Character history:
Gaster comes from a family of font skeletons that once resided on the surface in harmony with Humans years before the War.
As a child, he was raised by his father, Semi, and his mother Antiqua; while a calm and quiet boy, he did get himself into trouble because of his curiosity, but was for the most part, a good apple. He was highly intelligent for his age, a step above his peers, but was often frail and bullied by Humans and by rare cases, monsters. Despite of which, he was a perservent individual and as the young skeleton grew into finding the one thing that inspired him: science. Of course, it took years to develop on this new pursuit, albeit picking up on some side-hobbies here and there, as well taking some new perspectives, however there had been some cases where Humans were starting to grow hostile at their monster breathen; a warning sign for a conflict that was about to happen.
A year later, in his youth, the remains of his family, among the rest of the monsters who survived the village conflict, migrated and went into the underground of Mount Ebott to hide. This was only a precursor to events sometime the future and while he lost his mother, he kept close to Semi whom took care of things. Even so, he continued with his pursuits and tried to assist his father all he could, knowing the hard situation, he did what he could to help much like doing chores, running errands, the usual. Upon until now, he was mostly homeschooled for most of his years but when a school system was eventually established, he was sent for attendance.
While there, he met some of the familiar monsters and some were new, however, the only other skeleton was Arial, another survivor of the conflict and with some unexpected events in the mix, his future love interest.
The years passed and the new couple had their first son, Sans and then their second, Papyrus, who Semi, despite his age, got to see for himself before he fell down due to old age. Semi's eventual passing was hard on Gaster for sometime but his wife and kids supported him especially in terms of his scientific pursuits while Arial cared for the children. However, as it seemed to be, he was being more or so a workaholic which worried his wife as he spent less time with his sons in the following weeks. At this time, the Underground was getting a bit more populated but not by much before Gaster became the Royal Scientist.
Near the coming time, the relationship would become strained between the parents and Sans, the eldest, noticed it with occasional arguments at times.
Eventually so, the King would notice the brilliance of Gaster's works in the many fields he worked in within the scientific community and be the one that brought his family in for visitations from time to time for tea. For sometime, the Gaster family were friends with the Dreemurrs around their youth and having the need to improve things in the Underground for the growing population, the King had requested Gaster's assistance. Upon this, Gaster was eventually made into the Royal Scientist and began work immediately.
Peace was the normalcy for now until several years later, a sole Human fell down and everything changed for better or for worse.
As more residents of the Underground came, changes came along with it especially with the construction of the CORE in the reaching branch of Hotland. In its early days, the Underground was barren and lacked any scientific advancements and now with it, the monsters were beginning to notice. However, despite his absence from the family, Gaster did take the time to drop by every now and then, though once the CORE was fully completed, he came back for some time but it would be only so long.
One day, the Underground was struck with tragedy when the Dreemurrs had lost two of their children and the said incident had agitated the Humans from the surface on a bloody rampage. Arial, who was in the Royal Guard, was summoned while Gaster remained to watch the children for awhile and once returned, Gaster left to see the King who declared war on the Humans. Preparations were made and the monsters marched off to war with the King's lead and the ending result was a massacre among the monsters. Among one of the victims was Arial, who had been killed by a Human, leaving Sans and Papyrus motherless before the mass exodus of surviving, orphaned and wounded monsters sealed under the creation of the Barrier by the seven Human mages.
In the aftermath of the war, Gaster didn't see his children again until the King brought them along in as a result of Sans partaking a sentry duty in his late childhood. While noted for his knack in the scientific fields, he was eventually promoted as something of an apprentice and while Gaster worked behind the scenes, Sans was out front with his duties, both on field and in the lab, however the War and Arial's death has impacted his views on Humans, now full of disdain and sadness.
The next big project Gaster worked with was with Alphys on terms of the DT Extractor among other things in efforts for the King's assignment to find an alternate way to shatter the Barrier to free monsterkind from the Underground as well as other important things. This was during the time that the other Human Souls would fall down and set off a chain of events leading all the way to Sans' departure from the team and the eventual incident at the CORE that sent Gaster into the Void, shattering fragments of him across time-space.
As it felt like an eternity, he was trapped there and was slowly driven to madness on escape.
The only one that would remember the incident was Sans and with Gaster unable to get out, he was slowly transformed into something else from once was a skeleton, changed into a format of an mysterious entity made of shadow and a now glitched soul. In his time trapped, he grew more distant in his feelings if not patient and as part of the Void, he had the ability to see all timelines and serve as some sort of observer, watching everything that is anything while the rest of the monsters went of with their lives, including his sons.
Eventually, the fateful day that the eighth Human fell down and messed around the timelines, either it's a Pacifist, Neutral or Genocide run, he knows them all but as much as he deeply misses his sons and his beloved wife, he can't go back, if ever; however as if fate has unexpected plan, an abnormality came as a flash of a mysterious white light engulfed the Void and it wouldn't be long before he would reawaken in freedom, given to be another chance.

Gasterblasters (Ranged Materialized, Ranged) 300 OM: His own trademark weapon to which he can summon up to two massive goat skulls in field. The blasters will shoot out white beams of light at his targets. In fact, Gaster can summon them from anywhere as far as thirty-five feet from him. Summoning takes ~3 seconds before use and ~2 seconds to shoot. Those who come across this attack will notice that his eyes will glow a purple aura.
Siphon (N/A) 0 OM: Due to his time in the Void, it has left Gaster deprived and so to maintain more stability, he needs the substance known as Omnilium to grow stronger. Of course, that would mean using his own shadow-like body to pierce defeated opponents and steal their energy.
