Darren shans books are fun , they are aimed at young teens but are pretty damn dark at points, his saga of Darren Shan and the Demonata books are fun reads, really creative monsters.

Dark Towers series (I'm sure many of you have read this already) is worth reading. The series kinda trails off near the last 2 or 3 books, and the ending of it is kinda >_<!!!!, but the first 3 books are definitely interesting. The Gunslinger is probably the best book out of the 7.

I'm not surprised you do. It's one of the best series I've ever read.

I also recommend pretty much anything by Robert J. Sawyer. Very good Sci-fi author.

If you have the time, look into the Wheel of Time series. It can be kinda heavy with the descriptions and the plot moves a bit slowly at times, but the characters are well developed and the world mechanics are interesting.

It honestly depends on what you want to read.

Honestly as far as classic Sci fi and stuff goes I like anything by Robert Hielien. The man gave us StarShip Troopers and Stranger in a Strange land, as well as many other classic novels!

The Ender and Shadow series by Orson Scott Card are also pretty damn good.

Wheel of Time, though as G-Man says it is a bit description heavy. Still, decent read.

The Belgariad and Mallorean series by David Eddings. Awesome Fantasy novels. Read in that order. Belgariad first then Mallorean.

I do like a lot of Issac Assmov and Ray Bradbury books. There are a bit older but classics none the less.

Also the Shanara series, Magic Kingdom series, and knight of the word series by Terry Brooks.

Also anything Terry Pratchett, the man was an amazing author. Comedic Fantasy.

Niel Gaiman as well. Nevherwhere and American Gods are some of my favourites. Anansi Boys was also good.

Good Omens was a book written by Gaiman and Pratchett. Amazing!

Newer books? The Night Angel trilogy and the Dark Prism series by Brent Weeks.

Ready Play One is also a decent read. Basically set in the future and it is 80's quotes the sci fi novel. That is all I am saying. Read it.

Lot of the books other people mentioned here are also pretty good too! You should read those as well.

If you want some turn off your brain military action John Ringo is ok for that. He also does some Sci Fi fluff novels as well. Decent writer, the stories are just don't have much depth.

The Culture series by Iain M. Banks. Best space operas I've ever read, period. I recommend starting with Surface Detail, even though it's not the first in the series. It has not one, not two, but THREE awesome female protagonists.

Also anything by Heinlein is good; I'm particularly fond of Stranger in a Strange Land.

If you like your science fiction more on the plausible side, any of the Coyote novels by Allen Steele are fantastic colonization stories.

Anyway, big fan. Hercule Poirot is my favorite, but I'm running out of him! Any book by her is great, but if you ever get the chance, read just one!

Suggestions based on personal adoration, and popularity among others: And Then There Were None, (my fav.) or Murder on the Orient Express. Love them both for different reasons. But they are her well known ones so get reading!

I believe there was a typo (Asimov).

I enjoy Asimov's short stories. He kind of defined the standard of how to write good science fiction with a theme surrounding A.I. I'd suggest taking a look at "Reason" and "Evidence", being that they are my personal favorites, but they're all worth a read through.

I like the Animorphs.

Yeah.

I remember that book series because I constantly found copies lying all over the house. Tried reading one, but got bored a few pages in. Though, I was like, seven or eight years old at the time, so patience wasn't really one of my strengths.

Currently reading through the Confucian Analects. They're actually not boring, but I'm kind of a geek for old historical texts so your mileage may vary. Also good are the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius.

For fiction, I'm constantly starving, I'm afraid. In keeping with the "old dead people" theme it's mostly HP Lovecraft and Oscar Wilde these days. Strange bedfellows to be sure, but they keep me happy.

Mister deaths blue eyed girls - Not a series but DAMN well worth reading. Staged in the 50's, really suspenceful(at times) yet the ending is crap. In my opinion.

They're mandatory reads in my English curriculum, but Of Mice and Men along with To Kill a Mockingbird are both really, really good books. Read 'em if you feel like, or don't. Either way's fine.~
