IC Dataverse Movie Night?
#21
Guu Wrote:Another format I could suggest: Get a willing Cherub, all of us get on Skype, change our skype screennames to our characters, watch the movie together in some sort of stream, and just roleplay in real time.

Once we're finished, someone on the Storyteller account will copy and paste the chat straight into the dataverse forum and the mentioned Cherub will deal out the OM.

It's a lot more work but much more rewarding in the long run.

I want to do this now. So much so. Sadly I sound nothing like Dean and trying to do a constant gruff voice kills my vocal cords... but I still want to do it!

That is much better.

Edit: Also shut up.

This is one of the coolest RP ideas i've ever seen conceived...especially Guu's format 0_o

Also if I might offer some suggestions:

Matrix Trilogy,
Evil Dead,
Dr. Strangelove, or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
Troll 2
The Fifth Element
It's a Wonderful Life
True Grit (w/ John Wayne)

Agreed. I, personally, would be down to just give out a flt award for the event instead of trying to sort out exactly how much OM people typed, but that'd be something we'd have to get approved.

See, this was what I kind of wanted to do at first, but how many people would be online at the same time to do that? It seems like people might end up being left out, Iunno. I also wouldn't suggest trying to submit the thread for any bonus OM, because there would be plenty from the original Dataverse posts. :/

EDIT: Some people might not even want to share their skype.

The only issues I personally see are getting hold of a stream and people without or unwilling to share their Skype account. As someone who's been in several tabletop groups and other things online, getting everyone together for two or three hours every week or two doesn't seem particularly difficult unless there's a massive timezone difference. (most of us are in the Europe or the Americas, so hopefully getting folks aligned wouldn't be too difficult)

Also, when it comes to possibly getting any OM from this, 100 across the board seems reasonable if we're going with Guu's format.

100 OM sounds fair. I mean, we give out 300 a month for clicking a button 24 times.

We could just make new screen names too. After all you don't even need a working Email for skype.

Yeah. Let's say everyone writes a 10 word comment per minute or two, that'd add up to around 100 OM. Maybe a little more, maybe a little less, but 100 OM seems like a good enough estimate.

I only see 65% of you people online once in a blue moon, but I guess that could work out. An alternative chat program could be Chatzy, but its post record only goes so far back.

If we set up a meeting time, I bet we could make it work.

Okay, modified my original post to accommodate the new plan. Skype seems to be the chat thing people want to use, but other options are out there if someone doesn't want to use it or make a totally new Skype account because of personal reasons. The main problems to consider now are the meeting time and who will be streaming. I can't stream a movie because of my terrible internet, but Livestream is something several friends of mine have used and I think that could work. Plus, it has a chat box on the side.

Would you guys be up for doing this once a week, every two weeks, etc...? Anyone want to volunteer to stream?

I may use my new prime npc from the secondary saga Big Grin as this would be really fun for me.

I think if we do out on a weekend we can find a time that works for most/a lot of people though
