March Community Accolade Polling
#1
Welcome to Community Accolades, your monthly platform to highlight the success of your peers.

Moving forward, we’ll hold this thread at the start of the month as a way to look back on the previous month here at the Omniverse. We’re a bit late with this one, but it’s because we still had some stuff to hash out, but next month, you can expect this up those first few days.

Monthly Community Accolades entails nominating and voting on who you think best epitomizes the categories selected for each month. Categories may vary each month.

To streamline this, we'll be rolling together nomination and voting. We may turn this into a two-step process if it becomes too cumbersome.

For now, all you have to do is read the category, think of someone who best exemplifies it, and explain your reasoning in 2 or 3 sentences. Post that all in this thread. There is no rule against nominating your own characters, and you do not have to nominate for all four categories (just those you feel comfortable with).

Winners will become ''Community Stars' until the next vote (what does that mean? Guess you'll find out in a few days).

‘Best’ Character – Which character has you engaged the most?
‘Best’ Story – What story did you find most riveting/entertaining?
Most Helpful – Can be a particularly helpful staffer or a member who gave you amazing feedback on a story or was simply there to help you sort out some problems.
Rising Star – Which new member stands at the crème of the crop? (The member must have joined within the last month and a half)

Voting will last for 3 days. After that, we'll announce winners.

Best character - Gilgamesh
This one was a tad tricky, since I've been following multiple characters during my stay here, and the variety and bright array of character and genre here is just perfect. Samus, Link, Harry, Sasuke and Mami are just a few characters that spring to my mind as 'being the best' (or at least my favourites to read about) when this question is posed. Taking the cake and my vote here, though, has to be Gilgamesh. I've always enjoyed reading tyrannical and power-exerting characters, which is probably why I enjoy the character of Gilgamesh so much. You really capture the essence of a dominating and noble presence really well with him, Wyatt. Keep at it, dude :frogsiren:

Best story - Abstaining from this one, I just can't chooooseeee.

Most helpful - Can I vote for you, Proto? xD the feedback you gave me on the Daemon and the Devout was extremely helpful for me, and I'm trying to put all you said down to work. I can also see your doing a lot to keep the site functioning and progressing, and I'm sure it's not just I within the community who appreciates that deeply.

Rising star - Sivo
I won't be egoistical and nominate myself here Tongue this vote goes toward my fellow newcomer and a guy I've wrote with before, Sivo. I'm not that deep into Warhammer or anything like that, but I always enjoy reading what you write, since you role-play robotic ethics and mannerisms very well with him. He also has some pretty cool moves and abilities that I'm quite envious I couldn't mimic with Jon, lol. It was a great pleasure writing with you, man, and I definitely believe Sivo is a character to watch.

Best Character: Retane

No one can disagree that you've done some great work in March, with the malefactor quest and the thread in book club with Jack Frost. As I read more and more about Retane I found myself inclined to like his character and then start to understand the action he takes. This was a close tie between Gilgamesh for me because he's also been doing some great work but my hat is off to you because there's something to be said about the enticingly distinct characteristics and merit deserving strength of the Namekian that should be praised.

Best story: Magus

His thread goes through March and while I may be biased in this by nominating Magus, he's recently the only Prime that I've seen who is avidly searching for Omni. At the same time the straight forward route he takes along with the path and direction he chooses all fit pretty well into the thread. With the strength of his character and how it is so well refined I feel when he put his own spin on the pursuit, it easily became a story that just falls into place one that I just had to read. I've had a great time reading his thread, find it inspirational, and I feel as though as an audience I've gained something from the journey he has taken.

Best staffer: Luffy

To be fair, I think you're all brilliant and amazing, but Luffy's helped me out this March with improving Gildarts. This isn't to just say he's approved a few things for me, but actually when I was trying to create moves I looked at his template to see his descriptions because some of them come directly from the anime/manga. When I was making my moves for Gildarts I wanted a clean and thorough explanation as well as something that was fair in the Omniverse, he sets a great example for these things and more. Luffy is a pleasant guy, I respect him and his skill.

First off, I'm start by saying that I don't think people should be able to vote for themselves.

Best Character - Shang Tsung
If you're not familiar with Shang you need to read ASAP. The way he views the world is very interesting, along with how he interacts with other people. Every time he meets someone you can't help but to wonder if they will be his next victim. It's weird, because his motive seems pretty forward enough (eat souls and regain power) but what captures the attention of the reader is how he is going to go about this goal.

Most Helpful - Sasuke Uchiha
I saw Sas because he has personally helped me several times. We bounce ideas off one another sometimes, and he is always up for giving my work a quick proofread, just to make sure that it flows well and whatnot (marker idea in my last post was his idea, admittedly).

Best Story - (Right Now) I can't really make a decision. If I can, I will edit this part.

Rising Star - Sivo
For the reasons that Jon stated. He can write, and seems to have stayed relatively active.

Best Character – Shang Tsung... because I haven't quite enjoying writing a character this much in a long time.

Best Story – Cinnabon Island Arc (Luffy) – This is, by far, my favorite long-running thread. Luffy’s ability to keep the story interesting despite a changing roster of PC and NPC characters is what has kept this thread engaging and fun to read.

Most Helpful – Sasuke – The guy has gone back and read almost 75% of my work to provide me with very nice feedback? Why? ‘Just because’ pretty much. He’s also done this for a few other people as well, as well being a generally nice guy.

Rising Star – Sivo – Very interesting and fun to read character paired with a writer who has a lot of room to grow. I hope you stay around for the long haul.

Best character- Whirda. As an original played to the level of Protoman by a writer who has spent years getting where he is, all the while keeping a cohesive story that flows naturally. I can safely put him here and not feel bad at all.

Best Story- Blank until I can decide.

Most Helpful- Protoman, always there to answer my stupid OOC questions and look into problems. He's really stepped up to the plate in regards to being an admin.

Rising Star- Sivo is kind of uncontested here.

‘Best’ Character –Erza
‘Best’ Story – Revelations by Magus. I just really enjoy the story and he does a good job on telling a story! 10/10 would recommend.
Most Helpful – Sasuke-He gave me an entire C&C thread about Gil without me even asking! I appreciate it dude.
Rising Star – Straizo- The dude is all by his lonesome in the Moors and he does a great job at creating a story. Love it dude keep it up.

‘Best’ Character – Retane. He is mine, I am liking how he is slowly evolving, even with flashbacks. But this is my personal opinion.
‘Best’ Story – Dunno havent had time to read any... PM me some suggestions?
Most Helpful –(Outside of staff) Whirda, actually has took the time to help me out with a few things in PM. Especially on certain subjects
Rising Star – Nada

Let whatever come my way.

No, I will not fall today...

Best’ Character – I would have to go with Jon Snow here. He's a complicated mass of emotions, feelings, and is generally very well done. I feel privileged to have the chance to RP alongside him.
‘Best’ Story – I would have to go with Daemon and the Devout. It brought forth a lot of characterization on all sides, and it was great fun to participate in. I'd be happy to partake in something similar, if everything ends out like it.
Most Helpful – Dio/Armstrong is very helpful. I doubt I'd be able to come up with half the stuff I do without him being such a stellar example. He always has the time to offer some advice, and serves as an excellent role model. Although you probably could probably print out everything he's ever typed and wallpaper your entire house with it, it's all quality work.
Rising Star – Emerald looks quite promising! Her character concept is interesting, and I'm eager to see which direction it goes in! I eagerly await her next post!
Torcher of tomes, slayer of sorcerers, taker of ears, and flayer of men. Reasonable rates.

Best Character - Proto Man

Proto is one of the few characters on the site who has undergone real character development. He stays true to his nonlethal style of fighting, isn't afraid to take a back seat or a support role when it makes sense in the story, and certainly doesn't shy from taking an ass whooping for the cause. I haven't read all 30k OM of his stuff, but I think this is a safe pick for my vote.

Best Story - Jon Snow

I'm getting more and more interested in this story. It's still in the very early stages, but I'm sympathetic to Jon's suffering and I want to see him escape. Can't wait to see him get into some real Omniverse stuff and how it builds on the character.

Most Helpful - Dark Link

Even though he's not a staff member, he works hard to answer questions in the help threads and his responses usually end up being accurate and succinct. Good, well-spoken guy and involved with the community all around.

Rising Star - Joseph Scarborough

Some of the best writing talent to hit the site in a while. I'm excited to see how it develops.

Best Character: Guu. I just adore her character. So goofy and unorthodox, quite a lot like Luffy really. I really hope to collaborate with her once I make Kirby my alternate.

Best Story: Am I allowed to put Wartortle's story here? XD If not, then I'll go with Proto's storyline from Family of Steel to Out of Light, Into Darkness to The Cure. His stories are so captivating and he effortlessly keeps the reader enthralled. I actually get excited when he makes a new post.

Most Helpful: Dark Link. I like to think of him as a pseudo-staff member. He knows the Omniverse in and out and is very helpful in answering questions. Of course, if he did become a Staffer it would distract him from his monthly roleplays, and would lead to his inevitable death via Sarah Baps. Tongue

Rising Star: Sasuke Uchiha. He's only been here a short while but one would think he's been here all along. Very promising member whom I hope sticks around.

Wow, thanks everyone! ^_^

I wasn't gonna do this because I hadn't been back but a month, but heck with it. Okay, here’s mine!:

Best’ Character – Which character has you engaged the most?

*Gilgamesh*

This one has to go to Gilgamesh for me. The guy allowed himself to be trolled off the internet and pulled into a fight with a 10 year old, classic. He stays true to his character even if it means dragging him into a fight he won’t win and he's one of the few character's I find myself chuckling consistently. Also, he has begun to flesh out the deeper side to Gilgamesh with his followers, which means we're all going to start caring for Gil. Most of this happened all within the month. Good stuff for sure.

‘Best’ Story – What story did you find most riveting/entertaining?

*Guu'd Vs Evil*

So, I feel like I am copping out a little as I basically nominated Gil for this story already, but the story in the Dataverse that lead to Guu'd Vs Evil is probably one of my favorites and will, rightfully so, go down in Omniverse history. As such, it has every right to be here and what more could we expect from two of our very own staff members? Give them all an applause!

Most Helpful – Can be a particularly helpful staffer or a member who gave you amazing feedback on a story or was simply there to help you sort out some problems.

*Proto-Man*

Okay, so I know we all feel bad for picking Proto, because we all feel like he could win every category, however, for that very reason I had to give him props. Also, to me, this is probably one of the best awards any one of us could get, which is why I gave him this award over the others. Sure, you could be a great writer, but helping one another betters the community and game as a whole. Simply put, the Omniverse wouldn't be what it is today without the help of Protoman. I know he is always there when I need him, is understanding, and just an all-around kick ass kind of guy!

Rising Star – Which new member stands at the crème of the crop? (The member must have joined within the last month and a half)

Tie between *Neal*, *Jon Snow*, and *Straizo Rockwell*

So, I hope I don't get in trouble, but it felt like an injustice to leave either of these cats out of this nomination. Neal's perspective with his character is fresh and engaging and Jon Snow is true to his character and much like Gilgamesh he'd walk into hell if he believed it to be true to his character, however Straizo is cranking out a nice little story as well. If I absolutely had to choose I would side with Strazio. I mean the guys already knocked out the 'Light in the Darkness' quest!

‘Best’ Character – Retane. I like his character and while, biased, he's one of the few I have read. I realize I don't have as much time to read and write until schools over, but every time Retane writes, I always have o just say, 'Awesome'. He writes well and even shows my character well and actually leaves me open for interpretation.

‘Best’ Story- Again, biased, but I like how Retane took my idea and forged it into our meeting and his idea of forming The Horsemen. He makes it mix well, though, he says he is forcing some stuff. I can't help but have fun writing this story. Retane makes it fun because he has a single end game, and the story can change at any moment.

Most Helpful – Sasuke. I've seen him try and get the site more active then it is when I get on. There's always something. He's eager and he seems like he is making threads trying to get people more active. And that is helpful for the site.

Rising Star – Does Sasuke qualify for this? If so. It HAS to be him. Because he's got a knack for being active and is just honestly trying.
