With a start, Arle 'woke up'. Omni's words hung fresh in her mind, yet she found herself struggling to regain proper consciousness. She mentally grasped at things that ought to be there only to find herself floundering in the confines of her own mind. She began to go over basic things she knew. She was... a sorceress. Her name was Arle and she knew a spell by the incantation of 'fire'. It was a favored spell among young boys in her world, but she was no boy. ...Didn't she know more spells? Arle could swear she remembered casting things that weren't quite fireballs but the memories of such incantations eluded her. And why was she experiencing deja vu? ...Maybe it would come to her later. Thankfully, some other areas of her memories were more intact. Her treasured friends were seperated from her, but not quite forgotten. That, at least, she could be thankful for.
It was then, as Arle began to get a grip over herself and return her conscious mind to reality, that she began to notice something off about the world around her. Woah, hold up. This was decidedly unlike any location she'd ever seen, and it was honestly... creeping her out. The seemingly featureless surfaces, the uniform color. Arle took a deep breath in an effort to calm herself. The alien landscape was strange and slightly unwelcoming in its sprawling infinity. The air smelled strange in a way that she didn't recognize from anywhere else. She wasn't about to let herself be defeated by a mere change of scenery. Shaking off her remaining confusion, Arle turned about and pondered her next move. The area was too large and open for her to get a good idea of where to go next, but thankfully she wasn't alone.
...Or not so thankfully. The mage found herself quickly burried in perhaps well meaning emissaries attempting to tempt her into following them goodness knows where with promises that seemed to make several assumptions about her nature. Surely whatever factions at play in this new pearly universe had better things to do than hound a young girl, didn't they? It was a bit of a wide miss with every temptation, however. She was not a soldier, she answered to no king and she certainly had no desire to settle down. None of those things were in her nature, and none of those who approached her seemed to grasp her true desire. She wanted her friends back. She wanted her homes back. And if she couldn't have that last bit, she might be willing to settle for a more homely locale that she could loiter in. It wasn't until the floating city of Dalaran came up that Arle felt someone had inadvertantly told her something she wanted to know. She wasn't sure if the city or its magicians could help her, but it seemed like a pretty decent place to start her journey.
...Thankfully, she was used to walking. A good, long walk later Arle found herself staring at a gate. In hindsight, this new world was a bit more friendly than those she'd previously been to. Usually she was just ripped away through a wormhole, sent flying through space and landing in some field off in the middle of nowhere. This time, however, she'd been greeted by whomever had brought her here. She supposed she ought to say thanks? A part of her felt that they were the same person keeping everything she held dear from her, but that suspicion would have to be kept to herself for the time being. She didn't even have Carbuncle with her, not the yuru-chara could hold a conversation very well. He was rather flighty and got bored easily... and also spoke entirely in a strange simplistic language that was at times difficult to understand. She could already take a guess as to what he would say if he were here, but it wasn't helpful even in her in her dreams.
She found herself waiting at the gate for a while, yearning for something to sit on so that she could rest her legs for a moment. Ah well. Maybe there would be a nicer place to rest once she actually stepped through, provided she did not find herself tricked into going somewhere she did not want to be. She got the impression that whoever had given her directions here did not have her own interests at heart.
