“Yeah um...” She said, averting her gaze from Undyne. “I knew about that.”
“Huh? What do you mean?”
She thought her words carefully. While she needed to tell her everything, about her true lab, about the experiments, she knew now wasn’t the right time to burden her with everything. Right now, she wanted Undyne to enjoy today, so she went with a half truth.
“Well, me, Frisk, and Toriel ran into Sans as we were going through the gate.” She said. “He told us you were on the warpath to fight a flower.”
“Well son of a bitch,” she said with a chortle, “suddenly his cheeky little comments in his texts make a lot more sense!”
“Well, he gave me your number earlier in the conversation, and I’m sorry. I sent those texts.”
“Why are you sorry?”
“Well, I knew I shouldn’t interfere with your job, I was just afraid I was going to lose you before I could run into you. I wasn’t thinking straight, I mean obviously you’d come out of it okay but I just, worried more than I should.”
“Hey, don't worry about it!” She said, with a smile. “After a year apart, I can’t blame you if you forgot a little bit how awesome I am! And you had good intention, yeah?”
Alphys gave her a little awkward smile, which Undyne returned tenfold. She suddenly reached over and grabbed her by the claw. It startled the drake a bit, though after everything that’s happened in this room, nothing could full on surprise her anymore.
“Let’s go enjoy the party!”
“What about your injuries?”
“All the major ones healed up already!”
The doctor looked her over, and she was right. All that was left was some scratches and bruises that would probably heal up normally.
“So what do you say?”
Alphys took one look in Undyne’s eyes, and it gave her a new bundle of courage.
“Yeah! Let’s do it!”
“That’s the spirit!” The knight said excitedly.
