Se7en Sins and Virtues
#1
I did a quick search and found nothing relating to this, so I became super curious!!

Obviously we are all a little familiar with the Seven Sins, might even call them deadly.

Gluttony (Habitual Greed)
Sloth (Indolence)
Greed
Wrath
Pride
Lust
Envy

Some might not know there is a list of Seven Virtues as well:

Prudence (Foresight Sagacity)
Justice
Faith
Hope
Charity
Temperance (Self-Restraint)
Courage

A good character has flaws along side of qualities that make them 'awesome'. To make an interesting character, it's required. (Anti-Mary-Sue/Stu) ((Disclaimer: That's my opinion.)) And no one sin/virtue will explain your character perfectly, in fact its most likely that the character has done all or most of the two lists. But there's always one or two that are strongest in our actions!!

So bare the chracter's soul before me, what Sin is most prominent in your character, and what Viture does she/he have to save them. (Limit it to 2 if you feel the need to use more than one)

My Characters:

ASH
If everyone is still guessing what Ash's major sin is then you might seriously be surprised to find that it is Lust. Not just because she is sexy and doesn't shy away from the subject of dirty things, but becasue she has a lust for danger.

Finding a virtue for her is hard, but I will put my money on Courage because while she may not use it as the 'right' thing to do, she has more guts than most men she's met.

DUST
Despite what people slap on Dust, his sin is not Lust. He literally has to kiss people for his power. Enjoying it is just something he wants. In his current state I'd say Pride is his sin, but not in an arrogance kind of way. He wants to be great, he wants to be seen as a good guy.

At the risk of not breaking my own rule I will limit his list of Virtues just to the two he shows the most, but most of these can be used for him. In his current state - it will change - Charity and Justice. He has a strong want to help people, and be a hero.

Warning: Anything that involves Ash should be rated M. Possibly higher.

Erik Vrell : Ash has a 'love' fourth dimensional shape
Erik Vrell : As in its wide and unfathomable for us mere mortals

(inb4 Kopaka is Ash's mom lol)
And, we dream of home I dream of life out of here Their dreams are small My dreams don't know fear I got my heart full of hope I will change everything No matter what I'm told How impossible it seems We did it before And we'll do it again We're indestructible Even when we're tired And we've been here before Just you and I
Don't try to rescue me I don't need to be rescued

Hiro's sins are definitely Sloth and Envy, in that he's a slacker and spent the day of his friend's wedding to his ex drunk in central park, half naked, slicing frisbees in half with his sword.

His virtues are probably Prudence and Courage, in that he takes pains to analyze a situation and make plans, and Courage because he has the wherewithal to jump into the fray and enact those plans, even if he is scared to do so.

Sans:

Sin: Sloth, Wrath

Sloth is fairly obvious. Sans isn't exactly known for putting much effort into literally anything, primarily due to his nihilistic viewpoint on his own life and of everyone else. It is this same sin that keeps him from stopping The Entity in his original homeworld and is also what gets him killed and sent to the Omniverse in the end.

Wrath has more to do with this interpretation of Sans than anything else. A large part of his arc involves him to let go of the events of the Genocide Route and starting a new life in the Omniverse.

Virture: Charity, Courage

It comes with being a monster. His general kindness and generosity at least gets him buddies, and it is his compassion that drives him to prevent any more "genocides" in the Omniverse. His courage is what makes him more than willing to throw himself into the line of fire when and where it counts.

Ballad:

Sin: Wrath

I mean, he tried to kill the entire Omniverse because he was angry, so....

Virtue: Faith

For a guy who hated all things religion, he had a whole lot of faith in himself and everything he ever made. That's what kept him going.

Isaac:

Sin: Lust

He still yearns for Nicole, and her death is what fuels his insanity alongside his PTSD.

Virtue: Courage

Despite overwhelming odds and everyone dying around him, he just can't give in to fear and despair. He'll truck on no matter how hard it is.

Dane:

Pride, definitely. Despite my OOC comments, Dane is fairly self-absorbed even if he makes a conscious effort to avoid showing it. Thus he's also very prideful, stemming from how he very very rarely asks for assistance (outside of the one time with Sage and the heals which he hates).

I want to say Temperance because of Dane's self-control. But he rarely uses it in moral ways. It's more of an "if I fight this guy later I'll benefit more" sort of thing. So, I'm actually going to say, Hope, because while seemingly pessimistic, he generally still thinks if he keeps working at something he'll eventually get to a desirable outcome, or find a new thing to work for and reach instead. He will generally always persevere. Prudence might also fit, as he's usually cautious (or a coward) and fairly observant, but being in the OV with free respawns hasn't given him much to worry about at the moment nor a reason to really observe things on a larger scale.

Ebony:

None of the sins really fit Ebony much. Definitely not gluttony, wrath, pride, or lust. For sloth, while she will try to hide from some situations out of fear, I wouldn't really write that up as sloth. For greed, maybe. There are things she wants, sure. Like friends. But I'll have to go with Envy because much of her character revolves around wanting to be more like her better self, a fictional character of her creation. Furthermore, due to how easily she gets lonely, she'll likely feel envious of other people with friends or jobs or anything she doesn't have.

The virtues are also hard here. She's not really prudent (more scared of everything and not seeing the big picture), justice is a nope, faith - maybe as she can be quick to trust, hope - possibly, charity - hasn't had a chance to showcase it but she'd probably help people, temperance - nope, courage is probably a no - she gets there eventually but it takes a while. So I'm leaning towards a mixture of Faith and Charity as she's generally well meaning and will try her best to believe in her friends and help people however she can.

Aquamarine's sin would probably be Pride, since she sees the people besides herself and her superiors as nothing but tools, and views herself to be more skilled than others despite her small size. Her virtue would be Justice, since she methodically obeys the law and tries to make sure that those who break the law receive their proper judgement.

Cell: Gluttony, Courage

Cell likes to eat/drink people. A lot. Nuff said. But he's also ready to step up to a challenge. He ain't gonna be stupid and fight 3 peeps solo, but he'll distract them long enough for his pal to win.

Usopp: Envy, Faith

Usopp knows he's not at the same level as most of his friends and often feels worthless because of this. It's why he lies so much, so he can feel like he's powerful. But he has faith in his friends as well. He'll stick with them through dangerous situations because he knows they can bail him out if need be.

Strazio:

Wrath - Dude just has no chill whatsoever
Courage - But he doesn't afraid of no things.

Renji:

Pride - Brohan is too self-absorbed and arrogant
Prudence - He's pretty good at seeing the big picture though.

Kuzuru:

Greed - This guy wants everything and is voracious when it comes to taking what he wants.

Wrath - Dudebro just likes fighting, like he loves it more than anything else.

Somer:

Wrath. Easily. Not only is he nature's wrath incarnate, he's also one vengeful mofo. All the rage and destructive power of a storm wrapped up in one temperamental little ball.

Courage. Stupidly so, even. He just doesn't know how to afraid. He does know when it's a good time to GTFO though >.>

Sonny:

Pride, probably. He tends to think of himself as the superior half due to having a better temperament than Somer. This ties heavily into his virtue, which is...

Temperance. Sonny takes great pride in his ability to slow down, think things through, and get others to do it as well. All things in moderation, however. He's perhaps too restrained, making him very slow to act, and very hesitant to make snap decisions.

Clownpiece:

Pride. It's in the nature of fairies. She loves to boast about herself, even when she should keep quiet.

Courage. Again, stupidly so. She thinks so highly of herself that she's convinced everything will turn out alright.

Hmm...

Amaterasu would have to be Wrath. Surprising, right? Well, she is pretty biased against Yokai of all kinds. She encounters next to no monster-spirits in Okami which she doesn't vanquish, and often times she does so without thinking twice about it, or attempting to resolve things peacefully.
On the other hand, Amaterasu has a number of virtues, being a benevolent goddess and all, but the most prominent would have to be Charity. She helps out everyone she can from humans to common animals (in Okami you can feed birds, for instance) and pretty much journeys across Nippon, giving her time and strength, for the sole reason of vanquishing various evils. Plus, she's the sun goddess - there's little that could be called "giving" as much as the sun.

Undyne also has a mixture of Wrath and Pride. She's incredibly passionate about everything and rather proud about her accomplishments and whatnot, but this passion also tends to get her rage out of control at times, leading to ridiculously over-the-top situations and refusing to listen to reason. Then again Undertale would have been much shorter had she listened to Frisk in their battle.
Her primary virtues would have to be Courage and Justice... Undyne isn't afraid of sacrificing herself for the good of everyone else, as she has proved in the game, and she has a strong sense of Justice - though Justice is a very subjective matter - and fairness. As an example: when she chased Frisk into Hotland and he/she got a call from Papyrus and stopped to take it, Undyne patiently waited for them to be done. Similarly she accepted her defeat more or less graciously when Frisk won, rather than fighting dirty.

Finally, Malon... her sins would be Envy and Greed, I think. That's mostly her Omniverse canon as I did it, of course, but Malon's Mimic and Shapeshift are pretty much the embodiment of these two sins. To some extent she is also envious of the "Hero of time", the single person supposedly able to save all of Hyrule with their heroic-ness. Her sins are relatively mild but they may develop yet.
Virtues, I would say Courage (though she herself isn't aware of how courageous she really is) and Prudence. Doesn't need much explanation, I think.

VISION:

Wrath - He has a fairly short temper, now that I think about it.
Prudence - He's a fucking robot. He's built to do this.

OGONG:

Sloth - I know I haven't made that too clear but Ogong is actually pretty lazy.
Courage - I guess.

Sins:
Pride: This one is obvious; Takezo is very proud of himself and lives to basically validate his own pride. If shattered, see Wrath.

Wrath: Takezo is a vengeful man. He holds grudges and if he is threatened, he is merciless. He is not "angry" as much as he is cruel and prone to overkill.

Lust: Though not his greatest sin, he has spent his fair share on prostitutes.

Virtues:
These are... well... limited. Often even his virtues are self-serving.

Charity: His protection of others, giving up what little he has, and the simple life he lives would appear almost like the lifestyle of a monk. However, Takezo rationalzies Charity as a symbol of strength. He does not need much at all to survive. To defend the weak is to be strong enough for two, or for three.

Courage: The level of fearlessness can sometimes be considered stupidity. If he fears something, it becomes a point of pride to overcome whatever has such a hold on him.

Temperance: The rules he sets upon himself show a great amount of self control. He does not allow himself the luxury of lying, even small ones. He also holds his own word in high regard (to the point it might be considered prideful.) One he makes a promise, it must be seen through, despite how he feels on the matter.

Gluttony: The closest sin (I think), while Des does have the other sins, that's mostly because he just mirrors the people around him. Des always seems to take the death of anyone close to him (emotionally and litterly) as his fault, then goes into a another situation where that is bound to happen. (though the last one is normally most of the time by chance), then he also seems to end up fighting some big over-arcing evil with a ragtag group, (again, by fate). so it's kind of a stretch.

Faith/justice: Faith in his friends that they are doing the right thing. Always tries to get both sides before making decision, and always tries to do the 'right' thing.

Yuuka KazamiBig Grines is like that one meme like... "How many levels of Omniverse are you on?"

Revan Noctis : Desman what are you currently doing in the omniverse?
Desman Black: I'm faking an engagement to a sex deamon to stop two samurai I accidently summoned whipping them in half, while also trying to stop them from doing the same thing to my best freind who is currently having relations with said deamon, and wh has now accidently summoned his previous girlfreind. So you know... normal stuff

Jade

- Wrath. Definitely. Jade is very prone to fits of rage, despite her typical (adorable) friendly demeanor. The descent into Grimbarkness is the complete manifestation of Jade's wrath.
- Hope.

Ada

- I'm tempted to say Lust, but that's only because Ada consistently pursues her own agenda without regard for others. While she is very much a sexual being and knows how to use the way others percieve her body to gain an advantage, this doesn't define her-- instead of being lust in the physical, carnal sense, it's more that she lusts after a goal or objective.
- Prudence.

Chakravartin Wu Kong

Sin: Pride, easily. His worst nightmare is literally just the thought that he might not eventually take over all existence. He sees himself above others,

Virtue: Temperance. He desires total chaos and unending war between all sentient beings with all sentient beings, but most of the time he can come off as a more-or-less mild guy because he can keep those impulses under wraps. He wants ultimate chaos, sure, but he's willing to be patient and do what's constructive, in order to make it happen.

All Might

Sin: Wrath. All Might can actually really hold a grudge. He also has a deep, not irrational, per se, but personal hatred of organized crime of all kinds. Whether it be gangsters or supervillains.

Virtue: The whole bag, really. But the main two are Courage and Charity. For Courage: All Might puts himself second in any fight, willing to risk his life to help others, and face death, and horrors, and pain in the name of simply helping. For Charity: All Might never stops smiling, because he doesn't want to let anyone lose that hope he gives them, even for a second. His whole life is based around giving as much of himself as he can to the people and to protect the peace.

-Greed/Pride -- Guy believes in himself and likes to amass power
-Temperance -- Doesn't mean he isn't chill when he needs to be

Seventeen

-Uhhh, he's gone through each of these at some point in his life, but I'll lean toward Wrath, since he clearly doesn't hesitate to tear people's limbs off
-Probably courage... none of that other shit meshes well
