Vehicle sizing
#1
Of course, it is mentioned that things like motorbikes and single horses are able to go through gates, but horse drawn carriages and wind-powered boats would too large to fit.  Makes sense; for instance, maybe the sail is really tall and would break upon entering the portal, rendering the vehicle itself completely useless.  What I want to know is would a car count as a large vehicle?  I noticed that, in the Nexus information, gates are listed as being twelve feet tall and nearly as wide.  Considering that Dan's car would be 5.6 feet wide and 4.9 feet tall, would it be able to drive through the portal itself or not?

I'm unsure, as the actual portal part of the gate is left kinda ambiguous in some points.  Does it stretch nearly to the edges of the gate, sorta like an archway?  Is there more gate than portal, making it look more like a door?  When Omni states that the gate is 12' tall and almost 12' wide, does that refer to the portal or the frame around it as well?  These kinds of things make it difficult to definitively say "yes, Dan's car can drive through", especially given my track record of being a dunce.

Actually, I'm going to overrule Jade, because I believe that it's Omniphysics (not real physics) that prevents large vehicles from passing through gates. After all, the gates have always been that size and it's always been "only small vehicles."

I may be mistaken, but for now, go with the assumption that Dan will have to desummon his vehicle when traveling through gates. Android Seventeen put his go-kart in a Capsule corp capsule.

I was told by other stuff to include this gif: [Image: clH9XbK.gif]

Not like my input matters much amongst staffers lol, but to just to add to what's already been said:

a mount has to fit the period of the verse. Example, you can't have a flying car in Camelot. This means that would would probably be impossible to travel from verse-to-verse in the same mount anyways.

Not necessarily :frog:
The Nexus doesn't have any real "rules" I would say, so you could travel to it from any of the gates.

And in a similar manner, say... the Tangled Green and Camelot, which are linked, are in a similar vein of the time period, and you could fit a modern-day car into both Coruscant and the Deeps. The "Coruscant Car in Camelot" is the extreme example, of course.

@Deadpool - That rule was changed about... a year or so ago? Sometime after DA15, because I remember Samus going to Camelot and flying her ship around.

I don't even want to imagine what kind of time period Jams' flying comet would fit in thematically.

So basically, it wouldn't fit? Or at the least, if Dan were to go to the Pale Moors, it couldn't enter due to being a more modern vehicle in a time of kingdoms and mythology?

I mean...

I had Me and Okor travel to Darkshire in a pretty fancy atv car...

People in this community can sometimes be over-helpful <_<

Anyway, Dan. I'd point you to a clutter-free version of my original response, which is the correct response to the original inquiry.

So as not to spam, a vehicle like this would have to be de-summoned/re-summoned when they got near the gate, right?

Anything larger than a motorcycle or horse ain't gonna make it.

I won't mind if you attack my character or base with little to no warning!

So.. Hiri and Okor shouldn't have been able to drive their car into the Pale Moors?..
#13
They could have and did, because staff didn't take up issue with it months ago when it happened! If it did break the rules, it's pretty much been overlooked as a non-serious rulebreak.

And why are you resurrecting dead threads, man? Let them rest in peace!
