So, I was thinking about this earlier and I wanted to see what everyone else thought.

In the Hunger Games (which is pretty similar to DA), contestants can get "sponsored" which allows them to receive useful items such as medical supplies and the like during the Games. Usually this occurs with "fan favorites" and the like. My idea was, what if we brought something like this to the Abyss? The way I see it working is:

At the beginning of every phase, Karl sets up a voting thread. The choices in that thread will be those who are in the worse shape as of the end of the last phase (least HP left, least SP left). People NOT in DA can vote for which one they think should get some help. That person would receive an item that would give them an immediate 1 or 2 HP or 1 SP. The voting will last until the end of that phase, and at the beginning of the next, the winner will receive his or her boost.

This might be something that would need to wait until this event comes back around, but I figure there's no harm in discussing it now. And who knows? Maybe Karl will like the idea and implement it.

I'm against it. Firstly, I think there are enough items already. Second, I don't think any participant should be exempt from receiving a sponsor, regardless of the condition they're in.

@ Blackfire: 1) It wouldn't be an item, per se. Rather, it'd be a small heal that would be used immediately Ex: the food items in Smash Bros.

2) While I can see what you mean, the idea behind this is to allow people who're at the bottom of the rankings a chance to continue competing. It's not, like, an ACTUAL sponsor, though it could be if that were the way it was being roleplayed. It could also be Karl Jak throwing someone a bone, or a character coming across a hidden First Aid Kit. Etc. The heal effects would be kept at a minimum (only 1 or 2 HP recovery), and we might leave it at a once per game thing as well.

I like this, only instead of each round, I'd do every other day, so once every 2 rounds and I'd up the love given. That way in a 10 phase DA, it only happened 5 times. I love this idea. I feel like players like Strazio need this, as they are still hanging on due to their writing. With this, perhaps some like him could do more than just hang on? Become a threat again?
