Figurative Demon vs. Literal Demon
#3
"Reset?" Bendy asked, taking a deep breath as he waited for Chara's reply.

"Of course!" Chara put a hand to her cheek and grinned. "Only the most determined soul can do it, but boy is it wonderful!" Twirling her knife around, she pointed back at the entrance. "I doubt you can see it, but there's a SAVE point over there. Whenever I die, I can return to the last time I saved."

Somewhat suspicious, the ink monster cocked his head to peer down the hallway. He wasn't entirely sure what the child was trying to show him, but something stuck out as strange to him. "You mean that little glowing star-shape?"

Instead of the little lapses of surprise the kid had betrayed earlier, Chara had been legitimately caught-off guard from the demon's question. "Y-yes," she answered. "But only determined souls can see it... monsters don't have the ability hold that much determination without the magic holding their body together deteriorating."

Bendy couldn't help but grin at the fact that he had a brief hold on the situation. Anything that would keep this maniacal child disoriented was good. "I'm not made of magic."

"Then what are you made out of?"

To answer, he briefly revealed his soul. It was upside down, much like other monster souls, but the heart was pitch-black and dripping. "It's hate. Just. Like. Your's."

Chara didn't reply. Instead, she rushed at him with her knife reared back for a stab. The inky devil stood his ground, his body starting to undulate in preparation. When the child finally closed the difference and swung, she found that her foe suddenly had a hole in his chest. His head appeared behind her, allowed a fair bit of movement due to the fact that it wasn't actually connected to anything.

"Your soul will do quite nicely," he jeered, wrapping his arms around her and piledriving her into the ground. Once her head connected with the ground, he spun her around and sent her flying towards the short end of the hallway. She landed on the floor and skidded along for a few feet before stopping.

"What makes you think you can harness the soul of someone who can reset?" She asked, suddenly disappearing. That's right, if she died she could just start over! He needed to get control of her powers before she had a chance to do so, but he could just cross that bridge when he came upon it.

"I'll find a--" Bendy's sentence was cut off from the blade slashing through his abdomen from behind him. Great, so the kid could teleport. While some of the ink had been swept out alongside the steel dagger, most of it settled back into place, leaving the demon slightly more transparent, but otherwise okay. "You'll have to try a little harder than that," he said, his head spinning around to face behind him as he launched a fist out to attack her.
