The Last Avenger and the World of Omni: Homecoming

[Kuzuru]

“Lame,” Kuzuru muttered as he nudged the Baron’s corpse with his foot. The demon glanced over at the armless wonder and raised an eyebrow. The boy was clearly distraught. Kuzuru place a hand on Sasuke’s shoulder and sighed.

“Yeah, I know how you feel,” Kuzuru said, “shame our friend here turned out to be so disappointing.”

“It's not that,” Sasuke answered.

“Hmmm? What then?”

Sasuke bucked Kuzuru’s hand off and turned for the door, “nothing, let’s get going.”

“Okie dokie Mr. Tall Dark and Brooding,” Kuzuru chuckled.

Some time after their excursion Kuzuru and Sasuke found themselves nestled within the walls of Nippur. The demon was offered a place to stay until he recovered and Sasuke had his own business with the king. Rest and relaxation was all that was on the demon’s mind. The knots on top of his skull throbbed incessantly and he spent several days listing in and out of a vicious fever dream. However, as time is wont to do, his wounds healed and his psyche recovered. Renji’s resurgence was troubling, but it was nothing more than an unpleasant hiccup. It was during one of these days that Kuzuru’s phone buzzed. He say up from his bed and checked the device. His eyes went wide and a grin cracked across his lips. Immediately he dialed Sasuke’s number.

“Hello?” the shinobi answered.

“Hey buddy.”

“Kuzuru? How’d you get my number?”

Kuzuru chuckled and said, “I have my ways, at any rate I’ve been thinking about your sword, Kusuragi.”

“Kusanagi,” Sasuke corrected.

“Yeah, that one,” Kuzuru said, “well Dante’s Abyss is starting real real soon right?”

“What about it?”

“Well if you had some artefact of untold power you’d want to go give a whirl, right? And where better than the tournament of tournaments to make a debut?”

“You’re suggesting we participate in Dante’s Abyss.

Kuzuru answered, “damn straight, best case scenario we find your sword, worst case scenario we have a bit of fun, besides you’ve already got one win under your belt, might as well make it two right?”

There was a pause before Sasuke answered, “I’ll think about it.”

“Well don’t think too long, sign-ups end here in a few hours,” Kuzuru said, stood up, and headed for the door, “I’m on my way there now, and I’d hate for you to miss my championship speech.”
