Hecate vs. Cirno
#7
A still dispersal of crimson red had trickled from a shallow gash on Xx_Yandere_Lo♥er_xX's chest, each droplet now suspended within the frozen emulsion of blood and ice. The burning smell of seared flesh and cotton Acting through the dull pain, he suppressed the urge the shiver, eyeing up his foe. Muscles beginning to burn from the familiar sensation of lactic acid build up, he calmed his nerves for a moment. He'd suffered a flesh wound and a singed shoulder - that was nothing.

He lunged forward, kicking speckles of dirt off the ground and thrusting the tip of his blade forward. It wasn't a stabbing weapon, he just wanted to close the distance and force Warren to dodge. The prime wasn't faster than he was, just more gymnastic. If he wanted to tire himself out by inefficiently flipping his way out of attacks, he was welcome to. One slash followed another as Xx_Yandere_Lo♥er_xX hacked at the prime, digging into skin.

Two steps back.

That was his rule. Never step back more than twice. Move sideways. Push back forward. Do anything but move back twice. You'd only let your opponent build more momentum, forcing you to speed up as well. And, the faster you were going, the harder it was to dodge.

A mistake Warren Zimmer had made throughout his quest for respite, Xx_Yandere_Lo♥er_xX thought. He might be able to flip, but with every athletic dodge, he made it increasingly easier for Xx_Yandere_Lo♥er_xX to learn his style and pursue him further.

Another nick, another flick of red, another minor victory.

Perhaps he could have been more aggressive, putting force into his blade rather than simply aiming to hit, but he was a tactician. A master of the sword. Such a reckless mauver would leave him open. He was playing the long game, not knowing what any of Warren's tech did.

Twisting his blade, Xx_Yandere_Lo♥er_xX caught Warren's shin mid-jump but made the mistake of allowing his foe to resurge, leaving just a little too much time between that swing and the one that followed, perfectly in time with the activation of Warren's plan.

A flood of nanobots and lasers poured from the older prime's watch, instantly forming a patchy semi-crystalline purple football with odd wires and flashing lights. It gave off the appearance of being heavy, but to Xx_Yandere_Lo♥er_xX's surprise, Warren dropped it, then kicked it. Hard.

Reacting on instinct, Xx_Yandere_Lo♥er_xX stepped forward, swinging his blade down and aiming to deflect the metal.

Instead of the resounding ding he expected, a rocketing BANG crashed through his eardrums; the explosion reverberated through his blade and punched into his chest. Warren didn't fare much better, being only an extra pace away and wounded by his own weapon due to Xx_Yandere_Lo♥er_xX's advance.

In the broken shell of the remnants, a sickly purple smog hissed, crackling out of the mechanism and swiftly dispersing through the air. His arms ached, and scraps of his shirt were incinerated, but surprisingly his fedora remained unharmed, his cloak billowing in the wind dramatically. Instead of avoiding the toxins, he ran forward, ribs and lungs protesting with every step as faint trickles of blood dripped from his chest, the vaporised ice no longer quelling the wound. His mind felt a little woozy from the gas, unfocused, but his mother's cooking was a thousand times worse - this was nothing.

Hefting his blade, he cast Warren's counter-thrust to the side and closed in, slamming his elbow into the prime's nose before following up with a loose swing at the man's legs, again adding another sharp cut. Twisting and turning the steel, he stayed close, too close for an eight-foot spear to be effective, too close for his sword to truly be of use.

With a smirk, he shook his head back, letting the fedora fall to the ground before ducking and straightening his legs, thrusting the top of his head into Warren's chin. The moment he floundered back Xx_Yandere_Lo♥er_xX wielded his blade with all his might, cleaving it through the armour and carving a strong upwards diagonal groove over Warren's chest.

Having put all his force into the blow, Xx_Yandere_Lo♥er_xX stepped back, breathing deeply now that he'd escaped the fog cloud. Panting lightly, he raised his head, looking Warren in the eyes, smirking. "Your gonna die, old man."

With a grunt, he closed the distance between them once again. Warren held his ground, firing a blast of purple with his spear, but his aim was so telegraphed that it was trivial for Xx_Yandere_Lo♥er_xX to twist his body to the side, moving in close enough to swing his sword down, not feinting like he had with many other strikes.

Steel clashed against steel, locking together; Warren's heels sunk into the weak ground as Xx_Yandere_Lo♥er_xX began to steadily apply more force, overpowering his foe.
