Putting out the call
#26
A tri-eye, a biped with maroon fur and three eyes, calmly made his way past Imperial patrols.

Since he’d finished the call with Carmelita, Nimo had gathered together his cleanest, least noticeable clothes (a grey collared shirt and some non-descript brown trousers), picked up a large tablet with an inbuilt webcam and made his way steadily up through the levels. He had quickly mocked up some paperwork and had it electronically submitted, and now if he was stopped he had a paper trail that he could fall back on. No indication that he’d spent the last two months recovering from an attempt on his life by a freelancer looking to cash in on his formerly active rebel status.

This time, he had no need to worry about being found with a backpack full of illicit pamphlets about the Endless Dunes cover up. Indeed, he was now an ‘official contact’ of SupraPol while he acted as Carmelita’s proxy, and he could flash that meaningless title at any standard stormtrooper who stopped him.

Fortunately, he didn’t have to test the flimsy shield of bureaucracy against actual firearms. Instead, he found himself arriving unmolested to the department of the one Dr Regal he’d been hearing about.

Making his way inside, he walked up to the secretary.

“Excuse me, I’m here with as a telecommunicator proxy for Inspector Fox-Cooper of SupraPol. I have the video link here with me.”

He brought out the tablet and let the secretary satisfy herself that it was indeed a tight line to Carmelita’s Communicator. While he waited, he mused on how, provided he avoided too much attention from the primes, this would turn out to be a very useful trip. He got to repay the Inspector for saving his life, got some money and a new start to a new cover story if he decided to join another non-violent rebel cell.

The secretary waved him in, and he walked in quietly. Dr Regal, presumably the man in the plum jacket, appeared to waiting for primes to finish asking basic questions. Feeling slightly nervous about the characters in the room, the tri-eye secondary found a seat near the front, where the tablet he held would be both visible and have the camera have a decent view of Dr Regal’s presentation. Nimo took out a little badge that said ‘SupraPol Proxy’ and pinned it to his jacket, before pressing the call button, connecting with Carmelita’s communicator and displaying her image on the tablet.
