As Tearen and Strazio continued along the southbound highway, weaving among the mountain's sheer cliffs, the pair of Primes passed by the spot where he and Malon had fought Cell and Archer approximately one day ago. They didn't stop moving nor dwell on the fact, but the elder Prime could easily spot the stretch of beach where the exchange had taken place. Trees were splintered, rocks were scorched, and memories of pain shouted angrily up at him as the wended along the asphalt high above. It reminded the Shadow to check Malon's progress in the Colosseum, and so he willed his Synpad to float around to face him.
The fight had progressed significantly since he had last checked. It seemed as though the Sage was willing to help defend Malon against Victor Hendy, which produced mixed feelings in the ex-enigma. On one hand, he appreciated that the Sage was valiant enough to recognize the difference between depredation and competition. On the other hand, this was Malon's opportunity to learn how to fly, having been so rudely ejected from Tearen's metaphorical nest. It seemed as though she had gotten a grip over her initial panic, which warmed the eldritch human's heart; like watching a toddler's first steps.
Atta girl, Mal.
Tearen felt Strazio's eyes peering curiously at the hovering screen. The elder Prime turned around and glanced at the rage mage, who was unabashed by his own snooping.
"That was the girl you were teamed up with before, right?"
"Yes."
"Nice."
Tearen sighed. He couldn't be absolutely sure that Strazio was indicating an approval of some perceived sexual interest; the man's miasma of brooding ire was as impervious as ever. Still, this was a train of thought that was better left at the crossroads.
"She was like daughter to me."
Strazio raised an eyebrow. His tone was not entirely chiding.
"Oh. You two have known each other a while then?"
Tearen's gaze shifted slightly. It was an uncharacteristic moment of self-conscious thinking, and it did not escape the battlemage's notice.
"Oh so...it's like a...complex or something?" Strazio said in a tone that seemed a little too loud, despite the fact that there wasn't so much as a single buzz-cam nearby. Tearen's face adopted a soft scowl, but he breathed and accepted the reality.
"Something, yeah. In my homeworld I had a daughter...I..." Tearen trailed off, not sure how much he should simplify this story. Strazio nodded quietly and held up his remaining hand in a halting manner.
"I got ya." the Avatar of Rage said softly. He wasn't really one to be judging other people's coping mechanisms, and he was aware of this. Despite the fact that Strazio seemed to accept the behavior he had been hiding, Tearen was still reticent to confront it directly. It conjured memories of a few too many messes that he would he was reluctant to dwell on.
The pair continued on in silence once again.

Quote:Tearen and Strazio moved from E7 to E10
And, we dream of home I dream of life out of here Their dreams are small My dreams don't know fear I got my heart full of hope I will change everything No matter what I'm told How impossible it seems We did it before And we'll do it again We're indestructible Even when we're tired And we've been here before Just you and I
Don't try to rescue me I don't need to be rescued
Don't try to rescue me I don't need to be rescued
