Quick and Easy Questions (please read the OP)
If the Chaos Emerald can be used for 1000 OM to avoid the buy back costs of a reset, could it also be used for 1000 OM to avoid the character switch costs?

There's really nothing you can do to limit the costs otherwise and for someone who has never switched, and doesn't plan on doing a lot of switching, there should be a away to limit the costs. No?

Using a Chaos Emerald is obviously not the same as switching characters.

The cost for switching is the same in all cases unless the person has never once posted on the character they intend to switch. No exceptions.

Is it possible or are we open to the idea of exploring a different solution? Perhaps with donations? Instead of shortening switch times, maybe we could select to shorten the switch penalty?

If not its cool. There is also multiple characters as a solution. Just curious really.

No. You can't use the emerald or anything else to avoid switch costs. Nor is there any other way right now.

I guess the closest thing you could do with the emerald would be your character taking on a personality they use to have in the past and essentially becoming someone else, or having their attitude and powers change quite a bit, but there has to be something tying your character to whatever they're like after they use the Emerald. An example would be my character Ebonywood Hellscythe becoming Catherine Windsdale - her "past persona". Or Kuzuru removing all aspects of Renji. Or Kuzuru permanently becoming Renji instead.

There is currently no way to remove switching costs, and, personally, they should always exist. Otherwise we'll eventually end up with lots of high level fountain freshies. Which is dumb. But, if you have a suggestion in mind that you're sure is reasonable, try the "Rules Feedback" thread - but I wouldn't expect that idea to pass. Why should something your current character does impact your future one? We want people to find characters people enjoy, so switching can be needed at time. But we also want people to stick with them. So the OM loss aspect of switching will ever be bypassed, unless you never wrote as the character before switching.

Think of switching like this:

You are starting again as a new character. The OM from your past character is a bonus. Donating to get a better 'bonus' is something that's never going to happen, because then you'd essentially be paying real money to get OM, and I'm almost certain Omni doesn't want to introduce anything like that.
I really wasn't following until you mentioned the freemium aspect of what I was asking. Touche, ya got me. That makes total sense. *Scraps Idea*

 Thanks! ^_^

As Dark Data is finishing up and forces will be releasing soon I hope I can ask this question.

If you own a communicator and recall station can forces or force primes use it to recall to a base? Can they do it if you recall with them?

Questions about forces won't officially be answered until later. (I assume Omni plans to make a proper Q and A thread)

I would assume the answer to that is 'yes'. But a force prime would need their own communicator just like any other prime (which you would have to buy them), and would need to have been to the recall station before. The general forces can probably be assumed to have a communicator (like normal secondaries you summon), so as long as they've been to the base before and calibrated with the station, you'd be good.

To clarify, this is an educated guess based on how NPC secondaries and NPC primes work. I know nothing more than anyone else. (Or, at least, anyone who's read the provisional forces page in the rules as well as the rest of it)
If I wanted to create a character who uses bending like from Avatar the last air bender. Would I need telekensis or just all of the proficiencies that telekensis requires?

This might help you. From my understanding, it depends on how proficient you want your ability to be. The more complex its use, the more control you have over ranged objects/people the more likely you'll need Telekinesis, but smaller scaled, less significant things can be achieved with the right move and proficiency combo.

Remember that Telekinesis in and of itself requires: Ranged Proficiency, Remote Control Proficiency, Ranged Materialize Proficiency. So, if you have these, I believe novice level moves would be fine. Figure out how in depth you want the power to be (consider the complexity and control) and decide from their if fashioning novice moves will be enough for you. Otherwise, buy the power.

I believe, may staff rest my post...  xD

In the description for quests, it says that if multiple PCs want to participate in a quest, then the word count limit is raised, and the group may participate in the quest together, and split the rewards.

I want to do a quest, and I want to visit a bunch of PCs while I do it. I don't want to raise the word requirement OR split the rewards; I want to count only MY words towards the word requirement, and keep the reward myself.

Specifically, I'm referring to the Astral Verse Void Quest, which requires the quester to enter multiple dreams. I wanted to enter some PC dreams while I do it, some friendly, some hostile.

Is this ok? Can I have other PCs in my quest without raising the word requirement, if they aren't sharing the reward and aren't having their words counted towards the word requirement?

Sure. You can have other people write in your quest thread without increasing the word count. But they won't get the quest "reward", so won't get to go to the Void or gain influence with a faction, etc. They are still eligible for participation and exceptional bonuses though, just like any other thread.

me and Jak's secondary are travelling together. We're going from the deeps to the dunes, passing through the Nexus. Nothing will happen on the Nexus part of the trip, but should we post there anyways? Or is it enough to just mention it at the end and beginning of the deeps and dunes threads?

You don't need to post in the Nexus if you don't want to. But you need to mention you travelled through it - you can't just write yourself appearing anywhere willy-nilly, capiche?
So aparently the consumable item system works differently now, but I cannot find any info on it in the items part of the rules, could someone link me to the topic with this information? Also as someone who bought a second item slot to hold a banishment circle and power pill for NB vs Law, can I get that refunded?

What? Who said this?

It might be in the Updates thread if anywhere, but I don't know what you're referring to.

Right and I believe he is asking for a refund for the slot upgrade he paid for 1000 OM.
