Battle of the Determined (Undyne vs. Flowey)

Round 1. Posting order is Undyne => Flowey.

Asgore "never made it"? "His child did"? What was this deranged flower going on about? And who was Charlotte? She had the impression to have read or heard that name somewhere before.

“What the hell are you going on about? Asgore was alive and well last time I saw him, and his son Asriel has been died a long time ago! Actually, you know what? I don’t NEED to know! All I must know is that you’ve struck us only a few days ago, that you tried to kill Frisk and now you’re going around killing innocent people!”

“Get out of my way! I have no time for this.”

“I’ll just knock you down quickly. En guarde!” She raised the spear in her hand and infused an amount of green magic into it, before leaping forward at her opponent. Being given ample time to prepare, the flower dodged the first strike and grew a thick vine from his body that shot forward, attempting to knock the spear aside when the fish followed up. To his surprise however the spear passed through the vine like it was immaterial! The sharp tip passed through Flowey’s head as Undyne completed her attack and tinted his yellow petals green. As he retracted his vine, he found that his body felt sluggish, though he was unharmed. Undyne however was equally slow as she took a step back, readied her now once again normal spear, and began her assault.

“Green Mode?” Flowey asked as he continued using his vines to defend, this time clashing with the spear now that it was not enchanted anymore. He was faster than the fish-knight in her encumbering armor, but the debuff had startled him and Undyne was capitalizing on it.

“That’s right! I’m, hngh! Not letting you escape!” she replied, her confident grin hidden beneath her helmet. Even as she spoke, she thrusted her spear forward repeatedly trying to get a hit in, but Flowey guarded himself too well. Each strike he blocked a little earlier, each block happened a little to her body rather than his own. After recovering from the surprise of having been hit with Green Mode he made use of his superior speed and stronger attacks to gain the upper hand. Then the green color faded as the debuff slowing them both ended, and their sluggish legwork (or rootwork) became quicker as well.

“What the hell...” Undyne mumbled as Flowey started to bend and step to the sides to dodge her stabs instead of blocking them. He had retracted the vine to his stalk so that he could save his stamina, while letting her wear herself out. It reminded her of Frisk, back in their fight at the entrance to Hotland where she had either dodged or blocked all her attacks. “Die already!” she finally yelled and stepped closer.

She realized that she had made an error when Flowey’s face turned into a grimace smiling at her. Two vines shot forward from his stalk, covering the little distance between them before she could dodge and wrapping around her right arm and leg. The thorns pierced the steel armor after a few moments and stabbed into the skin below, further immobilizing her. She tugged at her arm but Flowey had her firmly in his grip. Somehow he was stronger than her.

“You IDIOT”, Flowey said, still wearing that sadistic smile. “You could just have let me through and walked away alive, you know? But now, I’ll have your soul added to my collection. Die...” With those words, he made several little white pellets appear above his head, spinning in place and ready to be fired. But a humming tone above him made him turn his head, and he saw one of Undyne’s magic spears forming in mid-air with the tip pointing straight at him.

“We’re only just getting started”, the knight replied as she tossed the spear she was wielding from her right hand to her left one, in preparation of Flowey’s attack. Then the spear floating overhead began its descent.
