The Fate of Feelings
#1
He spoke to me, but I could not speak to him. His cheeky white smile seemed all knowing. It was almost as if he knew that I would find my way back to him. Could he see the questions in my eyes? In my mind? Certainly not. Even if he proclaim himself God, there was no way he would see through my resolve.

My tone is not meant in disgrace, even so. This ‘Omni’ has pulled me out of a gruesome fate that slaved my morals for too long. He is no longer in control of my will. Never again will I break the bond between master and Pokémon like I have done countless times in Sinnoh.

When Omni’s speech finished, something he seemingly has repeated to many others before myself, I am placed in a white box. A giant white box. In fact, it dangerously rivals the appearance of the inside of her Pokéball. Blankness. The only difference I can see beyond my Pokéball is a white structure shaped like one and the obscure, translucent lights off in the distance. This world is odd, I thought. Everything feels real, yet it seems so fake and faux.

“What are you doing outside your Pokéball?” His voice called out behind me. I turn around to see the familiar green hair and Team Galactic outfit that they all wore. He must have somehow been drawn into the Omniverse with her. “Get back in there.”

He raises the Pokéball in my direction and I submit, but I can't help but feel...defiant? Even though the red light reaches out to me, it shatters down the middle and dissipates upon touch. Needless to say I am easily dumbfounded. The Pokéball should have accepted me, but it rejected me.

“What the-?” The human stammers examining the red and white ball that is my home, yet my prison. “Stupid thing must be broken. Whatever, come on Gardevoir. Wherever we are, our goals don't change.”

As he says this, I can't help but feel...indifferent about his commands. It seems almost as if I have some will to deny my trainer.

“Come on you dultz.” He says to me in his authoritative voice, one I yearn to cease for the rest of the eternity. We begin casually walk around the thinned crowd towards one of the translucent lights at, what I assume, is the edge of the white expanse.

As they closed the distance to one of these gates a familiar and yet unfamiliar creature appeared to be lost or in desperation. She stood on four toned legs, her fur short and black like the night with two long rounded ears, and a similar tail, all sticking up in alert. The rings that were wrapped around her ears, her tail, which showed up on the outside of all four limbs, and the last one a crest upon her forehead were bright blue instead or the common yellow, her almond shaped eyes with the cat like pupils were gold. This was an Umbreon, which wouldn't normally register as a very valuable Poke'mon, except this was a Shiny. Anyone who knew breeding statistics would know how rare that was. That was before even finding out she was female.

The umbreon's gruff mewling of it's own name could be heard from a distance, but Gardevoir would understand it better than any of the humanoids around it. Upon closer inspection a scar through the ring on its head and some other minor scuffs would prove that she's already been fighting as she pleads for someone to help. Something about dark creatures attacking the island and mercilessly destroying it. Eclipse wasn't immune to the darklings attacking her verse, but being a dark-type maybe she had faired better than the rest? Was that why she got away? She cried out again, 'They need my help!'

As soon as I see the black figure, normally accented in gold, I know exactly what is about to happen. In my attempts to shelter the poor Umbreon from less than virtuous owner, he sees her whimpering what he hears as her name. She cries for help, but my master cares not for her plight.

“Oh man, it’s a shiny Umbreon! The boss is sure to give me a big promotion for this! Maybe he’ll make me a Captain rank!” He spurts his stupid nonsense as usual, something that was pressing her patience quickly. “Get in there and fetch that Umbreon, now!”

I'm not sure what he wants me to do. Even a major idiot knows that Psychic and Ghost attacks won't work on Dark Types and that’s all I know how to use. My telekinetic powers are useless against her. Not to mention her dark type attack would send me to the morgue with ease. Nevertheless, I approach the the blacked fox-like Pokémon calmly. My mouth moves not, but still she can hear the words I speak.

‘Do not fret. I mean you no harm, Umbreon.’ She hears as my eyes glow softly. ‘There is a problem with you and your friends I sense? Had I the power I would surely aid you, but my owner cannot see past his own ire. Would you join me for a time, so that I am not commanded to assault you? Then I may be able to help you with your problem.”

I crouch down as I speak, doing my best to ease the other Pokémon’s mind and attempt to make myself seem less like a predator. Hopefully she can see reason so we do not waste the energy in a needless skirmish.

As the phychic pokemon approaches the Umbreon it does not cowar in fear. If it knew its type-advantage, however, it does not show it as the other Poke'mon seems to pounce at the idea of someone who might understand it and its needs. Lifting its paws to put them on the slender form of the Embrace Poke'mon, its normally serious face softens a bit to show its appreciation. The sound of its name was rough and hinted between purring and growling, but the other pokemon would understand her just the same as she sounded optimistic for a dark-type. 'Help? You said you would help? Please, my freinds! The whole island is covered in terrible things.'

Eclipse either had tunnel vision or did not understand Gardevoir's speach pattern enough. She pushed off gently, and half jumped as she moved a few feet towards the gate. Stopping she looked back at her and lifting the front paw let out a sound of happy relief before throwing her head in the direction of the gate. Her ears flopped around but even without words - proper or not - it was clear the shiny Umbreon was trying to get her to come along now. To follow her. 'This way!'

The frail, weakened dark-type beckons me to follow. Under any other circumstances, I would react without hesitation but I cannot aid her in such an endeavor with bowl-cut around. He wishes only to further his own course, clueless as to the destination and barely understanding the journey to aforementioned destination. The Umbreon looks at my slender figure oddly when I choose not follow her immediately. She restates her previous outburst of excitement.

‘Come on! This way, they need help!’ She cries for my attention and reaction. My role as dashing-swordsman cannot be fulfilled, though.

‘It is regretful for me to say that I cannot be of much use to you while I’m currently detained by the dultz ushering me to end you. If you wish for my aid, then I ask of you to aid me. Help me rid myself of the man who shackles my will for his greater gain. Then I will not hesitate to bring swift justice to the lurchers you speak of.’ My voice echoes from my mind. While anyone care here my words, the one person who does not need to is well out of earshot. I only wish this Pokemon will see my plight and understand my situation.

The Umbreon's relief melts away as she realizes the other Pokemon would not be following her through the gate. Her perky ears and tail all drift down to show her disappointment. The Moonlight poke'mon then hears of the troublesome story of how her new friend was 'shackled' to someone. Eclipse was no stranger to the poke'ball or trainers, but she's never heard someone call their trainer the things she was. The jackal-like poke'mon moved closer again, and then looked behind her. A crude man stood, growing impatient with his poke'mon and whatever his twisted meaning his perception was giving this situation.

Captured poke'mon have to have some level of trust for the person who holds their ball, or else they wouldn't have been captured. Eclipse could only assume that he broke that trust, or worse. The Dark-type lowered on its haunches and lifted its tail. The rings started to faintly glow, and if either of them knew anything about Umbreon they would know when it get's agitated it sweats poison. Eclipse was more than ready for battle and prepared Toxic as an opener. 'FREE HER!' Umbreon growled, her only warning.

She jumped past me with speed I could only hope to match in my dreams. This Umbreon was quite the sight, even by Pokemon standards. It was brashly reacting to my trainers crude methods. Had I expected her to jump on him the way she did, I would not have asked for her help. Nevertheless, I wished this matter resolved and I will see it finished. My eyes glow more menacing as I approach my master- No, my former master.

“What are you doing? I told you to capture her.” Her yelled at me, as if he thought he still had control of me. This man is not a very bright human, even he should see he has no way to bend my will anymore - Pokeball or no.

‘Even you can see that I have the ability to retaliate.’ My voice echoes. ‘Do you really wish to further your actions against the one being that despises you the most? Someone who has not only witnessed the atrocity of your crimes to mankind and Pokemon, but was forced to be the tool of your exercise?’

“Y-You will obey me! I have the-” As he raises the Pokeball to state his claim, my psychic abilities claim the Pokeball. It flies from his hand and off into the distance, well out of eyesight. He watches the hand-sized container soar until his human eye cannot perceive it further. He then rotates his gaze back to me, fear sunk deep in his gut.

‘You will never order me again. I suggest you refrain from angering me further.’ My hand used to catch the Pokeball in my telekinesis still trailed in the direction my psychic sent it.

“I-I- This won’t be the last you hear of me, you stupid Pokemon! You pay for this you insolent beast.’ He says running off like a cowardly mouse with a tail between it’s legs. The Umbreon, the one I can now call friend, looks up at me and gives me a grin after calming herself.

‘I thank you for your assistance. Though I am aware you did not do much, your spur of aspiration inspired me to make the move I was to nervous to make myself. Now, shall we help your friends?’ My tone turns gentle as I turn and gesture my arm to get her to lead the way.

The roughed up Umbreon looked like it was hit with confuse ray, before letting out a soft cry of happiness. 'Noooo Problem!' Her tail waggled behind her, then she looked up at Gardevoir. 'You scared the crap out of that guy, I approve!' She looked past her to see if she could find her poke'ball. "Should we go find it? Or do you think it will be okay to leave your Poke'ball just hanging out?" The Embrace Poke'mon didn't seem at all worried about someone coming to claim her with it. Even if someone found it, the person holding it would have to find her specifically.

She then jumped with a start as she remembered her own problems. 'Oh no! I forgot about my island!!' She jumped back around to point towards the gate. 'There's like a million of these odd things. They are everywhere. I only barely escaped!' She looked at Gardevoir again, Eclipse nudged her. 'But you are so powerful, you can help me, right?' She said she would, the Blacky remembered their deal. She helps her, and she will get help in return. So why did regret fall on her white face? 'Right?' She asked, less heart in it.

The blackened face of my new ally and friend quick falls flat to the sight of a dark grimace. My face hangs heavy at the overwhelming misjudgment she had placed on my shoulders. Be I prime, I am no stronger than before being given the power to use this ‘Omnilium’, if not even weaker. I retain my psychic prowess and all my mental sanity, yet still my inner energy feels unbalanced and unfocused.

But, I digress. This Pokémon before me, she had begged for my aid, just in hopes that someone, anyone, would help. Yet as she explains the situation further to me, I can see that it’s most likely a suicide mission to attempt such a rescue. My gaze falls on the midnight-colored Pokémon once again.

‘I am truly sorry.’ My voice sounds. ‘Even though I am Prime, I cannot ensure victory. Omni seemed to imply that I would be reborn were I to pass on, this means that I am not invincible, just immortal. Like that of Ho-Oh. Are you familiar with that Pokémon? Well, my primary concern is your safety. You, unlike myself, cannot be reborn. I would grow sorrowed if I were the reason for your epitaph.’

The Umbreon looked up at me in disbelief. Was she horrified that I did not fall through with my promise? I respond quickly to her depressive state.

‘Fret not, I still wish to aid you, as promised, I think we need only take some time to formulate strategy and give me time to practice my new Prime powers. Will this satisfy you?’

The silence was all that Gardevoir got for a long time. Either the Pokemon before her was not capable of thinking as complexly as she was, or it simply did not know what to say. She looked down at the ground and lowered her butt to the ground, the endless white floors reflecting her black form and its shiny blue rings.

Gardevoir sensed she just needed time, and eventually, Eclipse nodded and raised her head some to look at her new companion. 'We are just two, and there are many of them. While I am tough, I am not that tough. I am sorry I tried to put so much pressure on you.' Her ears lowered. 'Still, it saddens me to come to terms that I cannot help them..' She looked back at her gate, the one she'd traveled through to find someone for aid. Her island felt so far away now. Oceans away...

As a Dark-Type, she could tell when things were hopeless.

She had to face the truth, she was lucky she escaped alive. Eclipse didn't have any particular attachments either, she was just another Pokemon in the community. Still, it bothered her to walk away, even if there was absolutely nothing more that she could do. She turned back to the Embrace Pokemon, then at the space at her feet. 'I feel like I've failed them. Except, I wonder if anyone actually notices I am gone..' She looked up with her gold eyes from behind her brows. 'May I come with you? If you say no, I might as well go back and fight a battle that cannot be won.' She was honest with herself and Gardevoir. If she was told to stay here and do nothing, she would be even more useless.

An interesting notion indeed. Umbreon - This Pokémon in front of me - wishes to travel at my side, at least for a time. There’s not a reason I can conjure to decline such an invitation.

‘That is a grand idea, my companion. You have much more knowledge on the Omniverse than myself and I would be honored if you would accompany me for the time being. I swear that will do what we can to aid your island when that time comes, but for now let us hone our skills, and most importantly our minds. I suggest our first course of action should be gathering some information on the Omniverse itself. Do you have anything particular you can tell me about where we are exactly? Omni wasn't kind enough to leave me with a map.’ I ask taking another glance around the Nexus eerily blank landscape.

Umbreon's spirits lifted little by little as Gardevoir both accepted her proposal and even put some responsibility onto the Pokemon in need of something to put her mind to instead of worrying about what people will think of her for not being on the island at this very moment..

She lifted her body back up off the floor to circle around the flowing dress of the psychic Pokemon. 'Where we are? You mean here? The Nexus?' She asked, looking around at the endless white. It actually hurt her eyes to keep staring at what looked like infinite space. 'It's.. ' She paused, sitting down and letting her dusty black tail turn around her legs, the rings connecting absently. She was trying to form the correct wording. 'Well... It's a place where Primes are born, and reborn. It's also a place that can take you anywhere.' She said, twisting her body so she could face Gardevoir. 'Each gate takes you somewhere else. Beyond that though.. I won't be much help.' She nodded to the gate behind them. 'That goes to the Vasty Deeps... There is an island that's just us Pokemon with some visitors. They sometimes talk about the other places.'

Then she turned just enough to nod her nose towards Coruscant. 'And over there. I know about that place only because there are a lot of those stormtroopers walking around. ' Her head turned back around the way it came to take the rest of the endless place. The possibilities were technically just as endless. 'I'm sure we can find someone else to talk to...'

This is a lot to take in, even for someone as intelligent as I. The eerie whiteness of the Nexus makes me feel somewhat unpleasant, but it seemed to be the conjoined link of a bigger system. It was like a computer connection: All computers have connection to the network, which in this case the Nexus was the network. Taking a closer look around the blankness around me, I count at least eight different gates, most of which I cannot make out very clearly. Where exactly they went was anyone's guess.

As Umbreon relays her collective knowledge to me, I listen intently, examing the point in question as she speaks of it. The Vasty Deeps catches my attention pretty quickly when she mentions the island of Pokemon out in the sea. It's not very surprising there would be an island devoted to Pokemon in such make shift world like this. I'm still not sure why Omni would have brought me to this universe at all, frankly. I am no on special, yet he claims I'm meant for some higher purpose here in the Omniverse. Whatever that is, however, I will find it. I will not let this world destroy me.

'I see.' I reply, still in deep thought. 'Then we will just have to see where the road takes us for now. I can feel my psychic powers need time to attune in this world. We should practice to help me focus my telekinesis much more sharply. If we could do that, I would definitely be able to assist you with ridding your home of these horrid creatures you speak of. Let us say we move to the portal over there and find somewhere quiet where I can meditate and practice until then, yes?'

Eclipse gives me a reassuring nod to this and decides to jump ahead of me for the gate. I follow behind, much more slowly than her. It takes a long walk, but we find ourselves in front of another great gate of the Nexus. It is bordered by perfectly hewn stone, very clean and well kept. Although I'm not entirely sure where I am going just yet, but my hopes are high that we will find some information and refine my psychic attunement once more. Our figures fade away into the pearlescent mixture of colors and hues.
