Paging Dr. Diablo, Come in Dr. Diablo
#1
Let's say I made a character who I wanted to serve Diablo, would I be able to contact the big guy? Is he in the yellow pages? Do I need to form a cult and perform a summoning? A seance? Do I need a Ouija board? What gives, how do?

I'd rather not get banished just to start doing missions for the big guy, is this possible?

You could serch for aomeone already doing missions for him?

You'd need to meet him in person first. Same as you'd need to do for anyone you wanted to contact with a Communicator or such. How you get there is either gonna require a Banishment or a Void Quest may be possible (though there won't be a return gate, so you'll need to go through the big guy to leave again). After all that... well, read some of Trixie's stuff. She regularly communes with the Big D.

Yea, no, that's cool. I don't feel like going through 20k words just to help the big D on top side, is this seriously the official answer here, cause that's kind of lame for someone to have to go through that much work just to start interacting with him. Are we saying Diablo doesn't have the kind of pull for cults to worship and due his bidding without first being banished? Seems weak.

Think about it like this: How hard is it to get in direct contact with Palpatine? Now, how hard do you think it is to get in contact with Big D? You're free to "work for him" as you desire. Just don't expect direct contact. Right now there are two Primes who've officially exited the Underverse. One is Trixie and the Empire is hushing it up, and the other is Tearen Wover and he's retired and gone. That said, there may be agents of Diablo scattered about the Omniverse. They may or may not have a line to the guy, but don't expect them to be common. If they were common, the two main NPC Factions would be a lot more concerned about the Underverse than their current "pretend it Diablo doesn't exist" policies would lead you to believe.

The easiest way would probably to get into contact with Trixie or a random NPC of your design and start working for him that way. But if you really wanna get into direct contact with the dude, you'll need to meet him.

There are agents of Diablo, as well as cults that worship him, in the Omniverse. They would exist on the fringes of society, because -- as Jeff makes mention of -- the two 'main' super powers officially go about pretending that the Underverse is nothing but history texts. Anything like that that appears in Minas Tirith or Coruscant is going to be suppressed in the heavy-handiest kind of way possible (a la Trixie).

From personal experience, I can tell ya that it takes considerably more than 20k words (at least, when you're as bad at it as me). So far I've got over 80k words in Coruscant and haven't even come close.

So yeah, if anything, Diablo might actually be easier to contact than some other major NPCs, since there's actually a specific quest you can take that ends with you speaking to him.

To be fair, is your sole aim really trying to meet Palp, Reece? I know you're trying to build a rep, but if you were really pushing to meet him you'd probably be close to it by now.

Nah, I gave up on being part of the Empire months ago, but even before then I musta had, like, 60k written... though I was always more inclined to meeting Wrath than Palps, personally.

Point still stands, though. It takes a lotta words to talk to the big shots.

Just seems like a lot to talk to the guy, you write that much to get out of hell, not necessarily to talk to Diablo. I was hoping I could just start doing deeds in the name of Diablo and after a certain amount of recognition Diablo would find me a devote follower, worthy of contact and instruction. I guess truthfully I don't mind the 20k+ word count to talk to him, it's the whole getting banished thing. (No longer able to interact with a majority of the members on the site) Would Diablo not want active agents upstairs and recruit them?

Would recieving premonitions or visions of some sort in the Astral verse be permissible? Nothing overt like a 1 on 1 chat with the big guy, but maybe some kind of prophetic dreams that detail plans to further Diablo's agenda?

You gotta think about this from Big D's perspective. You start catching rumors of some nobody going around and doing things in your name. You have no idea who this guy is or even how he knows who you are, but maybe its legit. Who knows? First thing you'll do is send a crony out to scope this dude. After all, you're not gonna put it past Palpatine or Aragorn to get some spy into your organization to figure out your plans. You know, at least, that Palpatine is aware that people can leave the Underverse. You know that saggy, wrinkly SOB is gonna wonder why YOU haven't decided to leave yet. You can't trust this person until you're sure they're on the up and up.

So you send your minion. First, all he does is watch what the guy does from the shadows. Tails him from place to place. Eventually, he contacts rando and lets him know he's with Big D. He'll give the guy a few minor missions, things which if he's a spy won't affect the overall plan if he tattles. But you're never gonna be sure of the dude until you meet him face to face. So, you're gonna tell your minion to relay a message. The guy needs to come down here so you can look him in the eye and telepathy/insight out any shenanigans. The minion gives him your ultimatum: continue being a low-level nobody doing menial tasks and never seeing Big D, or find a way to the Underverse and become a true acolyte.

At least, that's how I'D do it if I were a big, scheming demon with enemies everywhere. Sure, he's gonna want some active dudes working for him. But he's not gonna trust every joker who goes on a murder spree and claims it was all for Diablo. At the end of the day, whether you wanna get Banished or take the Void Gate there, you'll never be more than the lowliest of pawns to Diablo until you meet him face to face.

I agree with the crocodile, if I were Diablo I would not be in too much of a hurry to trust anyone. With that said evil premonitions would be a cool reward for doing a number of menial tasks. What missions could one do for diablo though? I guess weakening the kingdom and empire are good starts but do it in a hush manner.

I basically agree with all of Jeff/Crocodile's very well-written and reasoned posts here. Not saying it's impossible for you to get a direct telepathic communication from him, but start small. An Underverse escape quest (the only other way of contacting him) is no mean feat, after all. It's not as simple as JUST getting banished.

Frankly, I would think Diablo would rather only employ direct communication with agents who've proven their loyalty in the pits and been branded. That kind of thing can't be faked.
Curious about me and the characters I play? See the 'Staff' page! See also the rosters for my characters Samus Aran or Enel if you'd like to see examples of well-formatted rosters. Hope you enjoy the Omniverse!
