Warren went on to accept the apology, and Cole gave a small sigh of relief. At times like this, he was glad he had become a Blue Lantern. Without it, he felt like he would let his anger overtake him far too often. He listened as Warren explained that he was likely not a good fit to be a Blue Lantern, and that he felt the emotional spectrum in general could turn out poorly. Walker and Cole both thought this was, at least partially, true. For Cole, he knew that using a power ring is a a hard skill to learn, much less master, and could, indeed, turn out poorly for Warren. For Walker, having a more advanced understanding of the emotional spectrum, he knew that certain emotions took control of their users, such as Love and Rage, and using them would be harmful. Warren then explained that he was likely to be beat up by something called "Storm Troopers" if anything went wrong.
"Wait," Cole asked, "Do Storm Troopers wear white and black armour? And carry blasters?" Cole was almost certain the soldiers that had taken away that man earlier were Storm Troopers. Warren finished speaking, saying he was likely not a good fit for being a Blue Lantern, as he wasn't optimistic.
"That is certainly understandable," Walker said. "It is not as though optimism can be controlled." And that was truly what Walker felt about it. Optimism was a personality quirk: whether you had it or not was as much in your control as whether you're fair-haired or not.
