His horror at the snake-like quality that Guu had produced was subdued as he noticed the stone statue of the orc. Nyeseth examined it closer, turning his attention to the statue as Guu regurgitated the novelty-like over sized banana. Nyeseth looked it over once at first, noticing the incredibly life-like horror on the statue’s face, as if it had been perfectly cut from observing a model. After examining it a second time, he noticed the stone veins in the statues muscles and the individual strands of hair. They seemed as if they’d just break if you were to touch them. The stone clothing of the Orc seemed to sit above what would be the ‘skin’ of the creature, as if they were sitting lees than a millimeter above the stone. It was clear that the girl had been here, taken by the Orcs or just found by and fleeing from this one. This made Nyeseth uneasy. At the same time a dark feeling sat in his stomach, as if he were being watched by someone or something.
‘She was here.’ Nyeseth said as he turned to Desco and Guu, the giant banana still sitting next to Guu. The two had been watching him as he examined the statue, he had thought that this was where the dark feeling in his stomach came from, but Guu’s stare usually made him feel cold, rather than create a pit in his stomach, something else was definitely going on.
‘Which way did she go?’ Guu asked with a voice that lacked any inflections or tones as she pushed the banana away when she realized it Nyeseth had noticed it.
‘Desco thinks she went this way!’ Desco exclaimed as she pointed towards behind the statue.
‘Why do you think that?’ Nyeseth asked as he and Guu walked over to Desco, looking in the direction she was pointing.
‘Because footsteps the size of Desco’s feet are going that way.’ Desco explained as she placed her foot in the footstep and began walking. Nyeseth and Guu followed suit with Nyeseth taking the lead and Guu walking next to Desco.
They hadn’t been walking for long before they started to notice more and more stone statues, some were Orcs, some were dinosaurs and some were humans, they were scattered and some were in groups, as if they had been turned to stone all at once.
‘She certainly has an interesting power.’ Nyeseth thought to himself as he watched the statues as they passed each one, following a myriad of footsteps.
‘I think we should rest here, we’ve been in the forest for a while, and our picnic was ruined earlier… I’m a little hungry.’ Nyeseth smiled as he looked to the canopy above them. It was dense, but there were a few cracks that let light through, to illuminate the forest, even if it was only a little bit. He noticed that the light had begun to dim and the forest had started to get Darker. He didn’t want to stop, he wanted to find the girl as fast as possible, but as long as she could turn things to stone, save Primes, he believed she would be safe for the night.
‘Are we having a campfire?’ Guu asked with her monotone voice as she proceeded to create a sizeable circle out of rocks. Nyeseth smiled and nodded as he began to search for sticks, dismissing the feeling that had come over him.
