Here's the plan I came up with, so I don't surprise you IC. We're gonna stop before we enter the town and get into an argument. The argument will be whether or not to simply kill Eighteen or not. I'll argue for no. It'll get heated, to the point where the townspeople notice, and Eighteen groggily hears some of it as well. In the end, you'll make a play to take her, I'll hit you, and you storm off into the desert while I continue into town.

All of this will, of course, be a ruse. We'll discuss this plan before we reach the town, since Eighteen might have heard our first plan and we'll need to adjust it. Because she could simply come back to hound us if we kill her, we decide the best course is to split up so that she can only focus on one of us at a time, leaving the other to enact at least half the plan. I decide to keep her with me, since she already probably has a vendetta against me, and I decide to stay in town because I might be able to fool her into thinking I'm a good guy by doing heroic things in town. That leaves you with gathering up the strength of the bandits outside town. From time to time, our forces clash and while they battle, we battle as well. Of course, while we're doing so, we'll be exchanging information amid grapples and close quarters combat. If all goes according to plan, when we finally get our individual groups under our sway, we combine forces and the Waste is ours. Is Eighteen manages to foil me, you bring in your guys and take the town by force, which means we still win.

What so you, Thaal? It'll mean a lot of individual writing on your end, except when we clash. Or if you kidnap Eighteen, which may be planned out IC if I need her out of the way for awhile.

I approve of the plan overall. I was thinking that perhaps we could both start manipulating the populous and laying down clues to implicate Rolland as the actual master of the bandits so that we can turn the townspeople AND the bandits against him. It'll make merging the town and the bandits a little bit smoother and help us undermine him and keep him from turning our respective factions against us.

What do you think of that?

I don't at all mind writing solo a little bit. I have a weird pace where I write a ton for a bit then taper off then pick it back up again. It's a flow that rarely fits other people's schedules haha.

The main thing I had with splitting up was so that Eighteen could only foil us individually, so I'm fine with implicating Roland as the "mastermind" behind your rise to power out there, though I think I'd prefer to have him on our side when all's said and done...The end result of our plan we can figure out as we do more and start getting a feel for how the plan is going.

So, I'm trying to get this straight, how the Lantern Rings could be of use, if our summons have the powers we do. Does it mean our rings could only summon duplicates of us? Or does it mean, for instance, I can conjure a sword if I have purchased it as a move, etc? Or....?

I'm excited about the idea, and I agree with Sinestro..... fear could well be the most powerful source of power, even of exploitation, ever.

Just to let it be none, fear is not the most powerful motivator. It is love. Whether you use love for another, a concept, a place, a thing, or a deity, if you can manipulate that love, you not only influence that person, but you get them to WANT to help you, instead of doing so because they have no choice and then resenting you.

Also, apologies. The last couple of days have been particularly hectic for me with the twins, work, etc. Also, I promised the wife that I would take some time away from the laptop for family time. I'll get you guys up a roleplay tomorrow.

Additionally, fear is the route to quick power, sure. But it never lasts. Look at people like Genghis Khan or Attila the Hun. They gained strength quickly, then shortly after their deaths, the empire crumbled. Then we see people like Julius Caesar and Alexander the Great, who were loved by the people and whose empires lasted for generations, until such time as someone who ruled by fear took the throne.

Hell, even look at ancient Japan and Egypt. Their rulers were considered to be Gods and the countries still exist from ancient time.

Not true! In fact his name was synonymous with wisdom and very good leadership in the era when it was penned. Machiavelli was a genius at controlling people when they didn't automatically assume that the government was in control. Nowadays we hand our power over, we expect it. Back then, in the savage times, when power had to be rested from other nobles and the population alike, Machiavelli's teachings were absolutely valid!

Just like here in the Omniverse. Is it better to be feared or loved? Both, but if you must choose, choose fear.
