The ancient tree let loose an utter worldly scream as the two smaller hardwoods slammed into it. Its bark and flesh was shorn off from the sheer friction. As it fell to the ground it threw out its tendrils, roots and vines in a vain attempt to hold itself up- yet the mass of the tree worked against it. Vines gave off high pitched whines before snapping and the roots failed to find a sufficient purchase in the soft freshly churned soil.
As if having a tantrum the goliath flailed its massive roots with whatever the primal equivalent to indignity was- aiming to cause as much destruction as possible before it gave up on the fight. While it held no higher thought process, if one were to become the tree they would feel nothing but it’s discomfort about having almost the entire extent of its underground network either twisted up or completely naked to the world.
One could almost say that the spider vomiting tree monster felt a semblance of embarrassment from being so exposed in front of a foe.
How positively rude of the man to be so inconsiderate.
The tree found it even more unbearable when the strange pink fleshed creature diverted its attention away in order to investigate other more important things. With its infantile and primitive grasping of reality it took utmost offense- and who could really blame the poor thing? It wasn’t born wishing that it could drool chitinous bodies or move around. All it had ever dreamed of was existing as a normal tree and yet it found itself at horrible situation after horrible situation. No one had ever asked the tree how it felt.
But just moments ago, about half a kilometer away a patrol of Darklings had found themselves shivering at the wretched screams that echoed in the damp midday air. Their leader had decided that it would be a pretty smart decision to go and investigate the tormented screams of a carpentry class gone wrong and no one could convince him otherwise.
The ragtag gang was made up of six Darklings and their brash and overly masculine captain. Four were male, and the other two appeared female. The newest members was a pair a twins, one named Steve and the other one named Steven.
They were young- in their earlier twenties at the most- and wild. Leaving their homes for adventure they had found themselves wandering through the jungle searching for ancient lost treasure. Their lovely mother had sent them off each with a bag full of supplies and several containers of her homemade bug repellent, as well as her motherly love and blessings that their travels fared well.
One could say that these two young whelps were the least corrupted with only a week or so spent amongst the ranks. They were still green when it came to using their swords as they had been trained with the bow- yet when push came to shove Nebula apparently had the archery section covered and a shortage on normal infantry.
As they came up on the area their eyes collectively widened at the site of the thrashing tree.
“Is that thing... pinned to the ground with more trees?” Steve managed to quietly ask as they all stared.
It was only then that they noticed the scraggly looking dirt covered prime standing in the now-clearing. And of course, their commander did the only thing he thought acceptable for such an occasion:
"FOR NEBULA! FOR THE DARKNESS OF CORRUPTION!"
Then he charged forward towards the unknown man. In the back, a regular dude named Steven picked up his sword, taking it in both hands as he readied himself to charge into battle. To his left, a tree explodes and the prime came leaping out, a muddy staff in hand and ready to smash the poor boy’s face in.
For a moment the world seemed to freeze as Steven, the most average and normal of humans - even more so than his brother Steve- attempted to block the attacker’s rush.
You're probably wondering how I got here... You see, it all started six months ago when my brother and I started adventuring. We only ended up here after a series of very unfortunate events in which we were sent running from a brothel- no no, I won’t get into the details of that one right now, but let’s just say it was due to a certain misunderstanding between us and a nobleman’s favorite mistress. Actually, it was more a disagreement with the noble over said mistress.
Aaah, details details. Such tricky little things. Didn’t I say we weren’t going to get too into those? My bad.
I grew up in a family where I had eight siblings, five brothers- four if you excluded my twin brother- and three sisters. As the two middle children, I guess you could say that my twin and I bonded over our mutual invisibility in a household so big. And while I would never insinuate that our mother ignored us or didn’t love us, I can’t blame her for being busy all the time.
After our oldest three brothers left the nest, she just.. Got sick one day while out in the garden. None of our village’s doctors could figure out the issue, and so Steve and I decided that we’d go out and adventure for treasure so we could afford to bring our mom to the hospital in Ambrosia.
And now I’m here, in the middle of a god forsaken jungle, staring up wide-eyed and ready to ruin my pants because some half-tree ponytailed dirt-monster has launched himself at me.
I hope he has mercy.

Quote:Encounter!
While the tree is knocked down and less of a threat, it’s still a threat. Same stats and powers.
Kelly has encountered: Darkling patrol squad.
-- Six regular underlings, considered to have 1 in ever stat.
-- One Darkling sergeant, with stats of 2/1/1/2
-- Every one of them has the Survival power, along with Physical Strength and Ranged Proficiency.
-- They wield various weaponry, as well as anything natural (fangs, claws, etc.)
You have one post, which may be up to 1200 words, to contend with this abomination unto nature. You have five days to make said post. Good luck! (and be nice to Steven D:< )
