The sea. It had been so long since she had last witnessed its rolling waves, rich foam blanketing the rocky beaches. Yet, tempted as she was to keep staring at the mesmerising motion of the murky waters, the silver-haired girl was required to pay attention to the foggy inland in case one or more of the contestants would emerge from the obscuring mist. After all, none of them could swim in the sea, lest they wanted to risk causing their explosive collars to trigger.
For better or worse, however, the maid hadn't encountered a living soul since her arrival, only eerie silence accompanying the sounds of her light footsteps. Though the solitude did unnerve her, it also gave Tamsin an opportunity to calm down from all the excitement and haste she had been subjected to since her resurrection. Closing her eyes, the maid gathered her thoughts and considered everything that had happened since she found herself in this unusual world. She thought back to the beginning — to her meeting with the enigmatic Omni. Perhaps it was a side-effect of his not insignificant power, but the young woman was able to recollect Omni's words with perfect clarity, almost as though he had spoken them mere moments ago.
One statement in particular stood out to her — his claim that she interested him. The more she thought of it, the less sense it seemed to make. While not powerless, she was hardly remarkable, even by the standards of her own world, during her lifetime. Why would she in particular pique the curiosity of such an omnipotent being? She did ponder the possibility that he wanted to experiment with bringing someone who had passed away and merged their soul with another to his realm — perhaps that was what made her distinct from the others he had brought to his domain. But if that was the case, then that meant that he...wasn't...
Tamsin shook off the thought from her head. Concluding that there was little point in musing over machinations well beyond her control and understanding, her focus was once again on her surroundings. Pressing on with her journey, the maid followed the beach further north.
