The King and His Men
#1
The King had reached the end of his path and took note of the giant portal that bestowed before him. The giant gate had a blue film which seemed capable of falling out and flooding the Nexus with its blue surface. Gilgamesh reached his hand out to touch the blue-liquid and he was instantly transported to a place devoid of the watery substance that was just in reach. The white land instantly faded into the still bright sands of the desert decorated occasionally by the patches of trees and grassland. In the distance Gilgamesh could see a patch of houses and civilization that was just visible beyond the waves of heat rising above the grass.

My Kingdom will reign once again.

Gilgamesh started his path onto the town, with his golden boots kicking up sand. As he got closer to the village he could see the influx of trees and grass increasing until he was surrounded by the town, the buildings looking dated and the ground looks fresh. Gilgamesh looked disgustingly at the people around him, the dirty things. They walked by not even acknowledging his presence, he needed to remind them that he was their King!

His face was seething with disgust, I will teach these mongrels who their King is! He was about to open up his Gates of Babylon until a squad of troops walked past him, armed and alert. He gritted his teeth and immediately closed the golden portal.

Damn, I need to remind my citizens to aid me back to power. He turned away and began walking in the streets away from the troops.

"Hey there mister. Did you get lost? Might be unlucky if someone to rob ya and that fancy gold suit of yours." A voice with an obvious southern accent broke the silence. His attempt to get Gilgamesh's attention yielded no response which seemed to frustrate the man.

"Idgit. You turn to me when I'm talking to you boy." The voice called out louder this time.

Gilgamesh turned around slowly and his expression was a mixture between sullen and livid. The man he saw was no other than a commoner around these parts. He had a black cowboy hat on and a white dress shirt. The man's hand was placed upon the revolver that hung comfortably upon his waist.

"You rabid dog! You will suffer for your imprudence! Is that the way a dog like you should speak to their King!"

The man smirked and wiped his lip with his free hand. "I have no King boy! Now how about you give me that Golden suit before I put a bunch of holes…" Blood spurted from his lip and and choked. His white shirt was beginning to flood with his red-life substance. A spear with a golden shaft, ornate with rubies and emeralds was protruding from his chest and fell with the man to the ground. His blood staining the ground he was just standing on. The spear disintegrated into the sky away from the man and the gold portal that had just been opened.

"I am sad that your tainted blood had to desecrate my treasures." The King looked saddened and he quickly closed the Gate. The people around him, looked in awe of Gilgamesh. He laughed and looked at the crowd of people.

"I will not tolerate anyone who dares defile I, King Gilgamesh, my kingdom, or my subjects. For all of those who wish to serve me, I will provide protection from the filth that walk these streets!' The crowd just stood there, out of either disbelief or fear of Gilgamesh. The King frowned and his mood darkened.

"That is the wrong choice…But you all shall learn the pleasures of serving me. But if you at first wish to experience the punishments of pain, you may realize the right answer and come to me after."

He walked off away from the crowd and the bloodied corpse that had taught the town the lesson of disrespecting Gilgamesh.

Gilgamesh had walked away, his face holding a grimace against the people that had failed to remember his reign as King. The town was still staring at the Golden, Armored warrior as his Golden Armor seemed to dissipate into Golden dust. His clothes was now wearing a white v-neck and black pants, with his signature golden necklace hanging around his neck. Whispers were all around him and flooded the streets he passed by. As he continued down the street, the sky turned a bright orange and he had just passed by a local inn. He turned too see the sun begin it's descent and the moon's turn to rise.

Then I shall bless this inexcusable Inn with my presence.

He proceeded to walk to the door, with the large sign hanging stating, "Drinks And Lodge." He flung two wooden doors to see a girl in her twenties standing there, behind the counter of the Motel. She had orange hair and her eyes were a lush green. She was standing there twirling her hair, obviously bored of this small town life-style. Gilgamesh walked over to her and she looked up, apparently startled by the King's grand appearance, even in casual clothes.

"Ca-Can I help you?" she stuttered, nervously.

"I would like your finest room with bedsheets made of satin!" The King looked at his nails, making his appearance much more pompous than usual.

"We have cotton bedsheets…" Her nervousness completely gone and instead a tone of annoyance flooded her voice.

"I suppose that will have to do." The King had let out a sigh and the girl who had grown tired of him rolled her eyes. Which in turn received a hostile glare.

"Here are your keys to room 8. Don't make a mess your highness. You will pay in the morning."

Gilgamesh snatched the keys from the unappreciative girl. She should be lucky that the King had the time of day to speak to her. He walked off head in the air, leaving her to her daily adventures of split ends.

To his left he saw a room full of broken stools, loud yelling and drunken men, and to his right was a staircase that lead up to the higher level with all the bedrooms. A man fell out of the room to the left, with rosy cheeks and a stagger in his step.

Mongrels…

"Excus' me sir. Do yo' hav any money to buy me another beer." The man had a slur to his speech and Gilgamesh could tell he had one too many drinks. The man reached up and grabbed onto his shirt.

"HOW DARE YOU BRING ME DOWN TO YOUR LEVEL! I BELONG AMONG THE HEAVENS!"

Gilgamesh backhanded the drunken man and knocked him unconscious, which wasn't hard to do. The King was furious and it almost seemed that steam would erupt from his ears. He stormed off into the room upstairs and opened his room. Every step up the stairs released and audible creak and Gilgamesh feared that the next step would crash into the ground.

He eventually reached his room with the number eight inscribed in the door, crude and done by a knife. Gilgamesh opened the door and he feared that the hinges would fall off. The first thing that hit him was the stench, the unspeakable stench of manure that filled the room. The bed looked less comfortable than the floor and the mirror had cobwebs on it.

Gilgamesh was speechless…he had no idea what to say for the atrocities that the woman had committed against him. He grumbled and sat on the bed, which was no comparison to the fine materials that Gilgamesh had enjoyed in his life as a king. He sighed and laid against the wooden frame, unsuccessfully made comfier by the paper thin sheets. He closed his eyes and the tainted world had disappeared for a second.

Darkness appeared everywhere before Gilgamesh. He was alone in the darkness and he sees figure from his past. King Arthur had appeared and walked over to Gilgamesh. He pushed the hair back from her face and she took hold of his hand. "Take back your Kingdom." The world shrunk on Gilgamesh until…

Gilgamesh had awoken from his slumber by the sounds of a roaring engine and screams from the streets. The cries from the street pierced his ears and had a rude awakening from his dream. The reminder of the stench and filth he was in brought a grimace to his face and as well as a sour mood.

He walked down the stairs and was greeted at the front desk with silence, the bar was empty and the obnoxious, red-haired lady was no longer there. He left a gold bar there, being feeling quite generous despite his foul mood.

He exited the bar into the deserted streets to see a handful of men on makeshift choppers that looked as if they were made of of parts from the local dump. The men were scruffy and had yellow that stained their teeth.

"We're the Paul Gone Gang! Now surrender and give us your valuables and no one gets hurt!" The leader of the gang had shouted. Gilgamesh turned his head to see many of the town windows shut their windows and the loud thud of doors. The leader of the gang let out an uproarious laughter and got off of his junkyard chopper.

A squad of white troops that Gilgamesh had seen the previous day had come out of an alley and positioned themselves against a pile of barrels. Their guns pointed at the gang, eliciting a quickdraw response from the members.

"Surrender Paul Gone! Your finished!" exclaimed a voice from the identical troops.

"You think I'm going to give in to a bunch of Stormtroopers? In your dreams! Get em' boys!"

Bullets and beams of energy flew everywhere. However, one by one the "Stormtroopers" began to crumble underneath the massive force of bandits, while inflicting much less casualties. The Gang had won the exchange and the Stormtrooper captain was all that was left.

"Mission Failed, I require reinforcements!"

The Gang leader walked up to the Stormtrooper and kicked the gun out of his hand as the captain was about to fire. He put the revolver up to the Captains head and pulled the trigger, against the stormtroopers pleas for mercy.

"Now where were we? You were about to give me your valuables, isn't that right?"

Gilgamesh, uninterested began to walk in the other direction of the bandits, not caring what they did with the town.

"Hey you! Hand over your valuables before I put a bullet in your brain like I did these Stormtroopers!"

A golden portal opened up quickly and shot a few weapons at the choppers that the Gang had arrived on, followed by a fiery explosion that flew some of the members of the gang.

"I met a man who refused my right to be King. He is dead. Don't make the same mistake."

The Paul Gone looked astonished at the havoc that the King had delivered within seconds of his arrival. He looked back at his members in panic.

"Don't just stand there! Shoot him!" He cried desperately before he turned to see Gilgamesh just drawing out his massive scythe. He didn't even have a moment to blink before the scythe had traveled directly into his neck, spurting out blood everywhere.

"For those who wish to live. Run. You aren't worth my time."

The lackies of the deceased Paul Gone were running in their tracks, disappointed that their wheels were gone. Gilgamesh let his weapons flow back into his vault and he closed the portal. The citizens of Carrefore had opened their windows for a brief peak at the explosions and screams of pain that were occurring outside, just to see Gilgamesh and the bodies of the deceased Stormtroopers and Gang Members.

"For those who still question my Kingship. You shall learn!" Gilgamesh announced to the town. He turned away and strode off, kicking up dust.

Gilgamesh strode away from the scene of Chaos and destruction, leaving the bodies of the stormtroopers and the wreckage of the choppers that he had swiftly destroyed. The swift devastation he had brought had the town onlooking in silence and completely in awe of his power.

He grinned, Maybe this won't be so bad. It might even be a little fun. His crimson red eyes darkened with a deviant gleam. He let out a maniacal laugh as the citizens of the town stared at him, ongoing into the streets.

He heard a massive amount of footprints behind him. The footsteps had stopped suddenly. "We have seven dead perpetrators and Squad One has been completely eliminated…We see a suspect with Blonde Hair and wearing ornate materials. Will engage in pursuit."

Gilgamesh heard the troopers and turned around, his Golden Armor materializing back to life. Meeting face to face with the White Troopers that had been so easily wiped out.

"Halt, In the name of the Empire you are under arrest for the suspicion of murdering Empire Authorities!"

"You have the Gall to arrest a King!" His eyes grew mad and he began to open the Golden Gates.

"Stop whatever you are doing and put your hands over your head, or we will FIRE!"

There was movement behind the soldiers and Gilgamesh had dismissed it as one of the civilians. Until a tendril of sand shot through one of the Stormtroopers. The squad had looked surprised at the Soldier, as if they couldn't comprehend what had just happened. The slithering mass of sand had withdrawn leaving the Trooper with a massive hole in his chest.

A Mage in red robes, covering his faces, was standing at the edge of town. His voice boomed and reversed throughout the road, "In order to enact revenge for the loss of Paul Gone, I shall destroy you. Golden Warrior."

The Troopers had trouble deciding on which target to focus, the Golden King or the Sand Mage that had just killed one of their own in front of them. The eventually decided the Sand Mage was a priority over Gilgamesh, which was the wrong choice.

"I am not a Golden Warrior… I am the King of Heroes!"

The mage laughed,"King? The King of Heroes? You are no KING!" The Mage laughed uncontrollably and more sand tendrils began to rise out of the ground. They wavered around as if they were part of some larger creature and moved almost as if they had a mind of their own.

"You filthy beast have no right to challenge my Kingship! You have brought your own doom upon you!" His eyes widened and his eyebrows furrowed with hate. This mongrel would learn his lesson the hard way. The Golden Gate appeared above him and launched a series of weapons towards the cloaked mage. The out of the sand a wall rose from beneath and all the weapons sunk themselves deep into the wall.

"I see how this will be…I'm sad that I have to waste my time with you. The King grabbed two of his swords out of the Gate and started walking towards the mage. The tendrils flung out towards Gilgamesh but he easily sidestepped the flying sand. The Stormtroopers were firing at the tendrils but it was futile. Another tendril shot out, aimed directly at Gilgamesh's chest but he was able to split the incoming wave of sand with his sword. He continued to walk down his path, easily deflecting every sand tendril in his path.

The sand mage looked startled, he sent more tendrils to stop the King on his slow path, to no avail. Out of no where a red beam of energy hit the mage in the shoulder, sending him flying back. The tendrils dissipated into the ground and this gave Gilgamesh time to catch up with his opponent.

The Mage got up clutching his solder, "Damn you…"he murmured. The tendrils reformed and was aimed directly at the squad of stormtroopers. The Tendril wrecked havoc, flying and impaling all of the Troops. The Mage was laughing maniacally until he saw that Gilgamesh was almost upon him.

"Shit shit shit…" he cursed underneath his breath. He called the tendril back but it was too late. Gilgamesh kicked him to the floor and put the sword to his throat.

"You disgusting dog have the blessing of being put down by your King!" Gilgamesh looked irritated and uninterested. He brought up his sword and was about to slice the Mages throat but something was holding his hand back. Sand from the ground was holding his hand back and restraining him. The mage chuckled and the sand beneath him began to carry him away.

"Prepare to die, KING!" The mage exclaimed at the top of his lungs. The tendrils and restraints disappeared and all gathered around him. The Sand gathered around the Mage turning into armor. He had turned into a Sand Golden with him inside, completely protected. The Golem began to laugh and launched its fist towards Gilgamesh, causing him to fly back and land of his back. He got up quickly, his crimson-eyes seemed to burn like a flame, as if some inner rage has turned into an inferno.

"Let us see how far your barbarianism lets you go." He used both of his swords and charged towards the Golem, and sliced the things' arm off. It fell to the ground with a hard "Plop*" The King smiled for a second, until the sand rises again reforming the arm and wiping the smile off the King's face. The hand turned into a blade and swung at the King. Three blades appeared before the blade arm and blocked the swing and Gilgamesh used this time to stab directly in the beasts chest. When he pulled out his sword he saw that he nicked the mage in his shoulder before the sand swelled up below him and covered the wound.

The monster let out a roar, letting the earth tremble before it's might. It stomped on the ground causing a spike of Sand to rise up and try to stab the King. The spike was aimed directly at Gilgamesh's face but he put his arm in front his face causing a giant hole in his arm and the spike to be within an inch of it's destination. Gilgamesh's sword fell out of his arm and the blade disintegrated into Golden dust

"YOU DARE SPILL A KING'S BLOOD!"

Eyes wide with fury he stabbed his sword directly in the chest, with the monster trying to block but to no avail. Gilgamesh's strike went clean through the chest, directly in the chest of the Mage. The sand covering him fell into the ground and so did the Mage. His eyes were bloodshot and he started to cough blood. He looked up at Gilgamesh and his shoulder began to blow into the wind, as if it was sand.

"Shall your Kingdom be forgotten into the wind, as the sands of these dunes…" The mage whispered almost as if he were whispering a chant. The rest of his body slowly blew away in the wing and there was no sign of the mage except the red cloak he wore.

Gilgamesh bent over and picked up the red cloak that lay there in the sand, tattered and cut from the battle. The red cloak lay in his hand blowing in the wind. He turned around and tossed the silk robe over his shoulder, the wind carrying it along, never to be seen again. Gilgamesh walked kicking up dust on his way back to his path. He walked passed the squad of Stormtroopers that was just trying to arrest him. He saw the numerous chest wounds that they had sustained and the blood stains that looks out of place in the dust.

He turned his head back to the Endless torrent of sand. At least it solved this problem. He felt something pull on his leg and he saw one of the squad members that had sustained a number of wounds, which while all of them seem painful, none of them seemed to finish the job.

"Please…help me." The stormtrooper begged with a raspy, heavy breath. He tried to pull himself up but he could find the strength.

Gilgamesh looked down on the insect that so begged his help. His bored eyes began to blow and a smile began to form. His golden sword dropped with quick determination and the Stormtrooper's lifeless body fell on the ground.

"If that's what you wish!" His twisted smile began to reveal his true intentions and he couldn't help but let out a chuckle. He let his swords dissipate into the air and disappear into his ever-expanding treasury. Gilgamesh kicked away the corpse from tainting his shoes. He walked over to a building and leaned against it.

So this Omnilium thing…Does it actually work?

He pictured the rainbow colored orb in his hands and it seemed to flow out of his chest into an orb that lay before him. He pressed the Omnilium against his arm and a bright searing pain began to flow throughout his arm. A brief flinch was all that it elicited from the King. After half an hour he checked on how his wound was progressing and he saw his flesh beginning to reform. He reapplied the Omnilium, the brief moment of relief was flooded by the burning sensation he felt in his arm. After some time he took off the Omnilium allowing it to be absorbed into his chest again. His flesh felt tender and baby soft, it felt new and was very sensitive to the outside world as well as being slightly red, as if he had gotten a sunburn directly in that area.

He walked away from the bloody mess of a scene, with all the windows and doors shut tight. He laughed for a brief moment, they were constantly afraid of the things that would go on here. He glanced to the armored troops that attempted to defend the village, but would never has succeeded without the King's help.

Maybe this is why they are so afraid, these things cannot even protect them.

He passed by a bigger building, one with open doors and brandished a sign that had "Saloon" written in large golden letters. He heard a commotion in the bar, revealing the toxic nature of the atmosphere.

I think I should introduce myself to these things. He grimaced as he realized he needed to become more popular with the people in this verse. Or make them fear him…One was more fun than the other.

He pushed open the doors of the Saloon and the doors hit the wall with the thud drawing the attention of everyone in the bar. The eyes of everyone was drawn to the Golden King and dead silence ensued. There were tables of people playing poker and the bar smelled like tobacco and cigars. The King used all of his might just not to retch in the corner and could barely hold a grim look, the toxic aroma was driving him insane. As he went over to the barstool, all eyes were on him. He sat down on the splintery barstool and the soft creak was amplified by the absolute quietness of the room. He put his elbow on the table and cleared his throat before he began to speak.

"Fetch me your finest beer." The silence was broken and the people slowly got back to their routine. There was a man playing a piano in the corner playing old tunes and the people got back to their poker games. The bartender came back, he had just noticed the thick handlebar mustache the man owned and the tentative nature he had towards serving Gilgamesh.

He took a sip and calmly let the grotesque liquid slide down his throat. He felt a shudder coming along from the disgusting thing he had drank but he held it back in.

"Disgusting slime." he muttered under his breathe. He noticed that the Bartender was staring at him while polishing one of the mugs they served the filth in. Gilgamesh forced a smile and pretended to do a toast before he took another drink of the hogwash.

Another man sat next to Gilgamesh, much larger than anyone else in the room and his very presence made the seats leap from the ground. He cleared his throat, and when the bartender came to serve him he waved his hand, almost as if he wasn't interested in sitting there for the beer.

He stared at Gilgamesh, seeming to eye him down. "I heard you call yourself a King. I intend to bring you down Goldy and there is nothing you can do to stop me."

Gilgamesh turned to face the man and saw the abomination. He had an older face, his hair starting to turn grey and his face was covering in a thick matting of fur that he would call a beard. His face has seen battle and his eyes were filled with hate. Gilgamesh put down his drink to deal with the steaming bull that was challenging him. Comically, he yanked on the beard of the man and pulled him down to his level. He opened a portal and brought his blade out easily and brought it to the man's throat.

"Nothing I can do to stop you? I would never rule a rodent like you, you are not worth my time."

The older man tried to make Gilgamesh release his grasp but his grip was too tight on the man's beard. The bartender rushed over, frantically. He didn't want one of his regulars to die just because he couldn't hold his tongue.

"Please gentlemen, Your majesty. Do not let his imprudence be the cause of his death, I beg of you to let this man live."

The king smiled and glanced towards the bartender, with his hand still tightly groped around his beard. His blade was no longer pressed against the neck of the fool but now was held freely in his hand.

"You, I like. Very well, as a good gesture to those who recognize my kingship, I shall spare you. But not without payment."

Gilgamesh then cut off the man's beard having him fall backwards off the chair and into the floor. A loud thud was heard throughout the bar and the crowd's attention was once again on Gilgamesh.

"You shall carry the sign of my new kingdom as punishment. Remember my mercy." He brought out his sword and inscribed a "NB" into the man's chest and let his sword dissipate as the muscular man passed out.

"For everyone else! Let these two men set an example. One is a man who humors me and the other…doesn't. You will service in my Kingdom and you will be my citizen . My New Babylon."

The man groaned on the ground as the wound on his chest started to bleed on the ground. He was rolling on the ground in pain and ended up rolling onto his shoe. The King kicked the man to the side, leaving him clutching his stomach and groaning out loud. The King did nothing but glare at the bleeding giant that had just challenged him and dared not to even spit in his direction.

"So those who are with me follow me and we shall form the Beginning of our New Babylon! We shall shape the future of not only this verse but the entire Omniverse!" The King proclaimed and raised his fist and let out a shout.

A murmur spread throughout the room and a general uprising began to stir in the room. Their voices would not stop and the King did not look satisfied.

"NOW WHO IS WITH ME!" The king shouted, desperate to find the beginning citizens of his new Kingdom. One man began to stand up looked like he was going to walk over to Gilgamesh but the onslaught of stares brought him down and he sat down quickly. The King's blood-red eyes flamed up and it would seem that his head would blow up. The entire room of people seemed to shrink inside, afraid of the powerhouse that stood before them.

"If you will not come willingly, I SHALL TAKE BACK MY KINGDOM BY FORCE!" He bared his teeth and his breathing became heavy. Those insects shall pay and will be punished for their desertion of their kingdom.

"Out of respect for you bartender. I shall let your Bar be peaceful, as long as it continues to please me." His seething rage had simmered down to a soft boil. His breathing became more paced and he took a deep breathe. He walked and pushed the door's open, letting out a stream of murmurs that filled the room. The door's almost flew off their hinges and Gilgamesh exited to the town once more.

"This town will experience hell until I am in control." He walked off and began his conquest of his new Kingdom.
