Happily reunited
#1
When Undyne appeared in Ambrosia's Recall Station again - a large statue of some childlike human oddly reminding her of Frisk, holding its hands out with the station in its middle, her first words were: "Ghh... what the hell was that all about?" This girl claimed to have fought her yet she had never met her before. Had she taken the souls? And Flowey's body?

A new crack appeared on her SOUL and the feeling of two fingers falling off and turning to dust pulled her back to the present. Actually, she should be more worried about herself right now... though Betty hadn't attacked her, she felt very weakened. A monster servant of Pokute Palace wearing a frilly maid outfit approached her, looking noticeably worried, and gasped as she arrived and saw Undyne's sorry state. "Oh no, you're injured! Have you recalled out of a battle? Can you walk?"

"... probably", Undyne replied as she pushed herself to her feet. Yeah, she could still manage.

"Then follow me, quickly! The Healing Center is right around the corner." She took Undyne by her armored arm and led her through a side entrance into the palace, then into... a bathhouse?

"Hey, you're mistaken... I need some first aid, not a bath."

"Nono, we're in the right place. This is magical water. Just step in and soak your injuries in it, it'll heal you." She stood by as Undyne pulled her armor off manually, first ridding herself of the gloves and arm-guards, then the heavy chestpiece and finally the leg-guards and boots. She cared little that by going into the water she was drenching the tanktop and pants that she wore underneath that right now - to take those off would just have wasted time. She made a silent promise that if she died here she'd come back as a ghost to haunt that girl for bringing her to the wrong place.

As soon as her battered body sunk into the water, that promise was forgotten about. Undyne could not help but to groan with unrestrained relief as the warm, minimally green water washed over her and her pain vanished almost instantly. Pain in places that she hadn't even realized hurt. She submerged her head as well and let the water soak her hair, then sat on the staircase leading into the pool. "Thank you", she told the girl with a bright smile. "I feel better already."

"That's good! But, you need to stay in the water for a few hours, your injuries will only heal if you don't leave it."

"I guessed..." She looked at her left hand which was missing the pinky and index fingers. "I'd better change into something more appropriate then. Thank you for bringing me here, though. I owe you one."

"Don't mention it. I'll leave you to your recovery then!" she said and, with Undyne not protesting, left.

Okay, first on the list was to get herself something to wear. She closed her eyes and focused, summoning a two-piece swimsuit like the one that she had worn that day with Alphys, on the beach. The day before she'd been brought here. She let the spring do its work while summoning, then as soon as she felt the soft tissue in her hands she stripped her clothing off including the eyepatch, dumped it onto a pile next to her armor, donned the swimsuit and leapt into the water - which she was promptly punished for with a stinging pain across her abdomen. Even if the pain was gone she was far from healed yet, after all. Not that it kept her from going at it a bit more gently, submerging herself entirely and letting her gills take over while she did a few circles in the deeper part of the pool. But even that wasn't something that she could keep up for long: what little stamina she had regained since the fight with Flowey was rapidly lost from the swimming, and soon she needed to stop.

"Whew... I should probably check for Sans's messages," she told herself as she returned to the edge to have a seat. Thankfully her phone was waterproof - what else would it be when she lived in WATERfall of all places? - so even though it had gotten soaked along with her pants it functioned just fine when she pulled it out. Well, what do you know, he answered already. So he was still in Ambrosia, that was good. But what was that about a special surprise? Had he found Papyrus? She rolled her eyes and typed a fast reply, then looked around for a good place to relax.

A statue in the back of the bathhouse caught her eye. It was that kid looking like Frisk again, holding a jar and with its mouth wide open. From both the jar and the mouth came a steady stream of the healing water that was likely drained from somewhere else. It fell into a shallow pool and from there poured into the main one. Hmm, what if...? She grabbed the phone just in case, walked and swam over to the shallow pool and sat. Right beneath the waterfall, perfect! She crossed her legs beneath herself, put the phone down next to the pool where it wouldn't be washed away by the current, closed her eyes and breathed deep in through both her gills and nose.

She had meditated under waterfalls before, but never under one whose water healed and was this warm. She felt relaxed, almost drowsy, and allowed her conscience to drift a little as the healing waters continued their work on her body. Of course, a true warrior's senses were always sharp like a blade. Nobody could hope to sneak up on her even if she meditated a little. Nobody at all.

...

... were those footsteps she heard, coming into the room? It'd better not be some kid wanting to try on her suit.
