“Hey, why are we heading back? I know the tunnels are confusing and everything but this looks an awful lot like the city we just left,” Erika asked, she was angry, not stupid.
“Fight’s over. But it isn’t game over.” Deadpool said vaguely as his gloves tapped across the screen, sliding over posts upon unraveling posts of dataverse messages. Cheering on the underdog for winning the fight, booing Harlan for letting the old man destroy him even though he was a were-beast.
“All this walking is killing my feet,” Dust said, gesturing down to his barefoot toes. They were covered in caked on slime from Zone D, and likely the caves had roughed up the bottom of his feet in scratches. Not many people other than Tamsin (who cringed), had noticed he wasn’t wearing shoes.
“Did you want to search for some shoes for your feet?” she asked him, pointing down to all the terrible filth.
“Good luck trying to find my size,” Dust said and then Erika shot him a hilarious look of Nice innuendo.
Tamsin noticed Gildarts also was missing a shoe, but it was less of a hindrance for the prime who’s silver leg shown through all the caked on dirt, he likely didn’t even realize. He’d sustained more injuries since she’d last treated him and her glistening eyes dusted over the entire group. Three of them were missing shirts, one guy never had a shirt and instead wore a blood colored (or covered?) onesie that covered his face, the other blonde girl Erika seemed not to mind that her hair was untidy.
The maid’s inner discourse was something she’d attempted to contain, because didn’t these people want to look respectable? If not for the audience than for their opponents? Patching things up was a good hobby for her, it kept her busy and gave her mind somewhere to go when she didn’t want to think about… The past.
