A Birthday Party for Molly
#25
Pin the tail on the dragon. It was about as simple as it sounded. First Gildarts watched Molly have a go at it.

To summarize the game, there was a literal tailless dragon robot which flew around breathing fire, had a metal shell, and had some sharp looking teeth. Gildarts thought that it looked like a dangerous kid's game, the risk was high and it turned out other than its abrasive roaring everything else was just for show.

When the dragon swooped, that was when the ten year old tackled it and clipped the magnetized tail on. It whimpered in defeat, then it let Molly pet its head, very realistic for something that required batteries.

Next was the beyond amazing bouncy mansion! Molly slipped her shoes off of her feet and dove right in. There was a bouncy slide, a bouncy bed, a bouncy jacuzzi with boiling bath that smelt and tasted like cotton candy.

Molly stuck her head out of the balloon entrance and asked, "Are you sure you don't want to come in?"

"Yes, you go ahead and have fun, knowing my tendencies I'd likely pop it with my arm or leg or accidentally turn it into some very unusable bouncy cubes," Gildarts reasoned and Molly nodded and dove back in. She was surrounded by kids and creatures who accepted her. Gildarts came to the conclusion that while he was accepted he did not belong.

The hobbit was in there -and intact- bouncing up and down and shaking the shiny, gleaming multi colored float with various sways like a trampoline. Laughs and giggles erupted and Gildarts went to sit at the bench.

What's the matter? You lonely now? You only ever have to give me a ring -not even that!- and I'll be right here. You know if I had your body we could both enjoy the bouncy experience. she nagged like his ex wife.

Gildarts sighed and scoffed as he ignored her. Sometimes there wasn't a thing to say. He felt more free living the wayward life. Seeing everyone else except him laugh at parties made life difficult. This wasn't Fairytail, who could mostly deal with his magic antics (then again, he thought upon reflection, maybe not).

After some time, and some more of the Malafactor's serpentine temptations, Molly hopped out of the extravagant bouncy house and into Gil's arms. He was caught off guard but it was human instinct to catch what is thrown at you, usually.

"Haha! Great catch Gildarts! It's almost time for me to open my presents. I wonder what you got me...." Molly giggled and smiled.

A bell chimed and Pinkie Pie (the ultimate party coordinator) let her voice boom over the loud speaker. "Attention all guests! It is time for the all important blowing out of the candles... And that means CAKE FOR EVERYONE! We are requesting miss Molly, the birthday girl's presence at the center of town. Hurry up guests before the cake is gone!"

Squeaaak! the loudspeaker clicked off and a stampede was sure to ensue. Gildarts lifted Molly to the safety of his shoulders and deployed his tactics to swim through the crowd. It was getting cramped. People were passing him and nudging him, breaking his concentration with a small shove, but he was top heavy and Molly nearly toppled over.

"Whoa!" She said, "Take it easy, there's cake for everyone, there are multiple Primes here which means that we can't possibly run out. Except of patience! Come on Gil!" As though he were on the Iditarod Gildarts was "hiyah'd!" forth, using his shoulders as the reigns.

What's the matter Prime? A little claustrophobic? Perhaps you're dreading you'll sneeze, or perhaps something much worse... she snickered. Luckily these are all very innocent bystanders, making the struggle all the more hard for you.

Guu's voice protruded in his head. Two women. Plus the young girl literally sitting above his head. What a day, even for him, a man whose youth was known for this sort of thing. "Hey! You! Back off. Quit being a bully just because you don't have a tongue to enjoy the cake. And you can't use Gildarts' because that is his tongue. Let him enjoy the festivities or I'll see to your demise personally!"

There was silence, seemed the temptress had backed down, Fine, Guu of Ambrosia, but I will return.

"Ha! Glad that's over. Oh Gil ! I see you! Keep going straight... straight... straight... OW! That's me you just stepped on. So clumsy... Guu hopped on one foot to brace the pain.

"THERE YOU ARE GUU!" Molly exploded and hopped down. "Are you... skipping in place? Should I be doing that too?"

"Uhhh, Gildarts stepped on me." Both shot him an accusatory look, "But it's time for cake! Let's go!"

Almost entire town gathered around in their so central of a location, Guu, Gil, Molly, and Pinkie Pie were on the main stage.  The candles had been lit and her chin warmed a melted yellow like a buttercup below her chin. There were eyes on her, it was a little nerve-frazzling but they were mostly familiar faces- family even- looking back at her from the crowd.

Guu and Pinkie Pie began the so cliché song, "Happy birthday to you...." and the chorus of Ambrosia continued the words. Gildarts hummed and smiled along with Molly, just as excited as she was to blow out the candles.
