I'm "on the spectrum", I have mild/high-functioning Asperger's. Used to have a habit of speaking in total monotone, but I forced myself to engage socially and through my later teenage years I basically self-trained myself into using body language and intonation like a second language. As someone with Asperger's, it feels like exaggerating everything you do. But, you would never guess I was on the spectrum unless you knew me well, because of that. The defining traits for me would be a total obsessiveness over things and an inability to focus on anything other than my obsession (this has diluted as I got older). I absolutely embrace it as part of myself and love to get obsessed over things, like the Omniverse, and totally immerse myself in a subject. I genuinely get depressed when I don't have a 'focus'.
The downside is that this also applies to love, and I find it extremely hard to break that single-minded nature once it's in place. This is where my nature inadvertently causes me extreme pain, because it can take me years to emotionally detach from someone.
The other trait I would say is a lessened interest in social interaction. It's not that I can't, but I've come to realise I simply don't get the same enjoyment out of it that other people do. In fact, much of the time I'd just rather be alone. I feel like lately I've come full circle and returned to "original Greg"; I'm burnt out with human beings and I'd rather just stick to online interactions where I have more control and can step out without the pressure of feeling like I'm being rude. Part of that's also probably disillusionment/exasperation/depression.
