Koal felt the familiar weight of dread settle in his stomach as he walked the sterile hallways of The Facility, following the steady rhythm of Dr. Corvus. For a man of his age, it hardly showed. His blonde hair showed only hints of silver, and his skin was stretched pleasantly around his bones , looking very much the pet of a young man. Yet Lynch felt that familiar anxiety settle as they prowled halls that seemed to leer at him. Yet on the outside, his face was a wall of apathy. Years of training to show nothing in the face of anything. To be calm and collected in the heart of the enemy. He had given them a story, albeit a partially a true one, and they had bought it. The doctor had at least. The dark-haired inquisitor he had the esteemed pleasure of staring down seemed deliciously suspicious. He could feel her presence following closely behind, unseen by him. But she was there.
"This is an impressive facility, Doctor. It seems you people have advanced far beyond your peers." Corvus preened a bit at Koals words, his face twisting into a self-serving smirk, eyes alight with pride.
"We've sacrificed our lives, and the very lifeblood of our hearts to make all of this," He gestured with with a flowing hand, "possible." He walked to a thick metal door, marked with only the designation BRIDGE. A blue-white grid of light erupted from a niche in the security door, enveloping the Good Doctor in a halo of luminescence. It then scanned Koal in a similar manner, the light changing colors to be violet-tinged, then retreating back, leaving the duo waiting for but a moment before the door hissed open. Steam erupted from vents in the door, and steel scraped along steel, the sound dragging its cruel claws across Koals eardrums. The circular door fractured into seemingly uneven fragments before they were pulled into slots in the frame of the doorway. Corvus lead Koal into a grand laboratory, people in grey lab coats examining things under microscopes, two of them waiting on opposite sides of what seemed like a glass box. They're outfits consisted of black trench coats with an insignia that he couldn't place at this distance. He swallowed the lump in his throats and continued to follow the doctor.
"Inquisitor, please seal the room. General staff is to secure themselves in the observation shelters until tests have been concluded." Koal almost panicked as all the windows and doors suddenly slammed shut and locked. The people in the room filed out until only Koal, Corvus, Lilith, and the two unknowns remained. He peered closer at the uniforms trying to place where he recognized the symbol from. A skull with winds sprouting from the the gaping mouth. Then Koal get time slow down, his blood turned to ice, his breathing hitched. His pupils quivering in fear, he met the first unknowns eyes. Amber and reptilian, he recognized them immediately. They were from his world, but how the hell did they end up here?
"They went through a lot of trouble to get you here, darling. The least you could do is hear them out." Koal jumped as he felt Inquisitor Lilith's voice in his ear, her hands on his shoulders. He had a feeling he wasn't going to like what happened to him here.
