A New Avatar Arrives
#2
The Avatar continued to look around, as if hoping to see something new with each pass of his eyes. Nothing appeared... it was just an empty expanse of nothing. The Avatar in him told him to be patient, but that was never his biggest virtue. Nope; he picked a direction and aimed that way.

He took a few swift steps, his arms circling through the air in broad arcs. With a fluid sweep, his hands move together to form a rapidly swirling ball of air. Aang underhand pitches it a few paces ahead, then leaps atop of it as it expands into a fairly large sized Air Scooter. With a quick loop to test his balance, he was off - speeding across the blank landscape at high speed.

It was not long before he saw something appear upon the horizon. Through squinting eyes he found the specks to be human! "Hello!" His first instinct was to call out and greet him. It would seem their first instinct was to stop and stare. Aang did not blame them. The Air Scooter was almost the size of a hippo-cow and Aang was standing atop it like a common surf board.

"Don't be afraid!" He stops just over five meters from the group. With a small jump, the transport vanished into a slight breeze and he drifts lightly back to the ground. "I'm friendly! My name's Aang, I'm new here and kinda lost... Could you help me?"

The group of people in front of Aang looked a bit strange. They wore no colors denoting their nation, but more over they had strange armor and odd weapons. Amongst the group, Aang counted two women and four men, all wearing matching uniforms and carrying similar weaponry. One of the women was looking him over quite thoroughly, like Katara sometimes does...

After the shock passed, one of the men steps forward. "Are you a Prime?"

"A what?"

"That's a yes," said the brunet same woman that had looked the Avatar over so thoroughly. "I mean, it's pretty obvious."

"Could be a hermit, or something, I mean look at his clothes." The other woman chimed. She was dark skinned and tall, with thick curly black hair. She was as pretty as she was intimidating. Her hands were on her hip, and instead of the regular black metal weapons the others held, she carried what looked like  a short metal rod.

The Avatar reeled for a moment. "Hermit? These are traditional Airbender robes... I mean, some Airbenders were hermits, but mostly we were monks that lived in the mountains. Well, there was one temple in a gorge." Noticing the deadpan look of the tall, dark woman, he silenced his ramblings. "But you're right, I'm not sure what a Prime is. I just kinda woke up next to that fountain back there. Some guy calling himself Omni brought me here."

"Sweetie," the brunet cuts in, before the less gentle voiced group has their say, "that's exactly how Primes come here. Because you popped up there, you ARE a Prime. It's really that simple." That... kind of made sense. "We're actually looking for Primes, if you'd like to come with us?"

Why would they be looking for Primes? "I'm still not following... Are you guys Primes? I mean... I'm still the Avatar, right?"

The first man to speak does so again. "Look. Primes are immortals in this world. You are still who you were where you came from, for the most part. Some say they feel weaker when coming here, others say they feel stronger. Most usually become stronger than they were in their previous life. Sadly, they cannot RETURN to their previous life. You are here now. Forever." That last bit sounded a bit smug...

"What Egon means to say," a shorter, slightly rotund man chimed in here, "is that we are not Primes. You are something special, and we are looking for special people to bring back to our superiors. We have food, drink and a warm bed open for you, of course."

Food sounded great right about now. Food always sounded great. Aang blamed that on spending too much time with Sokka. "I guess it wouldn't hurt to talk to someone... What exactly does your superior want?"
