Zone D -- The Foam
#29
Graowr was listening intently, to all the ridiculous spiel being just sort of given out for free. It was all a bit much to take in at once, honestly. But it was at least interesting, and completely alien to her. Like something out of a story, or something that someone had made up just for the purpose of being entertaining and confusing. And boy, it sure was both of those things. Trolls really did sound complicated. And confusing. Gamzee, especially, was starting to seem like a mystery that just wasn't really meant to be figured out. Just kind of...accepted? Just left to be itself.

But that wasn't really important. Her attention, what wasn't focused on making sure she didn't trip or fall into a puddle or something, was wholly given to Professor Makara and his riveting stories about Alternia and Trolls 101. All the weird ways they were raised. Their bizarre culture. The harsh, almost comically evil and tyrannical 'government' (whatever that was), the strange system of hierarchy and social structures based on blood color...

"Woooow!" He was of noble blood? That was a surprise! Then he was going on, talking about how he just refused all his noble responsibilities, and just did his own thing. His friends, and all the different rungs of society they came from, all the strange things and shenanigans they got up to...

And on, and on, and on! It was honestly enough to leave her head spinning trying to process it all.

Sploosh.

Oh, right, the water. It was starting to get pretty deep out here. She was okay for now, but...well. That was a mess for when it happened.

She just listened intently as they went on, while Gamzee rattled and rambled on, letting his story wind down to an end. There was a lot she hadn't really understood about all that, but she was willing to just smile and nod, accepting it. Or, well...she would have, but by now they were well into the flooded area. And the water was rising up worryingly high, leaving her with her head just barely above water. If she'd had a nose, it would have been brushing the muddy waterline, just her eyes and up above the water. It didn't really bother her, though it slowed her down quite substantially.

She stood up as tall as she could, toes brushing the slippery, muddy ground as she pushed her head fully above water, briefly. "So, you said that you guys had different blood colors and stuff?" she started. "Trolls, I mean. What color is yours, then?" She ducked back down into the water to recollect her balance, before popping up again, bounding out of the water and letting her arms settle around the troll's neck, just sort of...trailing behind and floating along, letting herself get dragged through the water. "Sorry, water's kinda deep here and stuff."

She tilted her head, leaning around his shoulder to look ahead for a moment. "So...also, based on what you said, you're like...an alien troll but not a computer troll? And some of your other friends were alien trolls and computer trolls? And then there are people who are computer trolls but not alien trolls?" She rattled the questions off one after another, leaving precious little room for answers. Her mind was in high gear now. "Oh, and you mentioned something earlier about miracles. What are those? And, and...sick fires? Can fires get sick? I thought they just kind of...burned stuff?"
