Patch Notes
Minor edit - http://omniverse-rpg.com/showthread.php?tid=21

For the Darkshire faction quest, Dobson Skendor (long since promoted) has been replaced by the actual Commander of the Guard/Garrison, Atelos the Spartan (http://omniverse-rpg.com/showthread.php?tid=5736)
Q36 added to FAQ:

Q36: Which stat increases your stamina?

Stamina is like a generic stat that never really goes up or down, it's just that, as your ATK/DEF/SPD go up, it takes the same amount of stamina to do more damage/block harder/move faster. You could say that that's reflective of your stamina increasing. With this in mind, doing a lighter punch, way below your full potential, would be easier for you.

A couple of extra lines have been added to the Transformations page: http://omniverse-rpg.com/assistsandtrans...formations

Clarifying that permanent stat upgrades are added to your total for alternate forms and powered-up forms.

I have updated all the Void Quest requirements.

The aim for this is to make speccing your character more interesting and actually determine where you are physically able to go. This was always an intention for the Omniverse but in the name of balance we decided to go with the simple "Level 3+" requirement. However, after playing with these ideas I think they are far too cool to disregard, and give members real gates and goals to overcome with their purchases. While writing these I try to stick to what you would actually need when going through each area or what would help fighting each boss (like flight against the Kraken), imagining the logistics, while focusing minimally on balance. That said, there are some with easier requirements (notably the Green) and everyone should be able to find at least one gate they can solo. Having a group opens up your options significantly, as it should do.

Here is the list of all requirements:

Requirements to complete (can be started earlier). May be completed alone or as a group.
Dark Tower (Dunes)
5+ ATK between entire group (may use powered-up stats as basis). Requirement lowered by 1/2/3 if any participant has a Tier 1/2/3 Super Attack.
5+ SPD between entire group (may use powered-up stats as basis). Requirement lowered by 1 for each Movement power that a group member has.

Caverns (Steppes)
4+ ATK between entire group (may use powered-up stats as basis). Requirement lowered by 1/2/3 if you have a Tier 1/2/3 Super Attack.
3+ DEF between entire group (may use powered-up stats as basis).
2+ TEC between entire group (base or alternate form only) or 3+ TEC between entire group (may use powered-up stats as basis).
All above requirements are lowered by 1 (and only 1) if you have any one of the following powers: Elasticity/Malleability/Shrink/Dissassemble. They are lowered by an additional 2 if you have Phasing.

Swamp (Green)
Combined Level of 5+. Level requirement is lowered by 1 ONLY if one or more member has Basic Regeneration OR 2 for Advanced Regeneration OR 3 for Healing. It is also lowered by 1 for each member with the Survival power.

Kraken (Deeps)
5+ ATK between entire group (may use powered-up stats as basis). Requirement lowered by 1/2/3 if you have a Tier 1/2/3 Super Attack.
7+ SPD between entire group (may use powered-up stats as basis). Requirement lowered by 4 if you have Flight, 1 for each other Movement power.

Sapphiron (Fields)
5+ ATK between entire group (may use powered-up stats as basis). Requirement lowered by 1/2/3 if you have a Tier 1/2/3 Super Attack.
8+ SPD and/or DEF between entire group (may use powered-up stats as basis). Requirement lowered by 1 for each Power of any type.

Silent Hill (Moors)
3+ TEC between entire group (base form or alternate forms only)
Requirement lowered by 1 for each Sensory or Subterfuge power.

The Dream (Astral Realm)
All participants must have Spiritual Enlightenment.
6+ TEC between entire group (may use powered-up stats as basis). Requirement lowered by 1 for each level above 1 your highest-level participant has.

The Digiverse (Dataverse)
Must be able to physically access the Dataverse, by use of a base's Dataverse Uplink Station or otherwise.
5+ TEC between entire group (base or alternate forms only). Requirement lowered by 1 for each level above 1 your highest-level participant has.

If you're already in the midst of undertaking any of these quests, you can disregard these requirements.

Fixed some broken links in the FAQ and updated an age-old favourite question with a less brickwall response.

Old:

Quote:Q18: I want to attack Palpatine or Aragorn.
A: Yes, you can. Just make a post in Help Desk letting me know. I will personally write an update with the guards killing you. Sorry, but nobody is strong enough yet to attempt that. If you really want to, though, you can try.

New:

Quote:Q18: How do I go about attacking stronger factions? Say I want to assault Coruscant or Camelot?
A: See Recognition and Ascendancy.
Bear in mind that the larger the faction, the harder this will be. In the case of the Kingdom or Empire, you're looking at extremely uphill odds.
Most likely an attempt will end with you dead or banished (see Ascendancy for details).

Q6 was updated to reflect that editing IC posts is now possible.

Q22 was updated to reflect that Super Speed can be combined with Burst Movement to instantly burst up to full speed and maintain it.

Q28 was updated to reflect that using Telekinesis to hold down an opponent does require a move (this didn't used to be the case, but Telekinesis was heavily updated a while back).

Old:

Quote:Q35: I want to do an extended flashback. Is this allowed and if so, where do I post it?
A: You may do extended flashbacks either in your character's current location, the Astral Verse, or in the relevant verse forum. If an entire topic takes place in the past, it must be CLEARLY MARKED as a flashback in the topic title. This prevents people from getting misled if they are pursuing your character IC. The rule about abusing fluid time is still relevant. You cannot use this to post about a character's different adventure in the Omniverse while waiting for someone to post. You may, however, continue to write about past stories from your character's own universe if you so desire in the Astral Verse.

I removed that 'ruling'. It seemed weirdly restrictive to make a point of not allowing that when we allow people to write as NPCs, other characters, and just about anything else. Sooo don't see why not.

NEW FAQ

Q37: My character fights in a power suit. If I want them to get out of the suit and walk around outside of fights, does that require an alternate form?

A: No, within reason. The same could be said for many powered-down forms. You can choose to restrict your stats and powers for roleplaying reasons such as your character being in a weakened state, or not actually wanting to have all 10 stat points to start (say you are a weaker character who starts with 5 stat points and gradually trains to reach their full 10 stats. This is okay, but you still have to choose your final base stats when joining). However this is for roleplaying fodder only, and not for a gameplay advantage (for example, saying that your character is smaller in their weaker form, and using that as logic for being able to escape a larger character).

Underverse Expansion Pack - http://omniverse-rpg.com/showthread.php?tid=6623
I've updated the blank roster with a space for 'Consumed OM'. This is a space for OM you spent on items which are now consumed, things like refunded moves, etc.

Added another line for artefacts. These need to listed if carried.

Base fortifications have been added! Currently these are 'luxuries' so rather expensive, coming at 1000, 3000 and 6000 OM for first, second and third tier (you can pay the difference in cost to upgrade). They can be foddered as turrets, military, mercenaries, traps or whatever you wish, but in strictly game terms they're the equivalent to a 10, 20 or 30% upgrade in defender's stats. Wouldn't wanna make it too hard on attackers, would we?

I published our staff material for judging exceptional bonuses on the Bonus Rewards page, so that you can better judge other members for these rewards. The intention for 'GREAT' bonuses is that anyone who has a good grasp of English and thoroughly proofreads their work should be eligible (to reward people who proofread and value quality over quantity). So go forth and nominate!

Quote:Exceptional Writing
If the staff feels as though you wrote an absolutely amazing plot, or a story that was so brilliantly funny or touching that it went above and beyond what we expect, you may be given an award for exceptional writing. Remember that a bonus for exceptional writing is rarely given upon request/self-nomination, but anyone can nominate other members for it if they feel it meets the below guidelines.

GREAT:
+25% OM
Spelling, grammar and writing style are all excellent (no tense-switching, only occasional spelling/grammar errors, shows they had a good proofread of every post). Story is coherent. No large mistakes to criticise. This bonus may only be given to a storyline in which the person receiving it has written at least 5000 words.

EXEMPLARY: +50% OM
You considered the story to be extremely good, both from a stylistic standpoint and from a 'plot' standpoint. For lack of a better word, 'plot' includes characterisation, humour, subverting expectations et cetera. This is a very broad category and almost anything can be considered to be exceptional within this. This bonus may only be given to a storyline in which the person receiving it has written at least 10,000 words.

To nominate a person for an Exceptional Bonus, use the Bonus Request Topic.

Updated staff rank responsibilities:
Quote:Angels - Kelsie (Guu/Frisk), Darjan (Dark Link), Daniel (Edward Elric, Minato Namikaze), Adam Gaite/Colonel, Mark (Vincent Valentine/Kakashi Hatake)
Angels are for members who feel very confident with the site's workings and exercising authority in its systems. They can approve moves and joining forms without oversight, Prime NPCs and the use of Site NPCs.

Cherubs - Spur (Zack Fair/Enzo Matrix), Jade Harley/AJ Crowley (Sprite Team Leader)
Cherubs are a step up from sprites with an additional level of trust and responsibility. They can edit omnilium and posts, allowing them to finalise updates made by sprites, do fortnightlies, fix posts etc. They can also approve member-made secondary NPCs. If you are confident, you can also approve moves but may request help from a higher-ranking staffer if unsure.

Sprites - Amaterasu/Sabrina, Tartaros, Ballad/Sans
Sprites are a basic step up from members for those who wish to help the site out. Sprites can approve quests, grade posts for exceptional status, advise new members, post bounties, PM new members about IC rule breaks and set up rosters and purchase logs for new members. They can also calculate participation bonuses for Cherubs and Angels. If you are confident, you can also approve joining forms (for example ones with no moves or only basic moves such as weapons) but may request help from a higher-ranking staffer if unsure.

You can now see the Top 100 OM users by clicking on your OM total at the top of the screen. We can't exclude inactive users because that'd be more work, so YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO BE GRATEFUL FOR WHAT YOU'VE GOT, YA LITTLE SHITS

I have updated the "Fight Response" rules to give up to a week to respond rather than 72 hours. This gives ample time for offline and inactive players to respond before forfeiting their artefacts. Those who have marked themselves as away for an extended duration are still exempt.

To match this, the 'high profile' state has been extended from 72 hours to 1 week. I think this better matches the pacing of a PbP and our casual nature.

This has been asked before, and it's relevant with IC happenings, so I updated the bounty rulings for what I would consider to be acceptable in terms of turning yourself in or getting rid of your bounty.

Quote:Turning yourself in is possible. If it's been at least three months since you received your bounty, you may try to ingratiate yourself with a faction by turning yourself over to them. As a Prime, factions are often willing to give you a second chance if they can gain your assistance and allegiance. In game terms, this means performing their Faction Quest, which can be found in the sticked information topic for their home verse. This may require you to (publicly at least) renounce your allegiance to a faction that opposes this faction. While being a double agent is possible, be aware that frequent changes of heart will cast great suspicion on you. You should request the input of a staff member or storyteller if you have switched sides before - depending on your in-character reasoning, the faction in question and the way you choose to roleplay your deception, the faction in question may forgive you or they may decide you're better off dead/banished.

Everyone who has Recognition should have been updated to have a new maximum RP of 350, along with a daily income of 25 points. The list is:

Proto, Shang, Sinestro, Neal, Guu, Magus

If we forgot you, let us know.

FAQ updated.

Q38: Can I use an Assist rather than a Power-Up to help meet the requirements for a Void Quest?

A: Yes, if the stat requirement states "May use powered-up stats as basis", you may count Assists INSTEAD of using powered-up stats, as though they were part of your group. Bear in mind this is subject to the usual restrictions in the Assist rules about how many Assists can be summoned at a time - you can't count three Assists towards your stats total if you couldn't actually summon them all at once.
