Putting out the call
#57
Skeletor’s mind was drifting, he wondered idly if he had made a mistake so quickly rushing headlong into another conflict so soon after his return to unlife. But no, he needed to gain power, and these dark chips seemed like too perfect an opportunity to pass idly by. The Bio-mech made his declaration and strode out of Dr. Regal’s laboratory. None of the other assembled primes seemed prone to follow. Skeletor grinned to himself as he affixed his gauntlet, the Toa’s isolation was a dual-benefit. Should things go awry, and he be attacked by a self-righteous hero, it would be beneficial to have fewer of them around. Heroes liked to attack in teams, he had learned that much in Darkshire. Further the lack of any other searchers to accompany him would make the Toa less inclined to question Skeletor’s motives.

The Warlock followed Kopaka, “A jaunt in the mountains, is it?” he asked with a stilted attempt at comradery, “Sounds exactly the thing for me.” The disguised warlock grinned. Kopaka turned telescopic sensors taking in his blue skin and minimal clothing.

“Right.” The Toa said with a generous touch of sarcasm. “I am through waiting, we will make for the Nexus…” Kopaka turned away, not bothering with any further line of questioning into his new travelling companion, and began to head towards the nearest elevator to the first tier. Skeletor only shrugged cloak swirling about him as he followed.

“Lead the way, icy one.” He said with what approached nonchalance. The Toa of Ice stopped in his tracks almost immediately, and turned back to face Skeletor.

“No more of that.” The Toa declared, then trudged on again, Skeletor still following in the foriegn landscape. The Warlock had picked a thorny ally indeed, but he could not afford to alienate himself here. Kopaka seemed the type that would not hesitate to leave him stranded in this unfamiliar world without a second thought. For the moment, he would need to be diplomatic. For the moment.

The Two primes reached an elevator, the Bio-mech swiping some sort of strange ID to gain access before they entered. The two primes rose steadily towards the first tier, Kopaka silent as ever, Skeletor keeping equally mute as he analyzed his compatriot and the world around him.

The elevator car reached the first tier and the warriors stepped out into the crowds of the first tier. The two primes were impressive enough that they didn’t have too much trouble clearing a path, fortunately and they reached the Nexus Gate in little time. During the journey, Skeletor thought he had seen another group of the armored soldiers attempting to intercept them amidst the crowds, but they had pulled back after a short time, disappearing into the bustle of The Empire’s bastion of prosperity. The Warlock wondered whether Kopaka’s presence had spared him yet another encounter with Coruscant’s finest.

The two warriors reached the Nexus gate. Kopaka stopped for a moment outside the swirling portal Gazing into its rippling eddies. Skeletor found it quite difficult to read the Bionicle’s expression, but he felt the Toa’s expression was one of remembrance. The Toa of Ice squared his shoulders and stepped through the portal without further hesitation, Skeletor following close behind. He had escaped the clutches of the Empire from deep within its bowels, now it was time to see just what this Dark Data truly was.
