Boots...are typically shoes, so wouldn't...logically, the tires be boots? A trunk is another word for an ass. the back end of a car is analogous to an ass.

Trunk just seems more appropriate that boot. I mean, not from the tree point of view, but from the storage item point of view. You put stuff in a normal trunk, you put stuff in your car trunk. They even open similarly...

As for duty... well, I tried pronouncing it differently, but it just sounded weird. Like when I try to pronounce century like sen-too-ree rather than sen-shur-ee.

I've heard americans say cen-too-ree. I would say cent-yer-ee, and when said quickly it comes out as like cen-cher-ee. For duty it's like dyoo-tee, or joo-tee.

I think it's because americans generally drop the 'y' sound from those words. Duty, century. You still say like ... Urine correctly, and uranus, assumedly because to not do so would be a waste of a goldmine of 12 year old humour.

We use the British 'cent-yer-ee' (actually more like 'cent-chur-ee') up in the Northern Wastes, but not 'dyu-tee' because that's ridiculous. <.<

I also agree that 'hood' and 'trunk' make more sense than 'bonnet' and 'boot' because... albeit I'm a huge Top Gear fan, those words in that context make you sound like a crazy person. Although, 'hood' and 'bonnet' are both arguably stupid terms for the metal-plate-what-covers-the-engine-bits, but 'boot' is totally nonsensical, and 'trunk' isn't.

I also had Greg say the word 'hover' the other day to glorious hilarity. Oh, good times.
