Mimic Resistance Move
#1
A lot of talk about wanting folks to not Mimic ya stuff in the Chatbox. Some folks want a straight "Anti-Mimic" ability, some folks think it wouldn't work cuz people would think it'd be a required thingy. Well, I'll show ya how to do it, within the rules; offering both an Anti-Mimic Super Move and a Mimic Resistance Move.

First things first, whatcha gonna need for this? Well, you'll need Debuff Proficiency, for starters. You'll also need Insight (if you want to quash Mimic before they can Mimic you), Telepathy (to muddle the memory of your Move from the mind of the Mimicker), and Suppression (to keep Insight Mimickers from snagging your Moves from your mind). Without further ado, let's build a Move and Super Move.

Move: There is No Substitute for the Original; Debuff, Insight, Telepathy, Suppression (300 OM)

(Insert Name Here) is a super special person whom no one can hope to duplicate. By muddling an opponent's mind and hiding their own abilities, (Insert Name Here) makes it much harder for a Mimicker to copy their abilities. The difference in Tec between (INH) and the Mimicker is the additional number of seconds required for the Mimicker to Mimic any of (INH)'s abilities, unless the Mimicker has a higher Tec, in which case they are unaffected. This difference also affects how much less skilled the Mimicker is at using the ability than is the norm for Mimic, again not changing if the Mimicker has a higher Tec, and increasing in difficulty to use as a positive gap increases.

Tier 1 Super Move: No, For Real... THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE! (600 OM)

(Insert Name Here) is a super special person whom no one can hope to duplicate. By muddling an opponent's mind and hiding their own abilities, (Insert Name Here) makes it impossible for a Mimicker to copy their abilities for 1 round. This can be maintained from round to round by continuing to spend SP.

I'd say you're right on the money, in my opinion. Would probably need fine-tuning, but I have no faults with your logic. Nice job.

Nice one, Jeff.

Personally, I don't have a problem with mimickers, so it's not a move I'd buy, but this seems like it'd be a good way for anyone who cares to deal with them.

As a mimicker, i quite like this one. Might have something similar for those would-be mirror matches. My knowledge is mine dammit!

Edit: Perhaps rather than just stop it completely, perhaps things can be fed to the Mimicker that can be more detrimental than helpful. Like a move that does more harm to the body than anything else.

I think the super move version would be fine but not the passive non-super version, specifically because it seems to be written as a passive ability and not an actual active move.
Curious about me and the characters I play? See the 'Staff' page! See also the rosters for my characters Samus Aran or Enel if you'd like to see examples of well-formatted rosters. Hope you enjoy the Omniverse!

It was meant to be an Activation Move, yeah. I kinda just threw together the description, but in my preamble explanation I mentioned you'd need Insight to know that your opponent has Mimic, thus implying an Activation.

Edit: maybe it should require Foresight too, to get a precog on an imminent Mimic and activate beforehand.
