Character name: Ditto
Character source: Pokemon (uses anime backstory) - (Original Character)
Character history: In Kanto, in a secret island laboratory, the resources of the infamous criminal gang Team Rocket were pooled into one scientific pursuit; the creation of the ultimate Pokemon. This weaponised lifeform would follow Team Rocket without question, utilising its unimaginable power for the goals of its master.
Giovanni, the leader of Team Rocket, had found a single hair folicle of Mew, the rare Pokemon considered to be the ancestor to all others. The idea was to clone Mew and manipulate its genetic code so as to construct Giovanni's goal.
During this arduous and expensive process, many variants of their objective were created, but ultimately they were unfit. While some never lived and others were hideous abominations, the vast majority of failures were later known as Dittos. These pink, formless blobs had inherited Mew's ability to shapeshift into any known person, object or Pokemon they had knowledge of. These Pokemon were dumped and left to integrate into the wild Pokemon population.
One of these Dittos, however, gained sentience. It watched, suspended in a tube, as the scientists scurried about the laboratory, and he soon learned of their purpose. Convinced that he was that perfect Pokemon Giovanni's team strived for, he waited patiently for the day that he would be recognised.
Unfortunately, as he was a Ditto, he was abandoned like all the rest.
Unable to accept this injustice, Ditto returned to the laboratory, artfully using its Transform ability to become the scientists and gained access once again. His plan was to deposit himself back into another tube, where the scientists would complete their master work on him.
However, when he returned, the laboratory was decimated. A single Pokemon stood in the center, eyes afire with telekinetic power. It spotted Ditto and slammed him into the ground with its mind. When he awoke, the psychic Pokemon was gone.
In time, Ditto learned that this was considered the 'successful' clone; Mewtwo. Giovanni spared no expense in trying to woo the independant creation to his cause, but it eventually left, disappearing into the wilds. Ditto hated this Mewtwo; it had stolen his destiny and his rightful place at Giovanni's side. In order to prove that he was the true creation, he would hunt down Mewtwo and destroy him.
Ditto spent years collating data about Mewtwo; his strengths and weaknesses, disposition, and all of the techniques used to create him. Often using Giovanni as a disguise, Ditto had all of Team Rocket's information at his fingertips.
Eventually Ditto tracked Mewtwo down to Cerulean Cave. As he stood outside, ready to enter and claim his destiny, he vanished from the face of Kanto.
