Day One - Part 2
#61
Luffy outstretched his arms and shot himself through the air with Desco on his back. Thinking quickly Guu grabbed a hold of Yogsothoth which kept pace with their charge while Guu flailed in the strong winds on her stretched arms. Luffy overshot his target though as they crashed through a half broken window and landed roughly inside. Guu quickly shifted her body out of the way of the shards of glass still in the window by getting right behind Yog as she passed through. "Woaaah! Take a look at this place." Desco hopped off of Luffy and looked around. Desco felt very curious about the strange and new location. Everything had a layer of dust as they stood amidst a series of tables and chairs overturned and damaged. Along one wall was a bar a severed hand that was clearly cut by some energy weapon just sitting there. There were some broken empty bottles of various alcohols scattered and mostly the bar had empty glasses and mugs behind it.

As Yogsothoth approached Desco her tailed pusher her back up into the air and she balanced on it with him at her back. "Looks like a Bar" Being in a bar again reminded Luffy of his childhood with the red haired pirate, but he kept a straight face and pushed those thoughts aside as they take a look. "Desco has never been in a bar before. She isn't old enough." "It's okay Desco, the place has been long abandoned anyway." Guu stretched herself on the other side of the bar over the severed hand and started to look what was under the bar.

Desco and Luffy wandered about and both looked at the pool table. "It's a pool table! Desco has never played Pool before." Desco was excited at trying a new game. "Hmm, let's see if we can find the pool stuff!" Luffy's hand shot into the pockets and Desco opened the box on the wall that had two halfs of pool sticks. Luffy fished out only 7 of them in there. "Maybe the others are around here somewhere?"

While Desco and Luffy turned over tables and chairs looking for more pool balls, Guu found some weird pieces of paper that had a picture of a guy named Benjamin Franklin on it and some other old guys which she discarded. But her arms hit on a hidden door which she felt around to pull around two large bottles labeled grog. Guu made her way around the bar and through the room to Luffy who she held out the drinks for. Guu didn't like to drink that stuff because of how it felt and she knew Desco wouldn't. "Hey I found some Grog, you want some?" "Nah I don't drink." "A pirate that doesn't drink Grog?" She looked for some moments at the bottles as she considered that odd fact, shrugging then stretched and put them on the bar next to the hand.

Desco found a couple of balls and Luffy one more, but Guu clapped her hands.. or rather the ends of her arms, together."Guys we need to board up this place. Hurricanes are pretty strong." "Oh, that is a good idea." The trio started to pick up tables and put them against the windows and the door covering up the gaps trying to wedge them into place with eachother to keep them in place. Then Luffy went to the pool table followed by Desco and Guu and they tried to figure out how to play Pool with only 12 balls, two halves of different pool sticks, and three people.

Karl’s words managed to wake me from my nap. Almost as soon as he had finished his monologue, rain began to trickle from the heavens. Another setback, but as with all the others I was determined to overcome this sour turn of events. The wolf corpse would have to rot on the beach, there was no way I could carry the mutt halfway across the damned island. So with a sigh I began my trek inland, using the compass to guide me south I hoped to find shelter from the elements.

No sooner was the beach out of sight that the rain began to pour harder. It felt good on my bruised and burned skin and I grinned slightly. The downpour was far from torrential and in fact it amounted to nothing more than a light summer shower. I was glad to have a chance to wash the dirt and blood from my body. My spear was used as a walking stick, guiding my way through the mucky underbrush of the forest. Covering ground in untamed wilderness was rough and going uphill in the rain did little to make matters easier.

In the distance a small building came into view, it was nestled in the valley between two hills. By this point the rain had picked up quite a bit and I had a hard time seeing into the windows of the building. Several minutes passed as I watched the building from an alright vantage point on one of the hills. The rain obscured my vision, but I did my best to keep watch for any potential threats. My boots were soaked and the warm rain had chilled and begun to freeze me to the bone.

“Fuck it” I grumbled and began to slink towards the building. It seemed to be a restaurant of sorts, with decor from an era or culture I’ve never experienced. The front door was unlocked and with a bit of trepidation I pushed it open. The diner was dark, even if someone was here I couldn’t tell. Slowly and carefully I shut the door behind me and slowly walked forward. Lightning cracked and I froze in my place, for the split second the room was lit and I was not alone. Whoever else was here stayed perfectly quiet and still as I strained, trying to listen for them. There was no way I could rest here, but I certainly wasn’t going out in the storm. I gripped my makeshift spear tightly and held the point outwards.

“Hey...” I spoke softly, hoping to seem non-threatening “let’s agree to not attack each other for the night yeah?” There was no response and no movement, I strained my ears to listen for movement, but there was none. “I’m serious, I’m hurt pretty bad and I just need to rest.”
