Dante's Abyss -- Spectator Thread
#18
“Can we get another one over here?” Cassandra called over the the man who stood next to the cart full of booze.

“Another… Drink?” the Syntech Secondary asked wryly.

“Ugh, noo, just because she doesn’t look like she can lock it away doesn’t mean she doesn’t wanna get drunk to celebrate. Duh!” Cassandra lectured the bartender. He stood tall, was half… Orc or something, because of his green skin, and wore a very nice collared shirt with a bright Syntech label embroidered on it. Customer service, the bartender was the property of this fine… Institution while on the clock, off the clock, though, he sometimes skipped over to Costa Del Sol and mixed drinks for the hot island girls.

Now, he was on the clock and had to keep himself from rolling his eyes at the vampire’s antics. “Another keg? Listen I just gave you that keg it can’t be empty…”

“Lift. It.” Cassandra growled as her eyes narrowed, the insurgence challenged her superiority complex. She hated to be told she was wrong. Every millennial's worst nightmare.

“Okay…” Jared said and did lift it. Cana, the pretty fortune telling wizard over there had polished it off in a matter of minutes. “Won’t she get like… Alcohol poisoning?”

“Nah she’s a wizard or someshit, if you want, I’ll have her read your fortune for you as your tip?” Cassandra offered. She had gotten a little catty but was simmering down again. Cana was out of frame and really hadn’t noticed.

The Fairy Tail wizard was more preoccupied with Gildarts who appeared to be blushing at some maid whose name he didn’t even know. It made her want to roll her eyes, the man was so corny. So… Dad-ish. But what had been that before? When he’d slammed his hands along the side of his head. The cameras had switched and the scene was gone again. Focused off of Gildarts and onto the drama between the two groups. With that elf Gildarts had paired up with.

Cana was protective of her guildmates and father. So she couldn’t see why he’d want to be with someone like that. Illidan was just so… Villainous, insidious, dark, and misunderstood. He could turn in an instant and stab her father in the back. Though, maybe Gildarts liked being kept on his toes...

This Tamsin woman seemed like a much better suit for him (girlfriend-wise too, Gildarts was getting a little too clingy to that chainsaw) but now she’d been culled to the arena. Cana sighed, at least she’d finished stitching up his back, the wizard’s wounds had looked pretty bad and Gildarts likely wouldn’t do much about them other than dab them with the liquor soaked cloth from the maid-girl. Then he’d likely put his flammable hand too close to the fire and singe the metal of his palm.

“Yup, there it is…” Cana confirmed as Gildarts began to burn the breakfast of lumpy pancakes. She chuckled though, her face and cheeks red with alcohol, but not enough.

Next she looked up to see a dashing young gentleman with green skin dropping with a heavy Thud! the new keg of ale. “Wow! Thanks!” Cana smiled and couldn’t wait to lift the sweet booze to her lips.

Yes. She drank straight from the keg. Does it it surprise you? She’s a damn strong mage and she can lift heavy things if it means getting the beer in faster. After one gulp she set the keg down, not spilling a drop despite the fizzy overflow, on herself nor the ground, nor the people around her.

Jared the Syntech employee and half-orc was still standing there expectantly. Cana’s pretty doe eyes fell on him curiously. “Oh uh, I was told you could read my fortune?” Jared asked nervously looking back at Cassandra who offered a cynical thumbs-up to both of them.

Cana cast a glance at Cassandra too. Her powers were mostly meant to be under wraps, but no, Cassandra had told the bartender of all people! The brunette blinked and pulled out her deck of cards and offered him a seat at the table they were sitting at. “I should warn you, while everyone thinks they want their future told, doesn’t mean they truly do. Raw truth, unadulterated by time or reality. It simply comes whether you protest or attempt to avoid it or not. It is hard for anyone to face.”

There was a sudden darkness cast about the room. Cana’s eyes grew grave and serious, lacking that playful girlish amusement that she’d felt when seeing Gildarts more or less check-out that maid. The wizard’s tone was one that told of danger, “You’re sure you want this?”

“Yes. More than you could know,” Jared said solidifying his resolve. There were secrets underneath this man’s skin. She’d told him knowing was a curse, yet he still beckoned the truth. There was no amusement left in either of their eyes.

Cana nodded and began to shuffle his fate in with her cards.
