Alright, so anyone here like Prototype 2? Me too! Gosh these fight mechanics are so smooth and... HEY! Mercer's back! C'mere buddy, lets... wait... what? Evil? NO! Not evil! Why!
*Reads into the lore.*
That's... that's ... so fucking lame... One girl? It took one girl to sway your vote? Common dude, I know heartbreak hurts but jeeze...
SO... I want to do a fanfiction to show how I think it should have gone! I think I'll do it in the Astral Verse and have Mercer slowly remember it. Time between taking a damn nuke to the brain and his arrival in the Omniverse having sort of "Reset the ol' ticker" much like the precurser to Prototype (the original) did.
Don't get me wrong, Mercer is not going to be some Supercancer (superman but with cancer powers,) he'll still be somewhat the anti-hero he was for Prototype (where he saved Manhattan then left it to heal after Elizabeth Green (the bitch that actively spread the virus, while Mercer more killed infected and ate them.)
This time though, I'm thinking about painting him as the Anti-Villain who seeks to bring Humans up to the next stage, with the goal of turning everyone into "Evolved," perhaps sans the weaponry... or maybe very moderate versions...
I plan for him to go back to studying the original Blacklight, reconnect to the old Alex Mercer's work and figure out what made him, what this retrovirus' true potential was and, by extension, what he could do to improve the new wave of dominant species on the planet.
He will use morally gray means to infect people "for their benefit." One such person uncovers Mercer's intent and being part of the original Manhattan massacre blames him for all the carnage and seeks to end him. Sound familiar? This is how it could have been... Instead of trying to end the world, Mercer HAS THE POWER to make it better...
What's even more delicious is Mercer gives up consuming humans and has even learned to seperate minds and "regurgitate" them by sacrificing biomass. So he's effectively given up his own power, while this Anti-Hero James Heller is consuming and growing more powerful...
It shifts balance from Heller vs Mercer, Good vs. Evil, to a balance of perspective. Mercer is a good guy doing things in a shady way - and Heller is also a good guy doing things in a shady way. Heller sees Mercer as trying to end the current way of life, and Mercer sees Heller as, essentially, himself not too long ago...
Can you TASTE This juicy plot or what? Am I just too excited about the Anti-Hero Vs. Anti-Villain, or does this actually sound like how P2 should have been? I'd love to hear your thoughts or maybe get a few ideas!
