Dante vs Gildarts

A GIANT EXPLOSION?!

EVERYWHERE, AUDIENCES WENT CRAZY WITH MILD-THUSIAM.

The dust cleared.

The Son of Sparda stood tall, even though he had weathered a storm worse than anything he had faced in the past.   With his pistols at the ready, he advanced with labored paces toward the spot of his foe.  Instead of finding a battered and beaten Gildarts, the gunslinger received a metal fist to the side of his skull.  

Staggered by the impact, Redgrave tried to put a few bullets through his assailent’s hide, but his efforts fell short as another blow caught him in the chin.  As he fell, he tried to kick away to buy himself some space.  He hit the ground hard on his shoulder and tried to pull himself up to counterattack.  A boot crashed into his face, shattering the bones in his nose and face.  His torso whipped back, slamming into the ground with enough force to instantly concuss the gunslinger.

Hovering in and out of consciousness, Tony Redgrave tried to lift one of his weapons.  He could still see the shape moving closer to him—all he needed to do was pull the trigger.

A second swift kick ended that dream.

“Good fight,” Gildarts muttered softly as he looked up into the Colosseum.  “He’s done, Karl.  I don’t want any more of his blood on my hands.”

There was a silence in the Colosseum before a familiar voice rang out.  “Of course… Just remember this when they try and call me a sadist.”

In a swirl of lights, Dante vanished, whisked away to receive some medical treatment.  Gildarts was left in the silence of the war-ravaged Colosseum for just a few moments longer before he was returned to the island.

Dante has been soundly defeated by Gildarts, who opted to SPARE him.
