Jared groaned at the girl’s excitement, there were lives at stake here! Mainly his own, another one of the spectators held up their drink and gestured for a refill, the half-orc sighed as he got up to top them off, and take a few more orders while Cana was rooting on her dad.
“Take that!” Cana said excitedly, “Whoa, who’s voice is that?”
“Hm? Who do you mean, Cana?” Cassandra replied back, curiously.
“Who is this… Karl person?” Cana explained further.
“His employer, and host of the games,” Cassandra pointed to Jared who was shaking up a silver cylinder.
“Does… Gildarts know him personally?” Cana asked.
The vampire shrugged her shoulders, “How should I know? Gildarts may have done this event before though.”
“Why would he join something so brutal and bloody?” Cana was confused, desperate for a reason while she took another indulgent swig off of her keg full of ale.
“You tell me, you know him better,” Cassandra spoke.
“Hm.. It must have been a mistake, or he wants to put an end to the event, or maybe… He just wants to fight some people who are his level and not have to worry. You said primes don’t die, right?” Cana questioned.
Cassandra nodded and her huge hat came down on Cana’s heated cheeks like a fan, Jared came back interrupting the two girls with information, “So this year, miss Cana,” he announced much more fluently, much more on track with her own thoughts, “Karl pitched a more friendly game, the fights and such, you know, open to only Primes. Last year… That wasn’t the case and some people died. No one who couldn’t be re-summoned though, y’know?”
“Okay…” Cana agreed, half-following where the bartender extraordinaire was going with this.
“So Primes come back after dying, to our knowledge, and well, most of them,” Jared informed her, “So no one is actually at risk in this setting of Dante’s Abyss. So you’re a newer secondary then?”
“Yes, I guess,” Cana agreed, “Hey, why is Dante’s Abyss called that if the host’s name is Karl?”
Cassandra and Jared shrugged simultaneously and the half-orc looked at the screen, “So like, if Gildarts won, does that mean you still want to read my fortune?”
Cana nodded, “Of course, I’m glad to see you were rooting for him too.”
That truly wasn’t the entire case, but as long as his fortune teller was happy and his reading was accurate, Omni could’ve come down from above and smited half of the secondary population.
“Let’s get started, shall we? Are you ready for me to turn over your cards and for me to interpret the future?” Cana said with a winking smile.
