Legacy & War [Base Assault; LAW vs. New Babylon] Discussion
Like, 5 days for 16 people is... incredibly unreasonable?

If people agree on custom posting rules, why isn't that acceptable?

I'm kind of with Thaal on this one. (For once, haha! =P!)

To post once each? In DA, most people were posting once a day for weeks on end.

What I've read on this topic is a few people pushing a custom rule set. If everyone agrees, that's one thing, but there are fourteen (16?) People involved in this fight and rather than getting everyone to agree and come up with a custom system, it's better to use the rules which are written in the rules and which will work perfectly fine without having systems added. The problem I see is that people misunderstood the original system and saw seventy-two hours as being the time limit for a single person to post.

Adding elimination in will not only add more work for the judge, it will potentially unbalance things. I'm stepping in because this is an official site fight with fourteen people and I'm not going to let a vocal few dictate how it's going to be run for EVERYONE, especially when those people have never run an event of this size or even played with the default rules.

That said I'm open to discussion about how long the time limit should be.
Curious about me and the characters I play? See the 'Staff' page! See also the rosters for my characters Samus Aran or Enel if you'd like to see examples of well-formatted rosters. Hope you enjoy the Omniverse!
If we were to use a Call system, more people would be completely unable to post, especially due to the MASSIVE number of people involved. 5 days, or even 10 days, or even 16 days is not something that people would be able to work with, because by the time they're done writing a post, somebody has made a call and they need to rewrite what they've done. I've got about 4 hours a day to devote to not-life, and I just CAN'T use a Call system. It's not reasonable for this kind of fight. Like, I have a job I'm at for 10:30 hours a day. So does Ganondorf. So do a lot of people.

You're saying you can't write a 600 word post in two hours?

Not a good one? And especially not when the majority of the people are returning home from work around the same time every day. I would expect a massive attrition rate

Like it takes me about 2 days to write a Colosseum post

I can see where Omni is coming from. You wanted a way to keep this thing from going too long, and his option certainly fits that bill. It would also allow for a mass style of combat that Sasuke was hoping for. If the round deadline were extended to 7 days, and each person who "calls" a posting time was allotted 4-5 hours instead, would that be better? You could always write up a rough draft before you "call in" and fill in the details in that period.

For the math, 7 day rounds would cut the fight to 21 days. A far more manageable time scale.
Personally I think Ganons idea is a good compromise it cuts down the fight time but gives us plenty of time to write

I don't suppose there will be some compensation or means of posting otherwise due to being locked into combat? Three quarters of a month without RPing is a long time.

Its your own choice if you participate or not. If you rather continue posting you should reconsider getting involved.i highly doubt there will be compensation.

I support Ganon's compromise (look at Jeff, always being Connecticut <3)

If I can add a clause... can we add an extra day to the first round? I know we're not all American, but Thanksgiving is coming up, and I'd appreciate not having to try to cram a post into that day (I'm probably not the only one? Maybe I am, dunno).

So, even with a call system, I'd still like more time to post. This is a REAL fight with a lot of people's MAIN characters, with REAL threat of banishment looming overhead, so, let me take my time and put up art man. Why can't we get 48 hours like the tournament in Camelot? That seems to be wrapping up in decent enough time. =/

Also, the elimination thing was just a cool idea I tossed up there that EVERYONE seemed to think was nifty. We don't have to do it, but it wasn't like, forced upon people. I generally thought people liked the idea and wanted to try it. =/

Ganondorf's compromise involved a 4-5 hour 'Call' period.

4 hours should be enough time to write a 600-1000 word post.

On that note, we haven't even discussed a word limit (or maybe we have and it was buried in the other discussions).

We haven't discussed word limit, no.

Can we take a vote on the 5-6 hours? I dunno if people went over it in chat already and I am just the lone voice here or what, but is there no leeway on the 5-6 hours? What about 12? >.>

I also agree on Ganon's compromise and am fine to the time limit however I'm not opposed to increasing it a bit.

Is 800 words good for a limit? since we don't want to make this thread too wordy and still want to get enough to write enough for a group fight

I would support anything between 600 and 1000. Ironic that 800 is right in the middle of that.

So yea. I support 800 words per post max.

Double post - I feel like, after we've had a few more hours to chat with people who might be working or busy, we should create a separate thread to just vote on rules. People will just post with their vote for the round time limit, call time limit, and word count and democracy can run its course.

I still support a Thanksgiving BYE day. #America
