If I had two bases in two different verses — say in the Vasty Deep and the Tangled Green — I could just put recall stations in both of them and teleport back and forth that way, yes? Rather than buying teleporters

Rather than buying teleporters Yes. For 4000 OM you can do that. Difference is teleportation time. Teleporters are instant and the Recall Station takes 10 minutes to lock on.

Could a Prime change their body (as in permanently altering themselves: taking on a different appearance, adding/removing limbs etc.) by summoning/extracting Omnilium, given enough time? Would Shapeshifting or another Power/Proficiency be necessary?

Would Shapeshifting or another Power/Proficiency be necessary? I mean, we have precedent. Nealapph was a blob of black goop and came out of the Underverse looking like a 19th century gentleman? It wouldn't change your stats. It would be aesthetic and for story-line purposes only. However, I would say that if you plan to keep changing appearances that you'd need either an Alternate Form or Shapeshifting.

Would Shapeshifting or another Power/Proficiency be necessary? If you want to permanently change how you look, you can just do that. As long as it's a one-off. If you wanna do it more often, you'll need shapeshifting or alt forms. Also, adding extra limbs will require extra moves for those limbs if you wish to use them. (We won't make you pay for a fluffy tail, but if you want to get a monkey tail and use it to throw stuff, that'd cost you OM - as would getting wings that can hit people, or having an extra set of arms)

With disassemble could I turn into salt? My friend has signed up as a slug character, and they have a salt weakness (Because slug), and I was thinking about having a battle with said slug character.

My friend has signed up as a slug character, and they have a salt weakness (Because slug), and I was thinking about having a battle with said slug character. 1) Disassemble can let you turn into salt, sand, or even liquids, etc. If you want to turn into a flowing mass of acid, or something damaging that comes with other advantages not given by the main power, you'll need to make a move for it. So it you wanted to be salty and dry out or harm those touching you (and use it offensively), then it's doable with a move. 2) In the Omniverse, advantages like that don't "exist". So, water moves aren't strong against fire moves, and so on. So, turning into salt wouldn't necessarily give you an advantage. I would ask your friend about it. See here for more info: https://omniverse-rpg.com/abouttheworld....trength_of Quote:In the Omniverse, all these phenomena are balanced by Omni's power. When your character arrives, they might find that their their powers or technology work differently. If they had some kind of power that negates something else in particular (for example, if their presence destroys machinery like Harry Dresden in his home world) then it is massively dampened, only affecting things in a minor or storyline way, or otherwise completely removed. Things like this simply do not work against Primes. The reverse might also happen, and your character might lose a particular weakness they had in their own world, like One Piece's devil fruit eaters being weak to the sea. You can keep these weaknesses if you prefer. 3) I would advise you to get moves and powers to suit your character. Or just stuff you think could be cool. Rather than trying to chase after "Oh, if I get this thing I could totally beat this other guy".

Correct me if I’m wrong though - they could certainly PLAY like the character has a salt weakness etc if they both agreed on it, it just provides no OOC advantage?
07-07-2018, 09:50 AM
You are correct. The slug wouldn't actually have a weakness to salt, it would just be a fodder thing to enhance the role play.

How would one go about healing a bullet wound without healing or regen powers?

(07-07-2018, 06:48 PM)Rin Takao Wrote: How would one go about healing a bullet wound without healing or regen powers? https://omniverse-rpg.com/abouttheworld....f_Omnilium Quote:The most common use of Omnilium is summoning, but it can be used in other ways. Slow, constant application can heal even the most grievous wounds, though it is incredibly time-consuming and can take almost an entire day of rest to restore lost limbs, for example. In the case of Primes, this effect is passive and activated simply by holding any amount of omnilium, but they can produce the same effect on a secondary by remaining still and focusing, exactly like summoning. If your character doesn't have hours and you want a quick fix in the middle of combat without regen, I guess you could try and fish out the bullet (if it's inside you), and maybe cauterise it or something to prevent blood loss - depending on what you have at your disposal (obviously, if you have nothing hot available, you can't cauterise anything). Or try and tear off some clothing and cover the wound and put pressure on it. The general stuff you see in movies (and I'm sure there's plenty of medical problems with what I said because I know little about bullet wounds outside of the obvious). But none of that would "heal" anything. Alternatively, you could get healing items, if you're about to do a fight and you think it might grant you an edge. For personal storylines and whatnot (i.e. your own adventure, stuff that isn't "competitive"), you can just fudge healing items into your story (like getting given a fancy healing leaf from a random forest village for you to use, or finding some herbs, or just going to a hospital, whatever fits both your character and the setting). But in an actual fight with another player character (or major NPC you're not writing yourself), you would need to have spent OM beforehand to buy and summon something for you to use. Such as: https://omniverse-rpg.com/items.php#Consumables Quote:Medi-Gel – 50 OM

Piggybacking off that question. If your prime is not aware that OM can be used to regenerate limbs over time do they still grow back naturally? I guess what I'm asking is it a passive effect at that level or does the prime have to actively focus on regenerating their lost limb?

The rules say: "In the case of Primes, this effect is passive and activated simply by holding any amount of omnilium". So, you can have it happen automatically (and I'd say it's totally fine for an arm to slowly regrow over a day or so even if you're not holding a random OM orb or however you roleplay omnilium - it has a variety of appearances and your weapons and other summoned objects are literally made of it). If, for IC reasons, you wish for it not to regrow, then you can choose to do that instead. In other words, you can basically choose. But it does typically work passively.

IC, either "by accident" or following some rumours or finding some random stick that leads to some other place. OOC, but talking with the mod team and coming up something with them. That's less my department, so you might want to shoot Blink, Sage, or Alex a PM about your ideas if you want something. Or make a thread in the help desk if you're not fussed about it being "super sekrit". Typically, this will be for a storyline you're running with some others, but I guess something solo could be possible. Regardless, it won't be allowed as a personal advantage like a place to hide your base or camp out to avoid someone coming after a bounty or anything like that. Nebula Space (from Dark Data) and the Dante Verse (from DA) are examples of pocket verses. But stuff on smaller scales is still possible. Again, you would need to ask a "lore" staffer about it. So, if you've got ideas for something, throw them my way and I'll relay it over, or take it straight to Blink/Sage/Alex.

They're usually "special things". It's often to justify storylines that follow different rules regarding the powers and moves and such (like how some fights in DA don't let you use flight and super jumping, for example). I mean, if you wanna get stuck in some whacky pocket verse for a bit for funsies, something could maybe be arranged? It's not really my place to say.
There's not like a list of "secret verses" hidden out there or anything, though. Just the space verse. :frog: |
