As soon as the fish knight warped in, she was immediately spotted by a little blonde girl in a floral dress. As Undyne looked around confused at her suddenly change of location, the little girl snapped a photo of her and sent it off.
A few miles away, in the oHarmony Headquarters, an alarm sounded. It made a loud ascending Wooooooop sound as red lights flashed from signals embedded near the ceiling.
A fox with a headset pointed at their screen, which displayed the just taken photo.
“Miss President! It’s Undyne! She’s-”
“Okay, TURN OFF THE ALARMS!” Yelled a very perturbed alicorn, who has risen out of her seat in confusion.
Upon the sound of her aggravated voice, a nearby cat in front of her own control panel, lifted her paw off the red button that read “Press in Case of Emergency” and then slammed it down on another button, “Press in Case of False Alarm.” The flashing lights and ear piercing sound finally ceased, sparing the former princess of a future if hearing problems.
“Why do we even have an alarm system like that? Even if we have a fire or something people would be too death the hear it coming!”
“Miss President! Undyne has returned to Ambrosia!” Cried out the fox, unphased by the events that just transpired.
“Oh good, where is she headed?”
“This report just in, it appears she’s being ushered into the palace’s Healing Center. She may have just came from a battle.”
“Ah, well, alert Alphys, she may want to visit her while recovering.”
“Hold on a minute Miss President!”
All eyes shot across the room towards a pink ferret looking thing with twitching ribbons that trail from his head. He makes a pronounced step forward.
“Mind my intrusion, but we can’t have Alphys reunite with her while she’s in the palace!”
“Sylveon, I hired you make a commercial, you’re not even attached to this project!”
“You knew what you were in for when you hired me!” He stated in a jovial tone, as if being difficult to work with was a brag worthy quality.
“No I didn’t. I never hired you befo-”
“Miss President, I have people all over the front of the palace, people ready to pull out their phones and shoot the happy couple as they reunite! You know how much this will be a boost for the company?” He said with a shit-eating grin spread across his smarmy face. Then it suddenly dropped to a frown. The change in emotion was so jarring, it was as if it were scripted. “But, Guu won’t let me set up cameras in the palace, especially in the healing pool area. Something about respecting her daughter’s privacy. But anyways the point is, let Alphys wait.
Sylveon shuffled his weight forward, as he mustered up the money shot, directed straight at the princess.
“Have them reunite at the perfect moment.” He said, puppy dog eyes that would kill most men.
However, she was not most men. The president was fuming, she stamped both her hooves down in front of him, throwing him off balance. As he got up straight, she shot her neck forward and pressed her face against his.
“Listen here. It’s bad enough what I have to do around this place! I was the Princess of love before a crazy unicorn brought me here! Running a hook up vehicle is a Tartaros of a downgrade in my book, and I’m not going to turn one of the few GENUINE relationships I’ve come across into one of your advertising campaigns!”
“But president-”
“We are going to notify Alphys that her loved one is here, she is going to spend time with her entirely uninterrupted and unfilmed. And maybe, if we’re lucky, she’ll do a testimonial when it’s all through. Are we clear on this?”
Sylveon was quiet for a moment, hoping his disapproving glare would give a last minute change of heart..
“I said, are we clear?”
“Crystal.”
Alphys had just got the news. Her heart skipped a beat as she read the text message from oHarmony.
Undyne was nearby! After almost a year in the Omniverse, after almost a year of searching for her, she just wound up stumbling into the same town!
Leaving the security of her hotel room, she took off into the disorienting chaos of the birthday party crowds. She knew Undyne was in the palace, in the medical center. She span around, looking for the pink building in the horizon. When it finally came into view, she took off as fast as her little legs could take her.
She didn’t keep track of how long it took her to get there, she just watched as the building came closer and closer, a monument of her endless quest coming to its merciful conclusion.
She eventually passed through the Pokute palace gates, waddled through the jungle sanctuary and made her way into the building.
As she approached the door to the medical center, she slowed, choosing to sneak a peek into the room before heading in.
There she was, meditating under a waterfall.
Suddenly, all the emotions flooded in at once. She could feel her heart beating at an enormous rate, a wave of warmth traveled up her chest and even across her face. Seeing her again, not just in the most anime of positions ever, but in the bathing suit she wore that day they spent together, sent a cavalcade of memories, some good, some bad, all of them cherished.
She had gone over them hundreds of times in her head in the past, and every single time before then she was just a lonely girl pining for the only person that reciprocated her feelings, but now she felt like she was in her own anime, the heroine, reuniting with her lost love after a long journey, having one last flashback before the big reunion.
Who was she kidding, Undyne was the protagonist here, Alphys was the lost love interest in this situation. At least that’s what she believed.
After thinking for a second, she instead went into a neighboring room. She summoned her bathing suit from that day and quickly changed into it.
Now properly dressed for it, she slowly crept into the medical center, placing her clothing in one of the cubbies as she inched towards the pool. Her heart was pounding out of her chest as she felt a strange mixture of fear and excitement. She didn’t even consider the noise her feet were making. She didn’t even consider that a warrior like Undyne would be aware of another presence in the room even while deep in meditation.
Not that it mattered. Alphys slipped and fell into the pool with a splash.
As she regained her wits, she heard Undyne speak, with drenched glasses, she could see that the warrior didn’t even open her eyes at the disturbance.
“I don’t mind sharing this space, but at least be quiet. I’m trying to meditate!”
In retrospect, she was lucky not to be attacked, though now she had established herself as extremely clumsy, she hoped the warrior had put her mind at ease of any possible threat.
The nerdy drake climbed back on her feet. The water on her glasses completely slid off as they came in contact with the air, it was one of her proudest inventions. In retrospect, she should have sold the concept while she was the royal scientist, but oh well.
She waded through the pool, just to get closer to her. When she was a mere 30 feet away, she conquered the frog in her throat and spoke up.
“Un-undyne?”
