This is Terrible
#3
Darren rode through the wilderness, his horse galloping down a narrow dirt path. He had had his rat, Lucius, take out a small golden ornament he had stolen, and was looking at it, inspecting the intricacies he hadn't been able to see before. Judging by the sound it made when struck, the ornament was solid gold, which meant that it would sell for quite a bit of money. It was in the shape of a bear, with the paws slightly outstretched just in front of the body. The snout of the bear was sticking out as well, a bit farther than the paws were, the mouth open but filled with gold. Darren got excited, the number of outstretched parts and the fact that it was solid meant it would sell for a lot of money. He gave the ornament back to his rat, who proceeded to put it back in the pocket hidden within Darren's armour. Darren reached into a pocket on his belt, this one not obscured whatsoever, pulling out a Victorian-style timepiece. It was 12:30 P.M., the sun belting down on Darren and his horse, but a gentle breeze cooling them off. It was nice weather, and Darren decided to enjoy himself how he could, riding on the horse, pulling out an apple from a pouch on the side of the saddle. he grabbed a switchblade from his belt, and cut off a small chunk of the apple, handing it up to his shoulder, where Lucius was waiting, grabbing the piece of apple eagerly.
"Greedy pig," Darren jokingly remarked under his breath, taking a bite of the apple. It tasted incredible, sweet and crisp. It was so good, in fact, that Darren almost felt bad about stealing the ornament from the shopkeeper. Almost.

Many hours later, night was just beginning to fall, and Darren had set up a sort of camp. He had spread a nylon sleeping bag on the ground, next to a fire he had started. Darren had tied his horse up, but left the rope long as to give her a chance to roam the area, grazing on grass nearby and drinking from a stream. By that point, Darren had peeled off his armour, clad now in nothing but a simple white shirt and blue jean pants.  Darren had gathered a pot of water from the stream, and was now boiling it, making a stew with a cut-up steak and several carrots. The stew gave off a thick aroma, spreading far from the campsite. In a few minutes, the stew had gotten done, and Darren had taken out a loaf of bread from a satchel, splitting it in half and sticking half back into the bag. He began sipping on the stew, having not had the foresight to bring along any type of eating utensil. Lucius squeaked into Darren's ear, and held out his paws expectantly.
"What if I don't wanna give you any?" Darren said, a grin coming onto his face. A squeak was all that was given in response, and Darren ripped off a piece of the bread, dipping it in the stew before giving it to Lucius. The rat squeaked joyfully, tearing at the bread with his sharp teeth. In about half an hour, Darren had finished the stew, and was boiling water to purify it, a trick he had picked up from scientists in Coruscant. He had drunk a few of the bottles of water he had brought, and was preparing to refill them. In several minutes he had done so, and night had come fully. He then stripped off most of his clothes, washing them in the river and leaving them on a nearby rock to dry during the night. Darren nestled into the sleeping bag he had set out, the last embers of the fire going out. And from there, he set off into a night of rest.
