If I've established that the Empire are hard-asses, and you kill one of their soldiers in earshot of two of their strongest guys, you're gonna get taken down. I think you should appreciate that I'm actually reading player's posts and having NPCs actually react the way they would, rather than just ignoring it like most RPGs do. It takes extra time on my part to do it this way, but I'm happy to do it because I think it makes the RPG better, and I stand by that.

It's not that I disliked your post or am trying to punish you for being the Joker. What you did is within Joker's character. And what Dredd did is within his.

Innumerable Arkham stints aside, I think it's out of character even for the Joker to get himself in that sort of trouble so quickly. Even he's a smart dude who wouldn't potentially kill himself over a joke (unlike, as with Batman, when he pulls similar shit but knows he won't have fatal consequences).

Either way, the writing was great from both sides and it adds a lot of depth to the story, so I wouldn't be too broken up about it.

To add onto what Greg said: I actually really enjoyed what you did and I think it sets you up nicely for your future roleplays. However... well, you're the Joker. Had you shot someone in front of Batman in the context of the comics, he would have done the same thing. Part of being the Joker is being spontaneous and crazy. Doing things that sane people wouldn't do because of the repercussions. The Joker doesn't give fucks. What that does FOR you is give you an opportunity to really explore how The Joker will handle authority figures like Dredd and others. It gives you the opportunity to work around storyline restrictions in a unique way.

But, of course, how you handle this situation is up to you, pal.

@Whirda: Excuse me? Out of character? Isn't this MY character - as in, MY Joker? Not only do I not think this is out of character even for normal Joker, but even if it was then who cares because this is MY interpretation of the character. I'll take criticism all day long but don't come tell me that MY avatar is doing something out of character.

That's your choice, of course. If possible, we'd appreciate it if you could write a "going away" post, just to explain away your presence IC. If not, we can handle that ourselves.

I will say that I'm disappointed. While I can appreciate that feeling you get when things don't go your way when you thought you did a great job, I would have really liked to see more writing from you here. Your writing hasn't rusted, from what I saw, in the time since I last saw you roleplay and, on a personal note, I still remember advice you gave me back when I started writing on Chubbs as Blue and take it to heart as well.

Well, it's so that if someone else wants to roleplay as him, or if our current Joker decided to return, the character is free to be used, instead of a popular character being roped into being an NPC and basically kept from the players. If you'll notice, most of our NPCs are either fairly obscure, or more or less unsuitable for use as a player for other reasons.

eh... I found your post pretty damn funny in and of itself, Joker. And now... Just think of the opportunities you have to fuck with even more stormtroopers on the way to Coruscant. If the Joker can't get out of a measly pair of handcuffs while being watched by a few easily manipulated gooks then I dunno who could!

I'll leave the official ruling on this to Omni, but I wanna give The Joker 48 hours to decide whether he really wants to end it here or if he's like to continue. If he really doesn't want to write anymore, I'll give him an awesome away post. If he decides to continue, he'll have the chance to really shine.

Can't say I didn't expect some drama on the site. I've been killed on RPGs before and been pissed off about it, but eventually I came back around because the consequences are what make it real, and ultimately the RPGs I've been on with consequences and potential repercussions to IC 'mistakes' have been the best ones.

Cool, Joker. Let me know if you want to play your cards with the Empire, or make a go for it. They'll be taking you back by speeder bike ahead of the rest. Escaping wouldn't be easy (you'd probably get a bit shot up in the attempt, but you have a DEF of 4, you're not going to die) but you're the Joker and they're stormtroopers, so ... do what you want.
