When There is No More Room in Hell
#1
Gilgamesh’s seething rage momentarily dissipated as he was suddenly dropped. His heart lurched at the sudden change, though his momentum didn’t carry long. The dark hellscape had quickly changed to a land of grey and black with no defining features. His body slowly floated upwards before softly bumping into a formless ceiling. The chill of this Void was enough for his heavy breathing to emit steam.

Two GOD DAMN years!” He slammed his fist into the ceiling, letting him bounce up and down like a buoy. How could this much time have slipped by his fingers? The Golden King brought his hand up to rub the bridge of his nose. Oh how he will enjoy murdering the ‘Proto-Mouse’ over and over again. Gil vowed that their fate will be worse than any suffering he had endured here. Furrowing his brow he gently pushed off the ceiling, letting him settle nicely in the middle of this empty space. Seeing as he couldn’t walk, Gilgamesh began to swim aimlessly, looking for any sign of...well anything.

His boiling rage quite literally warmed him as he traveled through the expanse. A shudder went down his spine as he thought of his new master, Diablo. The demon’s power here was more impressive than he could ever hope to imagine, even in his prime. How effortlessly the demon was able to obliterate Gilgamesh and stitch him back together, it seemed like some sort of excellent illusion magic. However, Gilgamesh knew that it wasn’t even an ounce Diablo’s real power. His hand dropped to his left breast, still tender from his new mark. And now he had a fraction of it as well. The thought of being a lesser to a hellspawn was enough to make him scream out in rage, but trading it for the ability to demolish his enemies with ease made it tolerable.

Continuing to swim into the expanse, Gilgamesh continued in a straight line, or what he thought was a straight line. With time, even up and down became relative and indistinguishable. Over time his undying rage had died down a bit and left over a more bitter residue. Out of the corner of his eye, he was able to catch a black blob moving quite quickly. He turned his head to see a giant eyeball with wings and tentacle like appendages. The creature turned to make eye contact with Gilgamesh, it’s giant eyeball lethargically blinking. The small monster slowly flew towards Gilgamesh, but passed him entirely. Gil’s eyes followed the monster, the small creature’s attention was not fixed upon the intruder but the ceiling and walls. It paused for a moment, inspecting the seemingly featureless environment before heading off.

The Golden King swam over to inspect the same wall. What in the world was this creature looking at? This place has no landmarks. For the first time he noticed small white lines that seemed to diverge and point into every direction. Realizing what the creature was doing, Gil looked around to find where the little bastard had gone. He could have sworn the creature was right behind him. He took a pause and turned back to see the creature flying to his left. He had a puzzled look on his face and blinked in disbelief at how that could of worked. Gil shook his head for a minute before suspending disbelief and tried to follow the creature off into the distance.

Struggling to catch up, Gilgamesh was completely out of breath as he trailed the monster. Luckily, the creature had just stopped to inspect the leyline, allowing for him to slowly catch up to it. Using the wall as a makeshift ladder, he slowly pressed his hands against the wall to push himself to the floor. He let out a sigh of relief and wiped a bead of sweat the was beginning to collect on his brow. The void did not make it easy to travel. Seeing as the little creature was beginning to fly off into the distance, Gilgamesh continued to trail the creature.

Bored out of his mind and not interested enough to inspect the leyline, Gilgamesh began to converse with the creature. “You shall now be known as the fearsome Baal.” Gil cracked a smile at his own joke. “Have you always lived your life in this limbo, creature?" Baal made no effort in communicating with the King, not even giving him the pleasure of acknowledging his presence.

Tch. If you were anything more than an insect I would destroy you for your uncivil behavior”. Baal responded by turning a corner, however as Gilgamesh continued to follow him, the little monster was gone. Panicked and completely lost, Gil looked around desperate to find his guide. Baal, somehow, was behind him turning back towards the direction they just came from.

We are losing time you insufferable beast! You must take me to the Omniverse, Now!” Gil’s voice was clear in that he was losing his patience, but the more time he took to look at it, the void didn't seem familiar. He opened his mouth to speak, but he had nothing to say. He let out a defeated sigh, unaware of where the hell he was going and just slowly followed Baal.

Not much time had passed, but the intricacies of the Void was more than enough to make him sick of it. Frustrated and silent, the King of Heroes followed Baal till he saw a stone arch with a glistening blue portal. His heart leapt for joy as he thought he would never be so happy to find his way back into the Omniverse. It has been so long since he felt the light of the Dunes and unbearable heat, yet that’s all he wanted to feel on his skin right now. He turned his head to see Baal flying away and he gave him a soft wave.

See ya Space Cowboy.”
