vision only to see the ground quickly heading towards him. Making sure he doesn't face plant into the uncomfortable looking ground he quickly reacts making sure he lands safely. Moving his sword behind him Kanda gracefully lands kneeling down on his left knee and catching himself with his left hand on the ground to soften the impact.

Once on the ground he looks around him. He sees Ruby brushing off some dirt and a bit of mud, apparently her landing wasn't as subtle as his own. Quickly standing up and wiping off the filth that may have found its way onto the cloth around his left knee, making sure he didn't look as ridiculous as the young girl in front of him. He sheathed his sword back into the scabbard and focused his attention towards Ruby.

'Why did you do that ? It could've been dangerous' Kanda said to her with a strict tone of voice, obviously he wasn't amused by her action earlier in front of the gate.

The girl turned around, seeing Kanda standing up straight with only a speck of filth on his knee her face changes as if she was thinking 'Are you kidding me' as her front was covered all over. Not a graceful landing at all.

' I'm not a child and can handle myself perfectly fine She said with her chin up, clearly feeling the need she has to prove herself. Kanda let out a small sigh as he shakes his head whilst walking towards her.

' Next time, when i tell you to wait or be careful and you don't listen , don't come crying to me when you get eaten by whatever creature lurks within these places.' Kanda said attempting to scare her a little bit. only to get a 'Hmpf' in response as she continues to try and get her clothes cleaned up.

Now that he spoken his mind he starts to look around him to his surroundings. He didn't notice at first but the temperature changed quite drastically when comparing it to the place they previously were. The humid atmosphere made the heat quite unpleasant for him and the long clothing he was wearing. Not before long his forehead started to produce a small amount of sweat. Around him he saw a dense forest, tall never before seen trees and bushes, flowers that look pretty and traitorous at the same time, perhaps they contained poison of some kind ? To his great annoyance small insects were flying around him already. The combination not too tall grass, dirt and mud surrounded him and Ruby who seemed to have landed at from what he could tell one of the few semi-open places.

He walked towards Ruby, seeing if he could give her a hand when behind him he heard the sound of a snorting horse. He turned around and there he was. Mr. Layton found his way into the damp jungle and he as well did not seem to have much difficulty landing after the strange journey through the gate. In his left hand he held the reigns of the by Kanda summoned horse which also found it's way through the mysterious gate.

Welcome to the insect infested forest of strange flowers and heat Mr. Layton. He said to the hat wearer. Obviously he did not like where he ended up.

Why did you bring the horse ? It seemed Kanda did not mind leaving the horse he summoned behind. It may have come over a bit cold but Kanda did not see it that way.

Thank you Kanda, it does seem to be quite warm here. And i couldn't leave this poor animal behind. It's still a living creature, whether its summoned with omnilium or not. The facial expression of the man indicated that he was puzzled by Kanda's question, before explaining how he extracted his vehicle earlier.

To avoid a discussion Kanda listened and walked towards the horse, again concentrating on the omnilium. Meany. a soft whisper said behind him by a young girl's voice. Kanda let this one go and pretended not to have heard it. It did not take as long without the carriage and the horse was vanished into thin air as he opened his eyes once again.

Mr. Layton went over to Ruby and they were talking about something, Kanda couldn't quite hear what they were talking about. He started to walk towards them when suddenly he heard another noise behind him. Mr. Layton and Ruby were standing in front of him so whatever made that noise it wasn't from his new made allies. Quickly he turned around with his right hand on his sword.

In front of him, faced down into the dirt there was a man. Yet he had something familiar. Taking a closer look at his clothes he started to recognize him. As the man turned over to lay on his back and take a large breath Kanda knew for sure, It was the mad swordsman that they encountered in the previous world. The one that attacked him and his comrades. Didn't he lost his life in the explosion caused by Mr.Layton's hat ?

Kanda did not wait for answers, he quickly drew his sword and placed the sharp looking tip a mere inch from the swordsman's throat who's eyes widen when he saw Kanda's angered yet focused gaze when pointing the weapon at him. The man who was earlier brave enough to take on both him and Ruby now reached his hands op without a second thought. Don't kill me ! He said loud enough for the others to hear.

Hold on Kanda Mr.Layton said. Give this man a chance to present his case to us, we only heard one side of the mystery that was called the arrest.

Kanda grunted yet listened to Mr.Layton Alright then, start talking. Make it fast and make it good

Ruby quickly made her way next to Kanda, her weapon also in her hands as she attempted to sound though and threatening aswell Yes make it good She copied Kanda.

The floored man looked up between Ruby and Kanda and he started talking 'My name is Quill, and i was falsely accused by those guard. All i tried was to get justice for what they did to me.They took away my family, friends, everything in ever had. I did not intend harm on anyone besides the empire.Honestly i swear it ! I thought you came there to help them and turn me over to the Empire ! I hid in the red car in order to escape them. Please don't kill me' The man quickly said, his voice had a hint of fear in it. Was that because of the weapon pointed at a vital spot or was it fear of this so called Empire, Kanda pondered.

See, it seems to be a misunderstanding after all Mr. Layton said with a calm voice as if he knew all along. No need for violence here, sheathe those weapons and help the man up, he appears to have information about this world. Perhaps he could answer some of our questions
Those words made sense, yet Kanda did not trust Quill one bit. not breaking eye contact he sheeted Mugen back into the black scabbard.

Let us find a safe place and then question him, being out here in this strange jungle isn't the smartest plan He replied to Mr.Layton, who agreed to this.

Kanda reached out a hand to the man, which the man immediately accepted. Kanda squeezed his hand firmly as he whispered Hurt them, betray me and I will end you're existence in a threatening way. Ruby who was standing close might have heard it but Kanda did not care at that point, and turned towards Mr. Layton.

Ruby's expression changed as she offered Quill a quick smile before following Kanda. Quill did not take long to head towards his savior Mr.Layton either.
I even found something resembling a path, others have been here. Mr. Layton pointed out. He had a keen eye, Kanda totally missed that. The path was narrow and no easy terrain. The forest was dense

This time ill go in first, Ruby behind me, Mr.Layton and Quill can take the rear. Stay close together Kanda said while looking towards Ruby specifically when he called her name. Ruby looked up towards the tree as if she was innocent and didn't do anything.

The group of now four slowly made their way through the jungle. Kanda taking point was looking around him carefully to make sure there was no trap, danger or any other surprises. Behind him he heard the others talking. But Kanda wasn't paying attention to that he just wanted to get to a safe place, preferably alive. They were travelling for a an hour or two when all of a sudden... 'What was that ?'Kanda thought as he thought heard something.

Ssssh! He said as he turned towards the others, who stopped as well.

Ruby raised an ear I don't hear anythi- . Ruby did not get a chance to finish her sentence or a very load roar could be heard shaking Kanda's insides. He heard trees crack near them and without a moment's hesitation he shouted towards the other Run ! .

Kanda picked up the pace, moving faster then he did before in the nexus during his fight, but he didn't think about holding back now. His coat being blown back by the wind he picks up from his running speed. Ruby quickly passed him. He looked behind him and saw Mr.layton running holding on to his head making sure he didn't lose it. Quill was running as well, the fear visible on his face.

Ruby vanished into the bushes ahead, Kanda quickly followed but a large leaf slapped him straight onto his face, blocking his vision for a second. He shook his head and opened his eyes again, he saw Ruby turned around on another small open spot, the ground was allot more muddy and slippery as where they arrived.

What are you doing ? Kanda said as he was heading towards Ruby.

Notes; Quill has said that there are two main types of people in this world, Primes and Secondaries. Primes are summoned by Omni, however Secondaries are summoned by Primes. There are also other things such as monsters in the other 'verses' that can be accessed by the gates.

Notes; She is evidently an excellent fighter.

7. Who is Kanda?
Notes; Kanda too, has excellent battle skills.

8. What are the laws in this world? Gravity is quite evidently one of them, but what about the others?
Notes; The laws of light, heat and time also seem to be in use, however, they seem to function slightly differently.

Professor's Notes;
We reached the gate, after which Ruby dashed off again. We followed her and found a criminal (named Quill) against the 'Galactic Empire' fighting her once we caught up. After I discovered a new item for my usage and used it, we found him gone. I, however, was not so non-observant. Quill had snuck into my car, but I decided to find out the other side of the story. We are now about to enter into the place that Quill calls The Tangled Greens. I think our goal is to learn as much as is possible here so we know what's what, then, find Omni, to finish this.

CHAPTER 2

PAGE 1

Dear Diary,

The trip through that gate wasn't as unpleasant as I thought, but that's not to say I liked it! I felt like I was continuously being tossed around and around and around like a ball in this tube of colours and light and... well, you get the idea :D So, after the ruckus in there, I fell through another portal and basically faceplanted into the dirt and grass, getting mud and stuff all over my skirt and shirt, and even some on my cloak. That wasn't a favourable landing...

I turned around to look at my surroundings - a giant, green jungle! It was full of wonderfully coloured plants and flowers and wildlife, it was a sight we would never see in my world! We had forests full of Grimm (beasts pretty much made of everything evil!), but that was about it. Soon enough, I heard a kind of glassy ringing and turned to see Kanda fall through the air, landing much, much more gracefully than yours truly...

Aaaand as expected, he scolded me for rushing in, telling me it was dangerous and all. Seriously, what is the guy's problem with a girl having some fun? When my eyes drifted to his knee, he had barely anything on him, apart from a few specks on his knee, while I had muck aaaaall down my front. Are you serious? was my exact train of thought at the time, and I swear he was laughing inside. As a retort, I lifted my chin up defiantly and spoke.

"I'm not a child and can handle myself perfectly fine," I replied, my tone rather irritated. Yup, this guy is the same as Weiss.
Next thing I know, he goes off telling me 'not to come crying to him when I don't listen'. My reply? An irritated, "Hmph!" to end the conversation :) I'm not sure that I won though...

A minute or two after, a snorting noise came from the gate, and I turned around to see Mr. Layton pass through with Kanda's black horse! My question was where the cart went, but that was explained in a moment when Kanda argued over the fact that Mr. Layton didn't need to bring the horse and everything and proceeded to unsummon - or it seemed more like 'extracting' - the horse. To get my revenge, I mischievously said, "Meany," as loud as possible without it being overly obvious I had said it. Kanda definitely heard it, but didn't seem to show any reaction. I've definitely pushed him to the edge!

Mr. Layton then came over to me and began to whisper, "That man from before will be following soon," he told me, a reassuring hand on my shoulder, "Try not to be too hostile towards him, okay?"

"Alright!" I replied, a little grin on my face. Yet another glassy rippling noise sounded behind us and when we turned, it was that guy from before! As soon as Kanda had gone up to the man, he placed the tip of his black sword the guy's throat and he began pleading Kanda not to kill him! Mr. Layton commanded Kanda to stand down and give him a chance to talk, then Kanda interrogated him and I decided to copy him and... yeah, you get the idea.

This man's name turned out to be Quill, and he was wanted because of trying to avenge the things that the Empire took away from him. It seemed pretty plausible to me! Mr. Layton then suggested we find a safe place to question Quill, and as we turned away, I think I heard Kanda threatening Quill, but I'm really not sure. Mr. Layton had discovered a path, and Kanda commanded that the following order be him, me and then Mr. Layton and Quill at the back. He paid special attention to me, so I just tried to look innocent, haha!

So we began to travel through the dense jungle (I think I heard Quill complain about being hungry a few times. He'd really change in the span of about half an hour!) for an hour or so before Kanda turned around and shushed us! So I began to say I couldn't hear anything, but that was before an enormous roar was heard nearby! So off we ran, Kanda taking off faster than I'd seen him before, but I passed him easily still, and I turned to see Mr. Layton and Quill running as fast as they could. I felt really bad that I had like, no strength. I dashed off past Kanda and through the bushes, deliberately leaving a leaf in the way to smack him.

However, when I hit the clearing, I didn't stop moving. My shoes slipped along on the slippery mud, and I had to fight to keep my balance. I managed to not faceplant this time, and I turned around, looking at the area. A plan was forming in my head. Kanda burst out of the bushes soon enough and asked what I was doing. Of course, I didn't reply until Mr. Layton and Quill arrived as well. I looked to our band of misfits.

"I have a plan!" I told them, and I swear I heard Kanda say 'This isn't going to end well', but I acted as if I didn't hear it, "Mr. Layton, would you be able to bury some of those explosive hats under the mud here? At the edges I think it's pretty deep," I told him, pointing to the watery-looking banks. I then looked to Kanda, "Kanda, you and I will act as decoys for whatever that thing is using our speed," the loathing of being ordered around by me was clearly seen in the man's eyes. Lastly, I looked to Quill, "And Quill, you can... Um... You can be here for moral support, you know?" and I flashed him a nervous smile.

[Professor Layton]

I sighed and quickly grabbed Quill and pulled him aside. "Alright, you go and bury these few hats over there where we came from and afterwards, keep an eye out for Ruby and Kanda, I'll bury the rest." He nodded and went to do his task, whilst I moved to do mine. After a few minutes of hearing nothing but the occasional roar and yell from either Ruby or Kanda, I finished my task. I then realised one simple flaw in Ruby's plan, we had nowhere to hide from the resulting blast that would occur. "Quill!" I called to him, "Begin digging a large hole outside the ring of bombs, large enough to fit us all in. I will gather materials for a shelter cover!" He quickly moved to do so. I began collecting all the suitable logs and branches lying around to make the shelter. I also collected plenty of leaves and vines, as well as some bark. When I returned, Quill was almost finished. I began to assemble the roof for our shelter. I quickly used the vines to make a frame for the roof by lashing the branches and logs together. I then used the remaining vines to make a basic cover spanning over the frame. I placed the bark over the top, followed by the leaves. A few stones lying around placed on top kept it down for now. I gathered up some of the dirt and mud that Quill had dug out and put some over all of it. Quill completed the hole, after which I placed the roof directly next to it. Then I heard it again. The roar, very near. I quickly jumped into the makeshift shelter and quarter pulled the roof over it. Ruby came crashing through the wildlife, running toward the bombs. "Ruby!" I shouted. "The bombs!" She quickly reacted by stopping, sending mud flying, very near to where they were buried. She dashed over to us. "Kanda, over here!" She yelled out, before quickly jumping in with us. Kanda came through a few moments later, the thudding of the creature's feet behind him. He quickly noted the rough dirt and mud mounds and leaped over them, dashing over to the other side, where he leaped over the bombs again and dashed over to where we were. I heard wildlife being crushed, knocked down, and roaring. Kanda stopped in front of the shelter. And then, it broke through.

'I have a plan' Ruby blurted out when Kanda approached her from the out of the bushes. 'This isn't going to end well' Kanda muttered while still running towards her. He then saw her eyes turn towards the people behind him and shouting

"Mr. Layton, would you be able to bury some of those explosive hats under the mud here? At the edges I think it's pretty deep," "Kanda, you and I will act as decoys for whatever that thing is using our speed,"

'Decoys ? we don't even know what this thing is. With the luck we're having we run into something resembling a level4 Akuma in there' Kanda thought calmly while he turned around and took position right next to Ruby preparing himself for what is to come.

'Ready ? Then let's go act as bait' The young warrior said full of energy and enthusiasm, looking Kanda in his eyes with the same smile she puts on right before she does something dangerous. a second later she runs towards the bushes which hid the source of the incredible loud roars. 'well she has allot of courage i give her that' Kanda thought as he saw Ruby dash towards the bushes. While quickly following her the grin on his face slowly disappeared and his eyes got a certain glare. A focused glare, ready to go to war. All of his senses were sharp, his eyes were scanning for anything out of the ordinary. His nose smelled the fresh air coming from the forest, the skin of his face feeling the damp air. All of his sense were in sync and ready for what was to come. He leaped into the same bush as he saw Ruby disappear into.

Leaping into the forest he ran several meters before the forest became more dense and more difficult to maneuver. He looked around searching for Ruby who seemed to have vanished. He slowed down a little before coming to a complete stop. It was quiet, no roar, no Ruby. Kanda felt his heartbeat picking up, the tension was unbearable. All of a sudden he heard Ruby yell 'On your right' followed by an even louder roar and immediately reacted by back stepping a meter to give Ruby space to pass him. Pass him she did, full speed, a focused gaze and a happy smile on her face. 'is she actually enjoying herself'? flew through Kanda's head. In that split second of lost focus he was too late to spot and properly dodge the large brown tail that swept towards him. Kanda still attempted to dodge but was caught off balance and was thrown against the tree behind him.

Kanda shook his head before quickly trying to get up. 'Are you alright'? A worried voice asked him. Ruby stood in front of him offering him a hand getting up. 'Yes, I'm fine. This damn jungle is slippery' he claimed in a sly lie in order to protect his ego. His hand grabbed Ruby's and she helped him up. His dark outfit didn't look as clean anymore. Ruby obviously noticed as her eyes looked towards it clearly enjoying the fact.' Thank you, where is the beast ?' Kanda asked when getting up. Ruby looked him in the eyes as if she forgot for a moment that there was indeed a monster after them 'It was right behind m-'. Before she finished the trees on their left snapped as they both saw a large set of teeth being trusted towards them. Luckily both of them had the speed and agility to jump backwards, Ruby immediately turned around and started running again, Kanda used the trees to his advantage and jumped in the nearest tree, hopped to the next only to land near where Ruby was going to run. He landed and started to run alongside Ruby, offering her a respectful nod and smile before pushing his running limits. 'Mr. Layton better be ready' Kanda said as they ran back towards the open mud field.

Ruby picked up the pace and ran through the bushes first. From behind the bushes ahead Kanda heard Mr. Layton yell towards Ruby 'Ruby ! The Bombs !'. Not long after Kanda himself rushed through the bushes 'Kanda, over here' he heard her shout. Noticing the rough mud mounds he gracefully jumped over them and ran as quickly as he could towards them. Mr. Layton and Quill built a fine little shelter in the few minutes Ruby and him were away. Without a second to waste Kanda got behind the shelter and readied himself with the others. 'Let's hope this works' Kanda whispered.

The trees near the bushes that the two speedsters came out of now cracked, another loud roar was let out as a large scaly brown creature came barging through the forest. Walking on two feet, two small claws and an arsenal of sharp teeth the creature looked dangerous and savage. Kanda had never seen a creature like this. It wasn't an akuma but damn near as dangerous as one. The large creature approached them not knowing Mr.Layton hat bombs were strategically placed. A second step of the creature was enough to cause a large explosion at the feet of the predator. It let out a painfully loud roar as it lost its balance because of its wounded leg. Mr. Laytons bombs were very effective. As the beast fell over Kanda turned to Ruby 'We've got to finish this quickly, aim for it's head'. It were exactly the words Ruby was hoping to hear. She took her large weapon and started to take aim. Kanda then leaped into the air with all his strength, making him go high up in the air. Whilst moving upwards he drew his sword and runs his index and middle finger along the back of the katana blade to activate it, whilst saying Mugen Unsheathe, Innocence Activate. The sword got a silver glow alongside it's sharp edge. Kanda reached the highpoint of his jump then moved his sword that he was holding in his right hand towards his left side. He made a horizontal slicing attack in the air, seemingly striking nothing but air yet the silver glow created a wormlike creature covered in bone armor that charged at full speed towards their attacker. Ruby fired her shots at the same time.

Both attacks hit their target and a final less louder roar was heard before the rest of its body stopped moving. Kanda landed safely next to ruby again and sheathed his sword. He looked obviously pleased with the other two 'Well done both of you'. Ruby seemed pleased to hear it and smiled towards Kanda before turning to see what their other companion was doing . Mr. Layton walked towards the creature 'This creature, i wonder what it is' he said out loud. Both Kanda and Ruby came in for a closer look as well. "whatever it is, it probably won't come after us anymore' Kanda said.

'That....was a dinosaur, shamans tend to summon them to wander around these parts.' a strange voice said from behind. The trio turned around and saw another strange creature standing by the trees on the other side of the small field. It was a 3 foot rat like creature. All three of them stood there in silence looking at the creature ' What ? was it something i said ?' The creature said. It was of course Ruby that went over to her first ' Hi I'm Ruby, what are you doing here ?' she said cheerful as ever. 'Hello, i'm Matilda Waltz, I'm a nurse from Ambrosia. Me and my group came here to treat some injured hiker when i heard this ruckus.' Both Kanda and Mr.Layton walked towards the newcomer and Ruby started to introduce them. 'The one with the hat is Mr.Layton, and the one with the sword is Kanda, and the other one is- euh.... where is Quill ?' Ruby asked. Kanda turned around but Quill was nowhere to be seen.

"Ready? Then let's go act as bait!" were the words that left my mouth before I bolted through the foliage and deep into the jungle, leaving my black-haired companion behind. I could see the large creature for miles, and I deduced two reasons for that; it was either crawling of crouching. Actually make that three, it could be flying too. But whatever I was running at must have been huge, and I love huge monsters!

To get a better vantage point, I ran - yes, ran - up the closest tree and grabbed hold of an overhanging vine. When I looks down, I saw the giant, scaly creature that had (disappointingly!) crouched down, and had started eyeing of Kanda as he approached - unaware of the predator that he may have become prey to.

"On your right!" I called to him, and the creature instantly roared at the top of its very big lungs. That kinda shook me from the tree, but I managed to barely stop myself from making another disgraceful fall. I quickly took off after regaining my balance, shooting past Kanda - but not for long before I heard a large crash back in his direction! So then it was a 'Ruby saves the day!' moment.

I decided to be nice and go back to help him up, putting in the extra effort to ask him if he was okay. His reply; complaining about the jungle being slippery. He was obviously trying to protect his reputation, but that didn't matter to me. What did matter though was the fact that he had dirt and muck all over his black uniform, and the word 'karma' ran amuck in my mind for a mere three seconds.

Kanda asked where the beast was, and I began to say that it was behind me, but the word 'me' didn't find it's way out of my mouth before we were startled by the crashing of trees. I dashed out of the way of some falling trees as I watched Kanda pounce into the trees like a wild animal. I kept on running, my feet more patting than pounding the ground with my weight. Soon enough, Kanda dropped beside me, and we both pushed ourselves to our limits, running full speed ahead.

Before I could accidentally set off the bombs Mr. Layton and Quill had so carefully placed (you could tell which ones were placed by Quill), the man in the top hat warned me, and I managed to skid to a stop, before leaping over the minefield. Kanda was quick to follow, making his way across just as easily. I glanced at the masterpiece the duo had crafted in the short time that they had, and I jumped straight into the bunker they had dug out.

I gawked as the dinosaur - yes, it was a dinosaur! - placed (or should I say misplaced? Haha!) it's foot on the minefield, causing the earth below it to surge upwards like a wave of rock and mud, the explosions underneath damaging the beast's leg and causing it to crash to the earth.

Kanda commanded to aim for the head, and - like a good girl - I did as I was told. I popped up from the bunker and slammed Crescent Rose's blade into the soft soil, aiming her barrel at the dinosaur's head. I glanced upwards and saw Kanda activate some kind of maneuver that set a silver glow along the blade of his sword, before he sent out a strange, worm creature. Realising I'd lost focus, I looked back through the scope and timed my shot with the impact of the worm, both hitting the head at the same time, and causing it to explode into that familiar rainbow essence we call Omnillium.

Strangely enough, Kanda complimented both me and Mr. Layton (because, you know, who needs Quill, right? Right?). Kanda and Mr. Layton began to wonder what the creature was, and I was about to tell them, when suddenly...

"That... was a dinosaur, shamans tend to summon them to wander around these parts," was heard behind the group. We turned to see a strange rat-woman standing a little way from us. I rushed up to her, and quickly began to introduce myself, and asked what she was doing there. She introduced herself as Matilda Waltz, a nurse from some place or group called 'Ambrosia'.

I proceeded to introduce the others, Mr. Layton first, then Kanda (I felt like telling Matilda that Kanda was stubborn!) and then I attempted to introduce Quill - but he was gone, leaving an imaginary silhouette of himself behind. That man was more trouble than myself.

Quiet yet observant Kanda looked around him, there was no sign of Quill. Instead a new person, or perhaps creature was a better word, stood in front of the trio. Never before did he see such a strange creature. She even seemed intelligent and was communicating at a normal human level. The fact that it didn't seem to bother Ruby did make Kanda a bit more suspicious of her. But for now he went with it and asked the questions that were bothering him most.

'What is this place, Ambrosia, you speak of ? And where exactly are we ?'

The creature that introduced herself as Matilda Waltz blinked a couple of times looking at Kanda's direction. 'Where are you ? What are you, new ? This verse is called the tangled green, it's rich forests cover most of its land. And Ambrosia is a city ruled by princess Guu, a strong prime. The city is a safe haven for many like us that were looking for a place they could live peacefully. It's actually not that far from here, about two hours travelling in that direction' Matilda pointed toward the direction to which she was referring.

Both Mr. Layton and Ruby listened carefully to her words and seemed excited to hear there was a city nearby, civilization wasn't far off. But for Kanda it sounded too good to be true. A safe city ? In a place like this ? There must be a catch, there must be something off with a story like that.
'Perhaps you could take us there ? So we can see for ourselves ?' Kanda asked

'I could, but it wouldn't be a smart idea'

'I knew it, something isn't right' Kanda thought to himself 'And why isn't that a smart idea?' He asked in a smug kind of way.
'Because it's getting dark, and travelling during nighttime wouldn't be the best move now would it mr.swordsman?' The small creature said with a self satisfied tone of voice. Kanda was obviously getting annoyed by the creature's words, though she was right, the sun started to glow yellow red as it was slowly heading towards the horizon. 'perhaps it might be smart to set up camp before you three continue on your journey.'

Mr. Layton didn't waste a second to respond to the suggestion. 'That's a fine idea miss, will you be joining us ?'

'Joining you ? didn't you hear what I said earlier, I was on my way to treat an injured hiker, which I haven't located yet. So I'd suggest you folks get working on your camp. And beware, there are dangers lurking in these parts. I wish you all luck and perhaps we will meet again in Ambrosia' After these final words she picked up her bag and started walking off between the trees. Leaving the strange trio behind.

Ruby blinked when she heard the word camp and seemed rather excided. Then again she seemed to be in high spirit no matter what the situation. The female warrior was still young, innocent and naive. Even though she was strong she was still a young girl in Kanda's eyes. Mr. Layton was a very smart man, but no warrior. He observed them discussing how to set up camp as he was thinking things over himself. 'If Ambrosia is real then it would be a great place to rest and figure out our next move, If its a trap it may be too much for us to handle. Perhaps its better that I go and scout ahead, although Ruby probably won't agree.' Kanda revealed a soft smile at that last thought.

'What are you smiling about ? excited to camp as well ?' Ruby asked excited.

'Something like that, If you go out to find some wood to start a fire and Mr. Layton find something to eat, then i will clear a small area here for us to set up camp'

Mr. Layton looked at Kanda, and he obviously knew something but agreed to it. Ruby was already dashing towards the trees before even answering. 'This girl really has too much energy' Kanda muttered. Mr Layton then approached Kanda and with a low tone of voice he spoke; 'I know what you are planning, firewood would've been easily summoned using Omnilium. Even though i do not fully agree i can see i cannot stop you. I will explain it to Ruby once she returns'

The hat wearing man was even smarter than Kanda gave him credit for. 'I will send a message about my findings, one way or the other. Please be safe and tell Ruby we will meet again, and thank you.'

Kanda nodded towards Mr.Layton before dashing towards the direction he was told Ambrosia was located.
"Ruby, i'm sorry but this is for the best. Untill we meet again" The words echoed through his mind as he slowly faded into the darkness of the forest.

Miss Waltz proceeded to explain this strange 'Ambrosia' place. I wasn't really tuned in that much, but I did hear that it was some kind of faction, owned by a Princess of some sort. It wasn't Princesses I got hyped by, it was warriors and heroes! As long as this 'Princess' was a hero too, I'd be happy. What I did take notice of, though, was how keenly Kanda was listening. He clearly was thinking of checking the place out. Next thing I knew (yes, I was still very zoned out, but I can't recall exactly what about) Kanda had asked to be taken there, but was swiftly shut down by Miss Waltz's mention of night time...

But you know what night time meant? CAMPING! Well, that's what Miss Waltz suggested anyway, haha! I was about to ask if Miss Waltz wanted to join us, but Kanda had beaten me to the chase. Oh well. It just meant it was the three of us together! It was going to be so fun! Kanda decided to send me off to get firewood, and I rushed off to get some, missing a few major details. I looked around the area. Firewood, firewood, firewood, was the recurring thought in my head at the time as my gave shifted around the jungle. Soon enough, though, I realised the mistake I made; if we can summon anything with Omnillium, why couldn't I summon firewood? Or maybe...

When I returned to the spot I left the two men at, there was only one left; and he wasn't wielding a sword. I gingerly approached Mr. Layton and opened my mouth to speak, but the man silenced me with a finger to his lips.

"Kanda had to leave to find Ambrosia. I personally knew you weren't going to fall for his distraction," he began to explain. I nodded in acknowledgement, but what the man in the top hat couldn't see was my right fist clenched and shaking at my side. He had completely ditched us, and that made me rather upset. My head perked up when Mr. Layton spoke again, "Do not fret. Kanda said that you will meet again," he gave me a comforting smile.

"Thanks, Mr. Layton. I understand," I replied. I actually didn't understand why Kanda thought he needed to hide it from me! I'm not a child! I could accept things and move on as perfectly an adult would, but noooo, Kanda thought that maybe...

Okay, maybe I was overreacting a little, but I still wasn't a happy 'camper' by his escape. I nodded to Mr. Layton, words unrequited to tell him that we should start putting the tents up. I worked on fashioning my own red and black tent, obviously small as Mr. Layton was sleeping in a separate tent, while the detective summoned one with a colour scheme suspiciously mimicking that of his tall car - to tell the truth, if you were to turn the car into a tent, that's what it would have been!

Finally we'd set up camp and started a perfectly good fire, at which we roasted some s'mores! Yah, I did it, I summoned marshmallows. I have to admit, it was quite nice eating marshmallows under the starry jungle sky. It wasn't something I could have experienced back at home, that I was grateful for. However, the thought of going back home had yet to leave my head. I was desperate to get back, but I had to have fun along the way, otherwise it'd get boring, wouldn't it?

As the moon hit the centre of the sky, I extracted the flame and the two of us said our goodnights. I was hoping I'd get a good night's sleep, but... Tears began to slip from my eyes. Kanda leaving seemed to have set me off more than I had initially suspected. I looked up to my tent's ceiling and wiped my eyes. I had to stay strong. I wasn't going to be a child. At least I didn't want to be, but that wasn't going to happen as I silently cried myself to sleep.

I was woken up to the sound of footsteps on dirt and the extracting of materials. I stretched in my black sleeping back and yawned very loudly, and heard Mr. Layton greeting me outside the tent. I groaned as I slipped out of my nice, warm bag and out of the tent.

"Morning... Already?" I yawned, still stretching. I watched as Mr. Layton extracted his tent and then mine, smiling at me in greeting. He quickly finished, the extracting being much quicker than summoning, and turned to me.

"So... Ruby... What are you going to do? Are you going to after Kanda?" he asked me in a soft and quiet tone, and I pondered for a moment before forming my response.

"I... Guess I'll find him later. I kinda wanna explore what else is in this place first," I explained, smiling halfheartedly. Me. Layton scratched the back of his head under the brim of his hat.

"I see... I'd like to try my luck at locating our problem man," he told me, referring to Quill, "So I guess this is where we part ways," he extended a hand towards my and I firmly took it - well, as firmly as my dainty hand could do.

I was off, bolting through the thick foliage, making a beeline, however zig-zaggy, for the portal we first came through. But... Something caught my eye. I skidded to a stop, kicking up dirt and plant matter as I came to a clumsy halt. My vision spun to the smoking, hot-looking gate standing in a small clearing. I'd actually noticed that exact same one in the large white area we started in, so it seemed like something of a shortcut.

Obviously, being the girl I am, I made new plans and took the shortcut. I stepped over a few of the the high roots as I made way for the gate. I looked at the earth beneath it, and I wouldn't have called it 'dehydrated' or 'lacking foliage'; the entire area was charred, burnt to a crisp. I threw a mischievous smile to the large gate. Here's to a new adventure, I cheered in my head, and jumped through the swirling space.

Layton, if you are reading this, I am terribly sorry for doing this, but I really want to do something as Ruby, and the only way was to write an editing post. Please forgive me ;O;

I stood there for a moment, watching her run off through the plant life. I was quite sad to see her go, as now I was once again alone, and on my own. I then began to pack up the camp, extracting the two tents. A while later, I set off toward where we had taken care of the dinosaur. No doubt that Quill had escaped whilst we were distracted, and slipped away, out of the shelter. I looked around the area, until I noticed on a nearby bush, a small piece of fabric, the same colour as the fabric beneath Quill's armour. I continued in the direction of the fabric until I came upon our campsite again. Quill had been following us. Well, had he followed Ruby, I would have seen him, and had he followed me, well, we'd be going in circles. So that must mean that he had followed Kanda. It would appear that I too, would be heading to this ‘Ambrosia’. It was only now when I rethought the name that the flashback hit.
I had been here before! It was evident that this ‘Omni’ being had taken Ambrosia from my world and blended it with his. Who knows what was the same and what was different? Ambrosia was long gone in my world, but here, it was evidently a thriving civilization! This was quite the remarkable discovery! As 'an eminent archeologist'(Luke's words), this could become groundbreaking, assuming my collected information was relative to my world, and not this one. I slight feeling of homesickness swept over me briefly. Oh how I missed my friends, my home, in London. How I wished I could just see them! No, the sooner I got on with my journey, the sooner I could see them. I hoped.

Professor's Notes: Unfortunately, Kanda and Ruby have both left me, however, it would seem that I shall be meeting Kanda again soon. It would seem that Quill has followed Kanda, and that they both went to Ambrosia. I shall be heading off to them now also.

Well, here I come, Ambrosia. I shall enjoy seeing something slightly closer to home.
